Pros: The View, brand new apartments, front desk staff and maintenance staff is excellent. Most tenants are very friendly as well. Cons: PLEASE READ EACH BULLET BEFORE THE BEAUTY BLINDS YOU -Managment: Very disorganized and constantly changing rules of building as well as services that they offer you (like the Manhattan Shuttle). They are quick to send you a monthly reminder email about the rent but cannot get their emails organized when you need furniture delivered, among other things... They cannot fully occupy the building so they are skimping on small things they offered (example there is never tea bags at the tea station anymore)... -The building additional charges are ridiculous: 600 amenities fee yearly, 200.00 a month for parking, additional charges for passes for the pool, for renting the bbq grill area. The parking space is only for the car you register and if you park another car in your space they illegally put a boot on your car and charge you 150.00. Oh 75.00 per person on lease, as well as if you loose the pool wrist band (rubber bracelet) there is a 50.00 dollar fee. There is a fee for the loosing the building card too (cannot recall price). Oh and let me not start with the fee to rent the lounge which is over priced and they shouldve just said they dont rent the lounge space then actually tell tenants they have options to rent the space. -Apartments: 2 bedroom apartments have a smaller walk-in closet and main bedroom bathroom than 1 bed room apartments but you are paying significantly more. There is no air ventilation in the apartments so when you cook the whole apartment smells like food for hours. The windows only crack slightly open so its not much help. The kitchen cabinets are tiny and the very light flooring is cheap and falls apart easily. The bathroom drains constantly clog and you have to put in orders constantly for maintenance to either fix the floor, the bathroom drains, the refrigerator (which is suppose to be new), the dishwasher was not properly installed so first week we moved in it had to be fixed and the list goes on. We have heard of apartments flooding among other horror stories. The building is over priced and alot of tenants are not renewing their lease including this family right here..... Please do your research before signing the doted red line. We didnt and have learned our lesson. read more

The building itself has a nice flow to it and the front desk staff are attentive and helpful. The variation of designs between units provides interest. The finishings are of good quality, and thought had been given to closet space. Floor to ceiling windows provide wonderful views in all directions. Buyer beware though as the ground has broken on the south side of the MODERN TO CONSTRUCT A SISTER TOWER, so those hoping to forever have their NYC Skyline views will be disappointed within a year. I have read these reviews and I am quite perplexed on some of the comments. Unfortunately, I am moving out shortly due to a relocation of my job, and I don't think I will be able to match the quality of living here at the Modern. The location is phenomenal, the staff professional and the management office attentive and thorough. I read complaints of lights that look like Vegas, I don't see that. The building is absolutely gorgeous. I've read about rude and unprofessional management, never experienced that. In fact the three girls working there bent over backwards when I ever had an issue. I will miss living here and I hope my next residence is somewhat close to what I have experienced here. read more

I just moved in two weeks ago and I am extremely impressed with everything about this building and the phenomenal staff. From the beginning working with the in-house leasing staff, Nicole was patient, informative and extraordinarily helpful in my lease transaction. Once I began to move in, Karen was amazing in helping me move in smoothly and helped me through the processes of multiple furniture deliveries which was not easy. The apartment is beautiful. The air conditioning was a bit hard to calibrate at first, but when I had an issue, the on-site maintenance staff came up within 10 minutes to help me sort it out. Everyone from the concierge staff to the facilities staff are very friendly. They all know me by name and even know my dog. All in all- great experience, beautiful, clean orderly building- you get what you pay for here. This place is top notch. read more

As a resident, I am totally miffed by the critical and negative comments. Brand new building, over the top amenities, 24 hour security, breathtaking views, walking access to great restaurants, free mini bus to NYC, daily activities for residents, and staff that always smile and cater to the resident's requests. Seriously, what's not to like? I've read many sundry complaints, dogs barking? Never heard it, not once. Snow on my car? All cars are garaged in an indoor lot. Maybe 5% are parked in the exterior perimeter and might get a mini-dusting. Rents might be a little high for Fort Lee but compared to similar sized space in NYC it's a bargain. It's like living in a Four Seasons resort hotel. Great staff and management!!!! read more

