Granted it takes 2 months to get an appointment in her chair, she is still so thorough and no one has ever been able to style/layer my hair the way she does. If she isn't available, I don't book there. Period. In terms of professionalism, Sharon Joy leaves A LOT to be desired (and that's putting it mildly.) There's no receptionist, so customers walk in and aren't greeted. Whatever hairstylist that does finally greet you after sitting there confused for 10 minutes will likely have a snotty attitude and make you feel unwelcome. You'll be waiting at least 40 minutes past your appointment before your head is even touched, which is just ridiculous and a waste of people's time. The one reason I stopped going there is because I booked an appointment on a Tuesday with Sharon. It wasn't until I arrived that I discovered they're CLOSED on Tuesdays. So whomever I confirmed the appointment with was either not paying attention or didn't know what they were doing. Again, lack of professionalism. Terrible customer service, terrible time management skill, but if you're a patient person (like I once was) you'll love the way your hair comes out if you're willing to withstand the BS.

To begin with, I made an appointment at 1 Eleven salon three weeks in advance, specifically mentioning in the comments that I have curly hair and was looking to get my hair colored for prom. I expected that this information would be taken into account, considering I took the time to emphasize it. Sadly, my expectations were crushed when I arrived for my appointment. Upon arriving at the salon, I was met with a complete lack of professionalism and disregard for my specific needs. It was clear that the staff hadn't bothered to read the comments or notes I had left during the appointment booking process. I was told outright that the salon caters only to straight hair clients, and they were uncomfortable with the idea of touching or coloring my hair because of its texture. It was utterly disheartening to hear that I was being excluded and denied services simply because of my hair type. As a paying customer, I expected equal treatment and the ability to receive the services I had requested in advance. However, it seemed that 1 Eleven salon was uninterested in accommodating clients with anything other than straight hair, which is both discriminatory and unprofessional. To make matters worse, despite having made the appointment well in advance, I did not receive any confirmation calls or messages from the salon. This lack of communication only added to the frustration and inconvenience I experienced throughout this ordeal. Ultimately, after the staff saw my hair in person, they decided to cancel my appointment altogether. This final blow was the epitome of unprofessionalism and disrespect. It is deeply disheartening to be turned away by a salon after having made plans and putting trust in their ability to cater to my needs. I would strongly advise against visiting 1 Eleven salon if you have curly hair or any hair type that doesn't align with their narrow definition of beauty. Their blatant disregard for their customers' preferences and their inability to fulfill basic appointment requirements is truly disappointing. As someone who had high hopes for a positive experience, I was left feeling marginalized, frustrated, and disrespected. It is my sincere hope that 1 Eleven salon takes this feedback seriously and works towards improving their inclusivity and customer service. No client should be made to feel unwelcome or uncomfortable because of their natural hair texture.

She also has a way of talking down to you during the "consultation," to make you feel like you can't take care of your hair and to guilt you into paying for her absurd special conditioning treatments.
