One amazing quality..... it still has the "Original wood floating" original hard wood thru out the ballroom, perfect for dancing, even perfect for an actual dance competitions. The list is endless literally. , not only is it a venue like you've never seen before, the wood floors are actually i've only the few original wood floating floors that are around this part of the country. This is only one of my many favorites !!...... o and yes I forgot to mention all of the amazing events They have had over the past century plus of originally opening back in the beginning of the 1900s This is absolutely a must see, gorgeous venue not to mention it's hands-down the most beautiful and elegant venue I personally have ever seen. This is definitely a must see for any type of events........ weddings, corporate events, Prom, fundraising, the list is endless. They even specialize in sweet 16s and 15 birthdays!! ......Oh and so many other great opportunities, not only for corporate events, but also beautiful brides, there family, and again soooo much more !! My understanding is that you can actually use three different areas on site for the actual ceremony. The one that I attended was in a peaceful garden setting with beautiful trees. The dinner was set out on a lawn overlooking the valley, as the sun was setting. A fun bar area is available as well. Every fine detail of a garden setting is available here. WEdding pictures have beautiful areas with back drops of flowers or a pond. A must see for all of those planning a special event or wedding!

Posting an update after I held my wedding here…read more All of the staff that I worked with before and during the event were all really great. They made the process easy. The guy that was at the venue at 8 am with me the day of my wedding was really helpful, kind and patient, especially since I was the bride setting up my own wedding alone. He helped me figure out the tablecloths and answered some questions that I had. The opera house is a freaking sauna in the summer. I would not book any kind of event here in the summer. They have 2 standing fans for the main floor and no air conditioning. It was 85 F the day of my wedding, and I was sweating to death in a t-shirt and shorts. Once I put on my wedding dress, I was a non-stop sweat fest. All of our guests were sweating like crazy too. People were rubbing their faces with napkins and hankerchiefs with visible sweat running down their faces. As soon as the program part of the reception ended, everyone except a handful of people darted out to escape the heat. Hardly anyone stayed to dance and many of our guests sent us notes on Facebook or text messages saying they were sorry they didn't stay to wish us well, they were about to die of heat stroke and had to leave. The bridal suite/cottage has zero fans and zero air conditioning. The bathroom in the bridal suite is convenient so you can shower there after setting up your wedding but it is absolute hell. There is no fan in the bathroom and the walls and floor are wood, holding in all of the heat. I took a cold shower and so did my SIL, BIL, MIL and husband. All of them were about to die. My MIL left her hair wet. There are no electrical outlets either in the bathroom and none in the two rooms to get ready in. There is a mini fridge in the bridal suite but the door's broken and it doesn't keep anything cold. There isn't an ice machine in the kitchen nor an oven or stove so all of your food has to be cooked elsewhere and brought in. Our caterer didn't believe me that there's no ice machine and was running around last minute to bring in bags of ice. The AV set up is great and the acoustics are great for music and microphones. They will charge you extra for any use of their AV so we just used our DJ's. It's a really beautiful building and I'd use it again but only in the winter.

Everyone at our wedding had a great time- also, since the venue is already so beautiful, all we really had to do was decorate our tables and the stage. The bridal cottage was PERFECT- plenty of space for everyone to get ready and a few lovely photo op spots. Leading up to the wedding, the staff checked in with us every couple of weeks to make sure we were getting everything we needed. The area for the women to get ready was a nice big lavatory lounge with big mirrors and lighting. Thank goodness we had a fan bc it did get a bit hot I'm there. Make sure to be prepared to plan though because it seemed like there was lots of prep done by family & friends, so I am not sure if the venue offered a crew for set up & tear down. Also called "Purple Wedding Chapel"…read more I attended a wedding at the Purple Chapel this weekend. The weather was flawless; so that was rare, and set a beautiful tone to the special event. The Chapel is the backyard of a couple of Reverends who live in the house at the front. The backyard is huge ~ a third of an acre with a gazebo for the couple and seating under an awning equipped with heat lamps for about 50 and more seating on the lawn under the trees. There is also a buffet area for the reception if the reception is held there. The family has a fairly large parking lot that can accommodate about 20 cars, but there is more parking available off site at the State Farm office 1/2 a block away, (and you won't get blocked in). The household has a kitchen available for making coffee and warming up foods. Also there is a photography room inside the house for the wedding party. A single bathroom is shared by the household and the wedding guests, so that can get a little complicated. Barbara Raspberry, the owner, can preside over the wedding if you need an official. She presided this wedding and had a fun and not stuffy approach. At $150 for a basic wedding ($100 with military discount), this can be a great way to get married in a casual setting without incurring a ton of debt as you get started on your new life!