My family and I honestly had a great time and enjoyed while staying at the Modern! I know you cannot satisfy everybody and I'm a business owner and I understand, however, the staff did and will do every possible thing they can to make it pleasing for you!! I don't know why people hate it that much!! If you buy a house, well not ALL your neighbors are ok and you get along with, that's the problem and that's all. Building is nice and really the name speaks for it, absolutely The Modern! If it was not for my career and job, we would have been staying there for a long time! Thank you staff and building! The modern apartment building is a beautiful well-designed building I must say. The parking and location of the building won me over. The area is quiet and the staff has made me feel safe and secure. The amenities are wonderful and maintain very well. In short I loved living here. However, as much as I like this building, I will be moving out at the end of my lease term. I have a new project that I'm taking on in Brooklyn and the commute will hinder my progress. I will like to thank the entire staff for making this entire year comfortable and enjoyable for my guess, family, and myself. P.S. my son is going to have a hard time with this move because he enjoys the basketball court, pool, and conversing about sports with the doormen. read more

READ AND THINK TWICE! Please read this and all other "Real residents" reviews before moving in since you may end up trapped in a lease. I moved here in a rush because we didn't have enough time to look around and we figured what could be so bad in a brand new high rise building called "The Modern" right ? Well, it's not really that modern P.S. we are still living here so it can't get more honest than this. I am sure this review won't be too friendly to the management but they already know how we feel. The least I could do is to prevent others from suffering as we have. We are a married professional couple with 3 cars ( $200 per parking space). You will think that paying that amount of money for your car to be inside your building that it will be secure and harm free. Well no, after living here for 3 months my new car was vandalized breaking my rear bumper. I took the car to the body shop and the hole was made with a pointy object that destroyed the bumper of my beautiful brand new car. I called the management and they made me go meet them, their answer was that we have no cameras , and we are NOT responsible for damages occurring in the parking lot (as per the lease). So I'm paying $600 (for my 3 cars ) for them to tell me that they have no cameras and they are not responsible? You should have told me that and I would leave my cars in the municipal parking lot that is probably safer. I paid a lot of money to repair my car and I got nothing from this place. They promised to put cameras on each floor and there are still no cameras. In the winter, the parking lot is so windy and cold that you wonder why you even get an inside space. The lot is open and snow builds in around the cars, rain blows in and the cars get very dusty. There was some form of acid that was leaking from the ceiling onto the cars, not just mine but a few of them (I took pictures). They did repair that but at first the assistant manager was trying to make me feel like I was a liar saying "we don't have any other complaints" Maybe because not everyone wants to deal with this management but I do care about my stuff. The management is not responsive and sometimes they won't even answer your emails and some of them are rude. My wife found the assistant manager in the elevator and while she was talking to her she let the elevator doors close on my wife while she was still talking. Now to the apartments, cheap and bad design. Cheap floors and tiles, the bathroom floors are textured white tiles so they are hard to clean and to keep clean. The whole apt. gets really dusty after a day or two of deep cleaning. The air conditioners repeatedly fail. The maintenance people are usually helpful and after several repairs we hope it lasts. If you have an emergency at night, be aware that they will send you a person that tells you to wait until the next day after pushing every single button on the thermostat and not being able to help. The cigarette smell that comes from our neighbors is intolerable. My wife is a social smoker but she won't smoke inside the apt. to respect me and the neighbors. This apt. does have not enough ventilation to be able to smoke in them. Maybe the neighbors smoke so much in their places because there is no place to smoke in the whole building other than the middle of the parking lot. People are not allowed to smoke on the deck but they are allowed to poison the hallways and apartments. The whole thing makes no sense. Some of the old front desk and staff were really nice and friendly but they change staff every couple of months. Be ready for rude and unprofessional behavior from the front desk. As an example, when you approach the front desk, you are greeted with a "whats up. There are also the occasional dirty looks from some of them too. Even though you pay a $600 amenities fee, be ready to jump in an ice cold pool the whole summer because according to some building staff, "the management is trying to save money". Without exaggeration, the pool was 65 degrees at the end of the Summer. They claim to have a heated pool but apparently they try not to use the heating system as much as possible. Most of the grills were not working this summer and a few times when we went to our booking, the grill was occupied by someone else. I have lived here for 2 years and the only night I felt like trying the sauna, it was out of order. The internet lounge, pool table and sauna closes at 12 so if you feel like working late or using the amenities, you won't be able to. Last but not least, we were charged $175 late fee, the day after we paid. We were out of town and the last day you have to pay the lease without being charged is the 5th of the month, we paid the 6th at 1am, and even though the late fee was not reflected yet, management went out of their way to add it to our next bill, Yes! a late fee that was not there. We hope to leave very soon and we figured why not help people out with an honest review. read more

