Originally built for medical students and NHS staff brave enough to venture away for NHS canteen chip butties, this restaurant/cafe/canteen is a cheap way to enjoy a posh sounding lunch.
Situated on the top floor of the Audrey Emerton building (opposite the Royal Sussex County Hospital) it is light and modern with affordable lunches served from 12 until 2.
The menu changes daily but has a recurrent theme of being served with a 'jus'. If like me you are not a fan of the 'jus' then there are lighter options including a sandwich bar and a dubiously named 'chef's theatre' that cooks up daily specials such as omelettes and stews.
Although it is a serve yourself eatery you feel like you're automatically more intelligent eating there. I'm yet to discover if that's eating in the company of doctors or something they're putting in the food, either way I like it! read more
