Busby and Wilds, named after the architects responsible for the nearby Sussex Square, is a fairly new restaurant tucked away on Rock Street at the far end of Kemp Town. Somewhat away from the main street it was surprisingly busy on the Saturday night we chose to visit.
The restaurant itself has a relaxed ambience, trendy but not uncomfortably so, with good lighting and nice decor. The wait staff were friendly but could have been a bit more knowledgable about the menu - our waitress had to check twice with the kitchen regarding the night's special. The wine list is extensive but not overwhelming, and I like the fact that they serve many of the wines in a 500ml carafe - for when a bottle is too much, but a glass is not quite enough!
The menu is varied with a good selection of fish, meat and vegetarian options. I went for the rabbit pappardelle which was light but full of flavour. Other dishes on the table included the cod special and the mushroom and gruyere pie. All four plates were scraped clean at the end of the meal, a testament to the quality of the food. No room for pudding on this occasion but will definitely be back to give them a try. I quite fancy trying their Sunday Roast, and the burger night sounds interesting too! read more