The staff at the modern is wonderful. They are engaged, caring, and so helpful!! My fiancé and I moved in last May and we couldn't be happier. The building itself is gorgeous, and the amenities, on top of its location just steps from the city are incomparable. We worked with Nicole in the rental office and she went out of her way to help us through the process, and was always available to us when we had questions or concerns. Now that we live there we can't say enough good things about the rest of the staff at the modern. The handymen know us by name, the front desk staff are impeccable, professional, friendly, and courteous, the porters are so helpful and genuine. There are still some kinks to work out in the management, but it seems to be improving as everything settles out. Honestly, I'm a bit sad to be leaving the building. I've been a resident for a year and a half, and if I didn't have to move out of state for a new job, I would have extended my stay here. Maintenance and Front Desk Staff are rockstars, and the amenities only improved as time went on. i recently moved into the 100 park building and it is exceptional. nothing on the market is comparable. the units are top of the line quality, generous space, and amenities are like living in a five star hotel. guests are blown away by the property- spa, bowling, gym, grills and fire pit, etc make every day a vacation. the staff are so friendly and helpful. living here has made my life much less stressful with all of the help they provide through the on site concierge service, and helpful building staff. i wake up every morning with a brighter outlook because of the amazing views and bright space. was here on a 14 month lease - this was generally a nice place to live when there werent so many tenants, but now at almost full capacity, doesnt seem private anymore.however that is expected when you sign a lease into a monstrous building and find that your unit is so tiny. amenities pool area usually isnt TOO crowded but i fear for next summer, it will be completely full BBQ areas available to reserve but only for 2 hours. management should make sure that people cancel reservations if they arent able to use the grills, so that other tenants can reserve them. this happened on a few occasions during the summer weekends gym - clean for now but as all amenities go, they'll only stay clean as the upkeep staff i agree with the previous comments, the generally nicer front desk are no longer there. most of the staff now are still nice and welcoming, but seems like there is a new addition every other week. management office is really a hit or miss, i am guessing the angry emails are probably from one of their bad days but should never be taken out on tenant emails. building the building itself is not bad, it does get extremely cold in the winter and extremely hot in the summer. be sure to remember to add in the cost of PSEG, will be about 80-100 a month for moderate use (considering the amount of space you are cooling/warming this is quite a lot) you can hear wind in the hallways but you get used to it the building will lose power once in a while, but you get used to it the fridge seems to kill all of our vegetables no matter what temperature/control you put it, but you get used to it programs right before our departure, they started adding more programs for the tenants, including programs for kids, happy hours (usually once a month) movie nights, food trucks (not free). if youre paying the rent here, you need to take advantage of these moving out scheduling the move out was pretty easy because we scheduled it 3 weeks in advance we are only getting back HALF of our security deposit due to a "cleaning fee" and "floor repair fee" after i read the reviews on other people not receiving their full security fee, i was afraid this was going to happen to us and it did. we did not walk inside the apartment with shoes, nor did we constantly move furniture around. which means, there's no reason to repair anything on the floor. after i received pictures from management (even if they ARE even from our apartment) i was confused as the pictures show MINIMAL damage to the floors, and if the same thing happened to others, it must be the floors and not the tenants scratching them up after only about a year of light use, no? the charge for cleaning was even more upsetting. we left the apartment, no trash moderately cleaned. i think the modern expected us to clean it spotless for the next tenant. no other place i have ever lived would have charged us for a cleaning fee for how we left it. i asked for pictures, and they send me pictures of corners that had DUST. they make you feel like you left the place a dump, when in fact, they just dont want to incur the cost of the professional cleaning for the new tenant that they should be responsible for anyway. in conclusion the modern will use what they can to get you to move in, 1-2 months free, only 1k security deposit, friendly communications, but once you do, you WILL feel trapped as you slowly realize you arent getting what you paid for at the modern. and then you get slapped with ridiculous fees from your security deposit to let the dissatisfaction linger even until after you leave read more

