We stayed in the Wey room (room #1) which was small, but very lovely. The bed was super comfortable and covered in loads of pillows. We were provided with plenty of towels, a bathrobe and slippers. The hot drink selection was great with a variety of teas and some instant hot chocolate that was actually really nice! Free Wifi was available which is always a plus. The bathroom is pretty tiny, but nothing too unmanageable. Everything was new, clean and modern. Our hairdryer only worked for 1 minute bursts and then seemed to overheat. My partner said she could hear a bit of music from the pub below, but I couldn't hear it at all. In any case, they closed by midnight on a Saturday night which isn't at all unreasonable. We tried two cocktails. The bartender lady made one that was completely different than what we asked for, but was still quite nice. We both loved a passionfruit cocktail! The next morning we went downstairs for breakfast. There was a small amount of cold cereal and fruit on a spread, and a full and varied menu for hot food. I have celiac disease and had enquired about the dinner at the Swan before I knew that my girlfriend had booked it as our accommodation, and they were one of the only restaurants of the 10 I emailed in Arundel who responded to my request for gluten free menu items. While we did not end up having dinner here, the helpfulness continued into breakfast. Our server was very lovely and communicated with the kitchen to provide me with a gluten free fry up. They substituted sausage for more bacon, which is always appreciated! And they even had gluten free toast. I had a lovely meal! Overall, I loved the Swan Hotel. It's perhaps a bit pricey considering how small our room was, but I also understand that for a nice, boutique hotel in the middle of a touristy town, that it was probably market value. I would definitely return and recommend it to friends!

This combined with the order we placed, with the wait staff, for "Vegan Tenders with the Korean Sauce", led us to believe they are Vegan. Hence the surprise when they turned up made of chicken. You'll note that the meat dishes, below (Burgers) detail what they are made out of and do not list the sauces/ ingredients as Vegetarian or Vegan - Probably because they are served on meat. This is the excuse given by TBS, as you could request the sauce on a different dish - Note the sauces listed as add on's on the menu are different, and are not labelled as Vegan. I am very disappointed that TBS did not even have the courtesy to reply to my email.

Sadly there are no other bars in the Worthing area worth going to. I have previously eaten there, with my parents, and received excellent service and delicious food. On Sunday evening, we entered the restaurant to be yelled at "where are you going?!" We sat down, and waited a long time to be served. Our food came out over a span of over fifteen minutes, which meant that we could not all eat together. A number of my party had to send their food back because it was either cooked incorrectly, or cold (or in most cases - both!). The service was surly and unhelpful. We were NEVER asked how our meal was, and was only greeted by a VERY rude waiter who obtrusively, and noisily, grabbed the plates from our tables. As members of staff stood around and chatted, we waited over THIRTY minutes to order dessert and coffee to be told, "we have turned off the coffee machine, so there is no coffee!" The "server" was VERY rude to my elderly parents, and only on our insistence did they deem to turn the coffee maker back on again. My parents were VERY upset! As we ate our desserts and eventually enjoyed our coffees, the staff stood around and glared at us. Altogether, the food was terrible, the service awful, the servers were rude, and we are incredibly disappointed at the service, food, and how this usually excellent restaurant was VERY let down by the staff. A very credible pub with a great restaurant in the competitive Pagham village…read more I have been going to the Lion since oooh... the early 1990's. A lot of different people have handled the place in that time and obviously, certain peaks and troughs go with that. Personally, I feel that it is currently being run extremely well. The bar side of things is fab and the food is tremendous. The prices are a little higher than can be found elsewhere in the vicinity, but I feel that the quality justifies the difference. The Lion is particularly nice on really cold winters evenings with a roaring fire, or on a blazing hot Sussex day while having a cool drink in the large front patio. Low wood beam ceilings and beautiful fireplace give clues as to the age of the Lion and it definitely gives a great vibe to the place. All round, a great asset to Pagham and as ever... it really depends on who is at the helm!

Fast forward 30 + years and while traveling through Europe on our family vacation, she took my son and I. What a beautiful village. The Pub was everything she told us stories of. The food was delicious and perfect atmosphere. If we lived in Europe, we all want to go back again and again, unfortunately we will have to come back on our next trip.

The Ploughman's lunch was hearty for two. The bread was fresh, the salad very crispy and the meat and cheese delicious. We paired with a glass of Prosecco and we thoroughly enjoyed. This fueled our walk up to the cathedral and surrounding areas. I would recommend stopping in to grab a bite and a refreshment.
