Highly recommend! We randomly picked this place on our way out of town, after a weekend of soccer games. I had the Oklahoma burger and garlic fries. The burger was very tasty and the fries were made with real, fresh garlic! My wife had the grilled cheese and a side salad. Brie and apples in a grilled cheese, YUM! The salad was fresh and delightful. We shared a Sprecher Root Beer off the tap, which was a great treat. The service was great and it was fun to watch a good crew working together in a small kitchen. We were dreaming of getting a pint of the toasted coconut pineapple ice cream but it was one of the 1st chilly fall days of the year. We'll be back again in the summer. read more

May not look like much from the outside but it's brimming with flavor! As a vegetarian, I was appreciative that they had a section of the menu just for non-meat options (even if it was just 2 grilled cheese options and some salads). Their fries are pretty standard but standard fries are still delicious in my book. They do have a fresh cut option which are delicious too. I've had the "Aunt Patti's Grilled Cheeser" (grilled cheese with apple!) with both Brie and cheddar. Both were delicious. They've also got house-made root beer! And milkshakes! With fun ice cream flavors to choose from. My family all enjoyed their regular burgers. read more

The Mug is a really fun nostalgic looking kind of place. The food is excellent and modern though, fun toppings on burgers and hotdogs, delicious root beer on tap. The fried pork tenderloin is awesome and big enough to be a double decker on two buns. Garlic fries were crispy and delicious, though very garlicky, probably not for the person who just "likes" garlic. Service is always super friendly and the staff seem to genuinely like their jobs. Love this place and today was the second time I stopped by, this time for an ice cream as a friend and I rode the Pennsy Trail though Greenfield. Its conveniently located just North of the trail, maybe 2 blocks and certainly worth the stop. They have an awesome fast food menu and also serve hand dipped and soft serve ice creams. I got a scoop (generous) of LemonOreo and my friend a root beer float; we both had smiles on our faces. Plenty of outdoor seating which is great on a sunny day like today, and the staff is friendly. We have always loved the mug, but tonight we had ordered sweet potato fries & regular fries and got neither. My bbq pulled pork sandwich was not drenched in yummy bbq sauce or dressed with coleslaw. It was just plain old pork on a bun. Altogether a very disappointing experience. I guess this is what happens when you're closed for half to year and training new staff every six months. The new scan to order system is not customer friendly. I stopped for a rootbeer and was told I could not pay with cash. I was requested to fill out the form on the scan service. The food is perhaps among the best of the Eastside of Indy food desert but not worth this new wrinkle. There are two mugs in the Indianapolis area, one in the city, and one sort of further out (aka this one). While I haven't been to the one in the city, I'd strongly, strongly recommend coming to this one. The menu is allegedly the exact same, but visiting suburban Indiana, especially if you're not from the area, is quite something. It's extremely beautiful out here, and for someone like me who has lived in larger cities all his life, you really ought to take a look at this very picturesque american suburb. The food is great too. We both got the pork tenderloin sandwich, milkshakes, along with fried mushrooms and a tiny thing of mac n cheese. The selection was all great, but my favorite were definitely the fried mushrooms, which had a flavor I'd never experienced before. I think deep frying mushrooms must bring out something special in them. In any case, I definitely want to visit Indi again, so I'll for sure be back. read more

Great tenderloins!! Everything is tasty, so don't expect fast food. Come when you have lots of time. I do wish they had real glass, frosty mugs; just paper cups, so the name is ironic. This is my 5th or 6th trip to The Mug. I have had good and not so good food here. Today the food was good. We ordered the tenderloin and shredded pork sandwich with slaw and garlic fries to share. He said that tenderloin was good and very filling. There was a good amount of pork on the sandwich and also the slaw. It was very tasty and unlike the last time that I tried it it had no fat or gristle in it. The garlic fries, oh so good, vampires won't come near you for a day! Lunched here twice in during the past two weeks and plan to return to explore the rest of their menu! My out-of-town guests wanted to experience an authentic Hoosier drive-in -- and an authentic Hoosier tenderloin -- so I brought them to the Mug despite the wind and cold. The sandwiches were fantastic, fresh and flavorful without being greasy; the tenderloin was, as hoped, plate sized and crisp without being overcooked. Not a dairy dessert fan myself, but the guest who ordered a gingerbread milkshake instructed me to give it its own 5 stars. The facility has been significantly remodeled. I wasn't even insulted for not taking it plain which is evidently the "Hoosier Way". Well, sorry. I like Mayonnaise. And lettuce. And tomatoes. And Okra - but, not on my sandwiches. Actually, no. Skip that, I don't actually like Okra. Anyway, (trigger warning) moist on the inside, crispy out, the size of a small island. Served with some fries which were amazing. For dessert? Bacon Ice Cream. I'm not even joking. They have it. It's there. The restaurant is cozy and expanded seating all year round by adding a temporary Plexiglas enclosure for the outdoor area during the cold months complete with heat. And it stays pretty warm. The Mug was pretty good. There are high-tech menu boards when you go inside to order. I had the mac & cheese dog and the bacon corn (I think that's what it was called). They take your order and then give you a number to take to your table. You can sit inside. It's a narrow table with tall bar stools. That wasn't the best option for my physically, so we opted to sit outside on one of the picnic tables. Our orders were ready in a timely manner. My hot dog was good. The length of it exceeded the bun. I think they need to have longer buns! The mac & cheese on top of it was also good. My corn? Well, it was pretty good...BUT it came in a teeny TINY cup. Wow. I have never had a side item come in such a small portion. It looked like the size you would put your ketchup in for you fries kinda thing. Oh well. Nobody's perfect I guess. I would come back here. Annual trip to The Mug on our way to Ohio for a family reunion. What a nice, farm to table alternative to fast food on a road trip. Yes, there may be a wait at peak times. That's for a reason. My grilled chicken sandwich was worth the drive alone. I added (fresh cut!) jalapeños and mayonnaise, and the chicken was perfectly marinated. We have been very happy with their food and service three times in the last couple months.
