I will think of an excuse to drive to Mapunapuna on a weekday, just so I can pick up a burger from The Munchie Machine. The burgers are tasty, thanks to their homemade teri sauce and DAB sauce. I usually get the single patty (scrappy burger) and make it a deluxe (lettuce, tomato) - it's the perfect amount of burger not to put me into a food coma for the rest of the afternoon. After trying the fries once, I pass on the fries, because they're always too crispy for my liking. But one day when I don't have to return to work after lunch, I'll try the shaggy jr. which consists of a grilled cheese single patty sandiwch with fries inside - maybe the sauces will soften up the fries in the sandwich. Sounds amazing doesn't it?! Note: order window is on the right (where the driver/passenger sits). The pick up window is on the left! Check their Instagram page (the.munchie.machine) for updates - sometimes they modify their normal operating hours.

Finally had a chance to check out Munchie Machine! It resembles the original Mystery Machine from the Scooby-Doo days that adults over 40 will remember! Located in Mapunapuna they are parked in front of Fisher Hawaii you can't miss this baby blue food truck. We found street parking ordered and waited about 10 minutes for our burgers and fries. Check them in IG for updated times and locations. But they are usually here during the week and closed weekends. We came here on advice that it rivaled one of our favorite smash burgers from Shays so naturally we had to stop by. The Verdict..they are really good tasty burgers but I think that they appeal to the younger crowd that prefers the sweeter tasting burgers over savory. The DAB sauce a sweeter honey mustard sauce almost like the chick FIL a sauce. They use it generously on their burgers which definitely appeals to a lot of people. The shaggy jr and shaggy burger kicks it up by having the bread dipped in the sauce and then grilled. Your taste buds will be happy, your waistline not so much! The Dab fries (shoestring) ones we ordered were in the oil a bit too long and came out very crispy so we just had the crunch and none of the potato. I would try the waffle fries next time. Overall they grill up a great burger and for those that like things on the sweeter side I would head out there and check them out. They are cooked fresh so expect to wait a few minutes for your order. Friendly workers and convenient location.

"Deceptively simple... deceptively delicious" Ok, I'll be the first to admit- you really cannot live on burgers and fries, it's not gonna do your body good. BUT- when you do want to feed that burger hunger, The Munchie Machine is a worthy consideration. From what I have read, they are located in Mapunapuna by CPB for the lunch crowd and they later go to Ahuimanu side for the late afternoon/after school/work crowd. They sell basically two things: burgers (and variations of burgers) and fries. The prices are reasonable, the food ono. No complaints here. (See my pics for descriptions) I have heard on Fridays they offer other stuff too like Saimin. You can ask them about that when you call in your order. When I have to make a run to Hardware Hawaii or Fisher Hawaii I will sometimes try to time so I can get my burger fix from Munchies. Give them a try when in the area- you won't be disappointed.

    Delicious burger.

Late post but still remembering the taste.... Enjoyed the shaggy burger and Dooby fries which was recommended by one of the owners. Super friendly and worth the wait. We will be back.

We've been going there for couple of years. My mom does her banking at the CPB Mapunapuna branch/ Moanalua. She doesn't eat meat as much especially hamburgers but she loves the way they prepare their unique burgers. It's grilled cheese with waffle fries between their sandwiches. They have potato sides such as waffle, string fries & Teriyaki sauce French fries. The menu is written by the cartoon character Scobie-do..I highly recommend all to try their burgers they grill there. They have their Instagram all can follow her delightful delicious eats that are burgers only they prepare very yummy good. I think I ordered their Shaggy burger photo shown below. They're usually at the same locale check Instagram for time and days they are not there.

Yay I finally tried this spot. Their dab sauce is pretty yummy! I ordered their scrappy cheeseburger burger which comes with one patty and all of their burgers comes with homemade Teri sauce and their dab sauce. Must get their dab sauce with their fries! Their truck is fun and reminds me of Scooby Doo! It's located right in Mapunapuna in front of Central Pacific bank.

Wow. Are you kidding me? I found this place next to my new job and tried it. Wow. I didnt get to eat immediately as some work popped up but but when I finally got to eat it it was still yummy! The teri fries was solid, still crispy and kind of alot. I think the scrappy (1 smash burger) had teri sauce on it but the dab sauce was insane, like the other reviewers mentioned. The owner/person I talked to said they do Prime Rib or Smoked Meat Fried Saimin on Fridays so I am going to have to go back to try that too.