We moved into the Modern earlier this month, and we couldn't have experienced a better team to work with. Since the first day that we did our walk through at the Modern, Christina (part of the management team) has provided exceptional service. From consistent updates on apartments that might be a good fit, to staying late to do a walk through for us. When we ended up choosing our apartment, she went through great lengths for us to make sure that we were able to process the application before someone else took it out of the market. When it came to move in day, we were unfortunately unprepared in regards to the insurance and electric requirements, but Karen from the management team helped us sort it out in a matter of minutes, allowing us to complete the move as planned. Since living here for a couple of weeks, we could not have felt better about our decision. From the team at the front desk, to the amenities staff and management team, everyone has been wonderful. We feel very welcomed and it is truly a luxurious experience. read more

If you think you can live in an apartment without ever interacting with the property manager, go ahead. After all, the amenities are not bad and the security is good. The property manager Beth needs to learn how to address residents in a professional manner. She is the most unprofessional, rude, and snarky property manager that I have ever encountered. A conversation takes two ways and I believe listening plays a crucial role in any conversations. She is the kind of person who talks to you nonstop one way and does not give you a second to talk. She always talks in a condescending and aggressive manner, and turns what could be a conversation into an argument. It is always unpleasant after speaking to her. Also, emails just don't go missing. If it didn't go through, it might have returned to you. I always had to send a reminder to her to get a response. Whenever I asked if she got my email the first time, she always told me she didn't get it. I almost emailed the SJP properties president office to complain about her attitude, but I didn't bother. The previous property manager Ben Sloan was also terrible. He was the property manager when the Modern first accepted residents back in late 2014. He didn't deal with a harassment case in a professional manner and took his side with the harasser. I still have a police report about this, but I am not going to list details here. The funny thing is that I had a really good experience with other staff members; concierge, doorman, handyman, etc. They were nice, kind, professional, and happy to interact with residents. All the good people that I liked left already. This building has a high employee turnover. Take this however you like. read more