Kingston House was an absolute dream. We got engaged in late December and knew we wanted to get…read moremarried that summer, so we didn't have a lot of time to find a venue. After searching and searching I literally was about to give up and just elope, but then I came across Kingston House. We managed to snag the last summer weekend that would work for our schedules and I am so, so happy it worked out. As a wedding venue: The venue was everything I'd hoped for. The property is enormous, lush, and well cared for. There are so many beautiful little areas that each have their own feel. From fields, to a huge pond, to forest, to gardens, you name it. I loved how people could explore and enjoy the day without feeling squeezed into a small space or told they can't roam. It was really important to us that our guests would feel comfortable, and they did! We had a beautiful early summer day so we could go with our Plan A option of having our ceremony in front of the pond and the reception up above. But Matt has some great alternatives that would work if the weather is bad. This was a big anxiety reliever for me because of course the weather here is unpredictable. I knew that even if it rained, we'd have a beautiful spot for both the ceremony and reception. The location: Kingston was a perfect spot for us. We had a lot of people coming from Seattle and Bellingham, and a good group flying in, as well. Kingston is the perfect distance to feel sort of like a destination without actually requiring a huge trip for people. Our guests could drive home if they wanted, or rent a property nearby (there are LOTS of options). And of course, adding a ferry ride is fun! As long as you and your guests know how to plan for it, that is. I was relieved that none of our guests misjudged the timing and everyone made it there when they should. The driving directions were also super easy to follow, so no one got lost. And Matt's team was there to help guide our guests into the property and find the best place to park. The house: I mean, the HOUSE! We stayed Thursday night just the two of us (highly recommend) and then both of our immediate families stayed with us Friday and Saturday nights. There was plenty of room for everyone. But honestly this house was freaking magical. Every square inch was beautiful, styled to perfection, comfortable, and full of history and character. Matt has an excellent eye and has filled the home with interesting and super aesthetic furniture, art, and knick knacks. And then of course it's perfectly stocked and comfortable, and had everything we needed and more. It's such a gift that we can also go back to Kingston House someday since he rents it on Airbnb. We're planning to come back for sure, and hopefully make it a family tradition. Matt: Matt was so great to work with. Responsive and communicative, helpful, and so committed to making your day/weekend perfect. He really knows how to host a wedding and has clearly done this many times. He brought a wonderful level of calm to the weekend and has incredible attention to detail. He puts so much thought and care into the home and property, you can tell he takes pride in it. And he should! We loved working with Matt and look forward to seeing him again someday when we come back. Also he has a very cute dog, bonus points!

The grounds are beautiful, and the staff were great to work with. During the planning session, Matt helped us with ideas and made sure the bride and groom were happy with all the plans. The wedding was scheduled for mid-May and Mother Nature threw us a very last-minute curve ball. Matt and his staff jumped into action to move the ceremony spot to the "In case of rain" location. As the evening went on, it got colder than expected and once again, Matt and crew jumped into action to get the heaters up and running without the guests ever noticing. Everyone had a great time. The wedding party had a gorgeous and comfortable place to stay for two nights. We could not have asked for anything more. We highly recommend Kingston House!!

Andrea was awesome, providing umbrellas for the wedding for the quick storm that passed through during the ceremony; she bartended when one could not be found; and even quickly responded to a spill on the dance floor.