So i dont know how i have never heard of this place before. So im sitting in mapunapuna and i am just craving a burger and fries - and not mcdonalds so of course i go on Yelp. Scrolling..scrolling.. and then i see "the Munchie Machine" I take a look and i am hesitant. I think to myself they cant be that good, plus some of the pictures wernt that appealing. Also who wants to just eat a plain cheeseburger with no veggies? On my way home i just couldnt stop thinking about it so i took a detour to just check them out. and i am sooo glad i did! In the afternoon they are parked on ala ilima. I think they target the kids afterschool and the people in the surrounding buildings. Parking is really challanging and you just have to hope you get lucky. The owner is great - she is really nice and answered all my quesitons. she also let me know that i could get a deluxe with lettuce, onion and tomator which i did not see on the menu. (later she told me that you can also request to have the onions grilled which is great because the raw onions was a little over powering) I also like how clean they are - in between orders she is teaching her staff the imporance of keeping the grill and counter area clean. I asked the difference between the fires and she said if you like crunchy go with the shaggy. If you like softer fries go with the crisscut fries. She didnt make me feel rushed and made me feel like a valued customer. The burgers and the sauces are all homemade. THe dab sauce is like a honey mustard suace. Her burgers are smash burgers and just burst with flavor, which is only inhanced by the teri sauce and dab sauce. Her buns are fresh and nicely grilled. All i can say is that i will be back! i even called people on my way home to tell them they have to try this place out - it is truly a hidden gem.

Omg the food is soooo good! The secret sauce for the burgers and fries is like a Hawaiian mustard I loved it! Our burgers were so juicy and the flavor was spot on. We were full without over spending, the service was great, burgers came quick...definitely a hidden gem. We rented a car to visit this food truck while staying in Waikiki and 10/10 do recommend

Get ready to get messy! It's a homey style of burger freshly made to order! The cute Scooby Food Truck stands out in Mapunapuna and love their friendly service. My husband ordered the Shaggy and I ordered the Scrappy Deluxe with shoe string and waffle fries. Crispy and fresh! I highly recommend this burger truck!

After a hard day of ATV'ing Joe, Mike, Kim and I were starving, on the way back from the North Shore we found The Munchie Machine , the most Shagg-ilicious creation ever The Shaggy Jr......... A grilled cheese with 1 burger patty, lettuce, tomato and fresh onion, with crispy fries, and Teri Sauce and DAB sauce...... TRULY AMAZING CREATION, I call it SHAGG-ILICIOUS.....

At the time, he stated that him and his partner were in a competition to see how many triples they could sell, but figured I'd keep that in the back of my mind for our next visit. We came here on a recommendation from my boyfriend's coworker and I'm glad we came! The burgers and fries were made fresh. There are only a hand full of tables inside and a small bar area, but there is also outdoor seating outside, too! A neat fact is that there were pictures posted from when the shop first opened up and to see They Daley as a fixture in Chinatown is amazing since they've stuck around and adapted to the development around. The burger was delicious, too. They have an aioli sauce that was good with diced up pickles. Usually I request no pickles but the small bursts really added to the texture and feel of the burger overall. 10/10 would come again!

I'm pleased to report that this latest order contained a perfectly prepared burger and a bag of crispy fries (as ordered). The remaining nitpicks were: 1) having to wait an additional 10 minutes past the time the order was supposed to be ready, 2) paying $6 for a bag of fries. Increase the price of the burger by $1 and reduce the price of the fries. Yes, the total would be the same but the value would be where it belongs. In any case, $10 is money well spent for a great burger.

I'm not sure how new they are but it appeared that they had only 1 server, who was very efficient and attentive. The food took a bit longer than I would have liked, especially for burger and fries. Menu was adequate, burgers, hotdogs and fries, which is a good sign for me because that means they're not trying to do too much. I got two wagyu cheeseburgers, no onions, extra pickles for the girls, the One burger for myself, and a basket of fries. The girls really loved their burgers and they were a really good size, I could've done away with just ordering one and dividing it between the two of them. The bread was really nice, I can't tell if it was maybe a brioche burger bun or what but it was super tasty, soft and it sopped up the yummy juices well. They did excellent on the request for extra pickles, and the bread to patty ratio was very generous. The fries were good. Nothing extraordinary, but they complemented the burgers well. I think they might be the Ore-Ida frozen ones, which is fine. For my burger, I was pleasantly surprised and realized that I LOVE blue cheese with my burger. Between the tomato bacon jam, the pickles, onions, and special sauce, it was like a well-orchestrated symphony, each flavor getting highlighted without being overpowering, and complementing the rest. That being said, somehow, there was something missing. I am not quite sure what, but I think it's from the actual hamburger patty. I really wanted to say this was one of the best burgers I've had but there was something that just didn't quite get me there. For a wagyu patty, I think I needed it to be richer, and to hold its own with the other ingredients, but it felt like the add-ons were carrying the burger. I mean, I felt like the bread was doing more than the patty itself. Maybe the patty got a bit overdone and would've worked better medium rather than medium-well to well-done? I really can't be sure. Will I go back? Yes, for sure. I am curious about all the other burger variations they have with the fried Kimchi and the Umami mayo. Maybe I'll even try The One fries with all the fixings. And if they could just find that one tweak, they may turn out to be one of the best burgers around.