I don't know why all these people that have not lived in the Modern are posting positive reviews. Seems kind of ridiculous as you have nothing to do with the place. First, the sound proofing on this building is HORRIBLE!! I had to make complaints all the time because the unit right below mine had people come over almost every night until 4am!! They used to be really loud, but after a few complaints, it kind of got better. However, even them just having a regular conversation and laughter here and there will be heard. That's how cheap the build quality is, of this building. Second, Cigarette smell & Marijuana smell will creep up into your unit. I had both managers come up to my unit and check it out, and they were like, "how do you know it's the unit right below yours? It may be from 5,6 floors below & just coming up through the vents." I was like, "Are you F'in serious?? I'm paying all this money to live in a place where I can smell cigarettes and marijuanas from several units below?? I shouldn't be smelling this, period!!" Third, when I was doing the walk-through before moving in, Brittany, the amenities manager as well as Beth told me that the dining table on the amenities floor can be used on a first come first serve basis, as long as there are no reservations made by someone else, at the same time. I clearly remember them saying it. However, as we were preparing to have our baby shower, which was on a saturday, at 3pm, with NO ONE else around in the amenities floor, we basically got confronted by the "new" amenities manager, and was told we couldn't use the place. I asked to speak to Beth, the property manager, but was told it was her day off, and when she contacted Karen, the assistant manager, she basically told us we cannot use it, unless we pay to use the place. I asked to speak to her on the phone myself, but she was too busy to deal with me. Basically, the baby shower was 20 minutes away with guests arriving soon, and we had to move it up to our apartment. I told them this is not right, that you tell me one thing to make me move in, and then when the time comes for us to use it, use the "contract" to corner us with no other choice left. The management is not there to help you out, but like the previous reviews noted, they think they are above you and doing you a favor by letting you live there. After living in my own house for the most of my life, I just rented it out for the heck of it, as I was going to live my last year as a single. However, living here was just a nightmare. I am so glad I moved back into my own house. No more noises from the construction all during the day, No more having to stay up all night because of the unit below wanted to have people over every other day, which woke up my baby, NO MORE having to worry about my baby smelling cigarettes and marijuanas!! Oh, and by the way, the washer and dryer break down all the time. Refrigerator freezes whatever you put in the fridge. Oh, and if you should ignore all the previous warning and decide to move in, forget about your security deposit, no matter how carefully you use the unit. This new building is beautiful, and massive. They hosted an Elite Event but I am not going to be reviewing the event just reviewing the building. They house a little over 400 units in the complex. The building is equipped with the latest electronics, from the elevators to the golf simulator. The amenities are top notch, they have a spa for massages, an infinity pool, golf simulator, sauna, spin room, gym, weight room, a puppy and bubbles thing and probably some additional amenities that I am forgetting. They charge a fee and that is per unit and yearly, it is definitely over priced but they really stand alone without competition in the area. The units have high end kitchen finishes, with GE appliances. The closets were large and walk in but were underwhelming and missing some finishing touches. The zone climate control is awesome, and the resident is only responsible for electricity and cable/ internet which is nice since the oven's are gas. The washer and dryers are stacked and do not vent outside but that is typically the case. Bathrooms were okay, nothing really spectacular about them. The units all have floor to ceiling windows and come with custom shades..THANK GOD because custom shades are super pricey and for a rental a huge pain in the butt!! It is a really nice feature to have already installed, I paid a boat load for the ones in my current rental unit and they cost me 1500, so I was really impressed with that here at the Modern. The units I saw were mostly comprised of usable space which is important. The bedrooms and the living rooms were pretty comparable in size. The rent is kind of pricey considering it is Fort Lee, not closer to the tunnels although you are overlooking to GW and Manhattan. I just felt it was overpriced for the area despite the building being so high end. Dawn, the leasing agent, gave us a tour. She was so knowledgeable and energetic it was hard not to want to sign a lease on the spot!! My lease is coming up soon and I would really consider moving here but maybe negotiating on the amenity fee ;) Oh, and parking is additional 200 a month per vehicle and there is a complimentary shuttle that takes you to 175th in Manhattan to the A train that takes you to PA in Times Square. TL;DR Version: Lived here for 8 months; flashy on the outside, overpriced crap on the inside. I have been living here for 8 months now and I have formed an opinion about this so-called luxury apartment. Since many people probably consider the rent as a factor in their renting decision, I would like to address the matter of fees first. The management see it fit to charge you for anything and everything. -$500 pet fee at the start of the lease for each pet. -$50 pet rent every month for each pet. -$200 monthly parking fee for for each vehicle in a semi-enclosed parking structure that is unusable when there is a snow storm. -$600 amenity fee for amenities that are locked after 10pm. -$55 for a refrigerator water filter replacement. And probably more fees I have yet to discover. If you factor in all these hidden fees, it might be cheaper to live in Manhattan. Since they charge a high-ish rent and a cornucopia of fees, one would assume that the management would provide excellent customer service and maintenance within the unit; one would be wrong. Let me start out by saying I am sure the management has never been trained in any type of customer service let alone high-end luxury customer service. They are unfriendly, unprofessional, and their communications are logically incoherent and filled with typos. The head management lady shares a last name with one of the investors/developers and I assume this is how she got her job. I would like to highlight an example of the management's incompetence. I was not involved in this fiasco so I do not have an axe to grind, but I heard about this matter through another resident that was affected. A water pipe burst in one of the unoccupied units on a high floor and nobody realized this until a resident complained that there was water coming out from under another unit's door; by this time, the water had totally flooded the unit and seeped into the walls. The water had then made its way down through the walls to all the units below it in that line resulting in water damage in the walls and leakage into the units. This is disturbing, but understandable. What the management did afterwards is not understandable. When residents living in that vertical line of apartments started complaining about water leakage into their apartments, the management brought in a "third party expert" to look at the units with water leakage. This "expert" said she could not see or smell any water damage and that it would not be a problem to keep living in the unit. This continued despite continued complaints until some residents threatened legal action. The management then decided to move all the affected residents to a different unit until the repairs on the affected units were completed and then have them move back into the original affected units again; incompetent. While some of the maintenance staff are friendly, they are so over worked that it usually takes maintenance half a day to get to your apartment after telling you they will be at your apartment "soon." This is made worse by the fact that they use cheap appliances that require constant repairs in the units. Most of the friendly front desk staff have left the building citing better pay elsewhere; they have been replaced, but some of the new hires aren't as efficient or friendly as the staff that left. And while this is a nit-picky complaint, the free tea selection in the resident lounge was somewhat decent until someone decided that they would rather pad their paycheck than provide something nice to the residents. The units are equipped with nice-looking appliances that are unreliable at best. The worst offenders are the washer, drier, and refrigerator. -The washer is a small inefficient unit that never leaves your clothes feeling super clean. -The drier has no air vent, so your clothes just tumble on and on with all the moisture that was placed in the drier at the outset resulting in no drying action at all. -The refrigerator has a water spout on the inside of the refrigerator that does not have a cup receptacle mechanism to turn on the water flow so you are forced to use one hand to hold the cup and the other hand to press the uncomfortable water button to get filtered water from the refrigerator. The management knew they were putting in sub-par appliances because they had the foresight to install a coin laundry on the second floor for a building that was supposed to have in-unit washers and driers. These machines require about $3 per wash and $3 per drying; just another wonderful way the management nickel-and-dimes you to oblivion. The final complaint is about the layout and soundproofing of the units. The apartments are designed so that the wall in my bedroom where the headboard was intended to go is my neighbor's living room wall where the TV was intended to go. Due to the poor sound proofing of the units, this creates a problem when I want to go to bed and my neighbor wants to watch TV; I know her favorite shows now! read more

