The Ploughman's lunch was hearty for two. The bread was fresh, the salad very crispy and the meat and cheese delicious. We paired with a glass of Prosecco and we thoroughly enjoyed. We went at an odd time of day (maybe around 15:00?) and there was some confusion about whether or not they were serving food - so maybe check this before you travel, or just get there at sensible eating times. The drinks were good (good selection) - I had a strawberry milkshake, the food was good, the service was good, and they gave us Jelly Belly beans with our bill. Smashed it. We will be back.

Fortunately we were served quickly (after choosing our own table) and settled on grilled cheese with a cup of soup (spicy tomato today), and an open sandwich topped with creamy sautéed mushrooms. These came swiftly and beat both our expectations - indeed the mushroom dish would not have been out of place at somewhere like Caravan in London. Food and a drink came in under £20 together (although a portion of fries is rather wanting in size for the £2.95 price tag).

The menu offered tenders, no description of the ingredients, but they are labelled as Vegan. This combined with the order we placed, with the wait staff, for "Vegan Tenders with the Korean Sauce", led us to believe they are Vegan. Hence the surprise when they turned up made of chicken. You'll note that the meat dishes, below (Burgers) detail what they are made out of and do not list the sauces/ ingredients as Vegetarian or Vegan - Probably because they are served on meat. This is the excuse given by TBS, as you could request the sauce on a different dish - Note the sauces listed as add on's on the menu are different, and are not labelled as Vegan. I am very disappointed that TBS did not even have the courtesy to reply to my email.

They did, for the most part. The burgers were excellent, as were the sweet potato fries (here not called chips), and the decor looked the part. You probably could have fooled me into thinking I was in California, except for the view of old buildings out the front windows, and all the Brits inside eating their burgers with fork and knife. Stop in. Good place to eat. Legit American.