Moving into the modern this month and thus far the process has been very pleasurable. If you go you must ask for Hollie she is so amazing!!! Warm, friendly, and most of all knowledgeable! She was always on call for every question or concern I had. I look forward to moving! i have now moved out of the MODERN, and i must say that my overall experience was amazing. i actually cried on move out day LOL the staff became like extended family, and were the best part of living here. obviously the doorman & staff that you see everyday are always friendly; but the office staff was just the same. after living here for a year i can see why some might have complaints but i think its a case of your get what you give. even the people who were not the friendliest in the beginning were all exceptional on my move out. i had some damage to the apartment and had to leave it fully painted and they were so understanding, although i have not found out what the cost will be the process was so smooth and they were pretty understanding. i could not have asked for a better experience! in regards to the apartment itself; i was also very pleased here as well. i think i got lucky because i was in a unit near the elevator so i had no noise in the apartment at all. i had 1 issue of my fridge going out, but it was repaired that same day! lastly i don't think i need to get into the amazing amenities! i used the gym on a weekly basis. always clean, always stocked, machines always work properly, and the onsite GYM GUYS really help to get the most out of it. overall it was one of the best experiences! read more

I moved to the Modern from Long Island and I needed to move in ASAP. I met with Christina and she was very friendly, professional and helpful in showing me what was available immediately, giving me a complete tour of the building and amenities and guiding me through the process of filing out all the forms to get the process completed. I was able to get occupancy the following week. The welcome package was also very helpful in getting all the utilities and services in place when I took occupancy. The concierge staff was also very friendly and helpful in coordinating the delivery of furniture and many deliveries I received. I saw other buildings nearby and none compared to the Modern and its amenities for similar costs. Everyone who visits loves the apartment and the building in general. I use the gym frequently (I have not worked out regularly in the past) and I feel great. I can't wait for the weather to warm up to use the pool and outdoor screen. The representatives were thorough, helpful and courteous, not pushy. The place sells itself if you don't mind being so close, I mean VERY close to major highways feeding GW bridge. Great views and auto access. Could not imagine living here without a car. Place is generally pricey but deservedly upscale. Rooms are well laid out but small except for great kitchens and huge windows. Gym facilities excellent. Lobby staff helpful and friendly. Great location if Fort Lee is your thing. read more

This is a beautiful building. The apartments are spacious and the views will blow you away, even the ones facing back toward NJ. There's just about every amenity you could want, including a big outdoor deck area with barbecues and an infinity pool. I'm a dog owner so the fact that it's pet-friendly is a big plus. Plus if you commute there is a free shuttle to NYC which is nice to have. It's definitely at the higher end of the market in terms of price, but if you're looking for a luxury building, it feels like you get a lot more for your money here. read more

Let me start off by saying if It were possible to give this place ZERO STARS I would of done just that. Before moving in about 7 months ago, we went on Yelp and read all the TRUTHFUL NEGATIVE reviews warning us about this place that are now under the "reviews that are not currently recommended" section which I think is ridiculous. Anyway..we decided to take a tour and fell in love with the view from our current apartment. The lady that was giving us a tour from the leasing department was very friendly and urged us not to believe the reviews. We stupidly ignored all the red flags and went on with signing the lease because the building is indeed beautiful. Beautiful is NOT sufficient though. My main complaint is the door man and a couple of specific individuals at the concierge desk. Now I don't expect them to have an astonishing IQ, but seriously..ever heard of common courtesy and customer service?! Why do they hire such rude and overly arrogant individuals to be the first faces we see coming in and out of what is supposed to be OUR HOME Aka our happy place! I'm sorry but no thank you! Paying over 3k in rent every month is wayyyyyyyy too much money to be "greeted" (if they even feel like greeting you on that day) by rude people that were put there to enhance the experience of the building in the first place only to ruin your day. If the modern wants good reviews on here, I strongly recommend that they have an intervention and seek to fix the "concierge issue" because multiple people have been complaining about the same issues with them. I've had multiple horrible experiences with the concierge and "door man" myself and I can not believe that a place that expects so much from their tenants hires the most unqualified people. I can go on for days about this but moving on, most people on here complained about management. Our personal experience with management has been a very minimal in all fairness. The few experiences with them have been neutral and they give off an overall vibe of firmness on rules which I see to be as a good thing. My final complaint about this building is how cheap the floors are along with appliances and finishes of the apartment. I suppose we are paying this much for our astonishing view because the materials used to make this place certainly do not scream "luxe". The amenities are just whatever as well. They close off most amenities at a certain time which can get quite annoying. To summarize, do not waste your money with this place!!! If you want an amazing view, reasonable pricing or at least getting what you pay for, and an actually qualified concierge/doormen I advise you to look elsewhere. Since there is no early termination option, we are literally counting down the months until we can finally move out!!! read more

Not sure why all the negative comments. I have lived here since February 2015 after more than 40 years in the city. The apartment is beautiful, views spectacular, staff polite and always ready to help. All the comments about needing to keep the air conditioning on in the summer...well what do you expect when you are living in a super modern all glass building - come on now, you can always go down to the beautiful amenities deck to relax by the pool, stretch out on a chaise lounge and cool off in the always present cooling, soothing breezes. I have never once been bothered by noise from either the hallway or from neighbors...quiet and restful regardless of day of week or time of day or night. And if you want convenience, this is the place. With an on site shop for that forgotten quart of milk, roll of paper towels, or a snack when the munchies grab you; an on-site car wash; concierge services; food trucks multiple times during the week (in winter and summer); grilling in the summer on the deck (winter too if you like); and interior dog runs so our four legged friends don't have to go outside in inclement weather...There are also commercial sized washer/dryers available for tenants use for those larger items however, I have never found a need to utilize as the Bosch washer dryers in the apartment are large enough for king sized bed linens. Thanks to The Modern staff and management - your caring and attention to detail is most appreciated! We are looking forward to the opening of Horizon Lights across the street - shopping, cinema, restaurants...all good. read more
