This is an amazing park with hiking trails that literally go over the river (stream) and through the woods. Lots of different trails of varying degrees of difficulty. Great for a stroll, or actual exercise, if that's your thing. There's a wide open field with a cute barn, great for photos, that's about a 5 min walk from the parking place. There's also a little creek that runs down the middle of mountains, one steep, the other more gradual. This park has so many different types of trees, flowers, and mushrooms, and insects, with little plaques that let you know about the local greenery and wildlife. Also. YOU CAN BRING HORSES TO TRAIL RIDE! Horses!! We love going bc the kids almost always get to say hello to a horse or 4. Overall, just a really fun outdoor activity. So obviously touch all things at your own risk. General rule, take nothing but memories, leave nothing but foot prints... but we have picked some things for inspiring the kids in science. I entered at Old Alabama Road parked at Big Creek Park and followed the signs. The trail is well-maintained, clean, and wide enough for cyclists, walkers, and runners to comfortably share the path - in most areas. One of my favorite things about this trail is that much of it is shaded, making for a really enjoyable ride. The park has massave MTB & hiking trails as well. Plus restrooms and pleanty of free parking. The trail system is larger than I expected. There are several connecting paths that was listed as color coded according to the level. I found myself taking a different route than I planned and accidentally made a few complete loops before realizing I had connected to another trail! I completed around 23 miles - easy ride. I'd consider this a great beginner-friendly trail. Most of the ride is relatively flat with only one or two moderate inclines that got me a lil winded. Otherwise, it's an easy, low-impact ride that's perfect for enjoying the scenery. Since the trail winds through neighborhoods, I saw a nice mix of families, casual riders, walkers, runners. Everyone seemed to have plenty of room to enjoy the trail. This is definitely a trail I'll be riding again. A great place for riders of all skill levels. Street parking the far side is next to an outlet so it was great to be able to plug in the battery and do some charging while I explored. While there are no public restrooms or other facilities here, it's a pretty park and a nice stop. There are a number of spots nearby to shop and eat. Lovely. I don't mind driving out into the burb's on weekends as much as weekdays. No traffic! There are so many trails along the Greenway in Big Creek Park to choose from, from beginner to intermediate, to the trails that aren't for the faint of heart. Most of the trails are very biker friendly, so if you've got a road bike or a mountain bike, c'mon down. There are two parking lots: if you're planning on hiking/walking on foot or taking a road bike, I advise you park in the second parking lot, which is closer to the Greenway entrance. You'll pass the first one at the entrance of the park, but drive past to the second entrance on your right (once inside the park, that is)! We did a forest trail (intermediate 1.4 miles) and we also walked along the Greenway. Both have great forest shrubbery and views. The maps seemed to have been stolen or taken down on the Greenway, so make sure to memorize the map at the entrance. Overall I had a magnificent time strolling through Big Creek Park. Stumbled upon two curious deer on the Greenway, who didn't seem startled by the sight of people. What a treat!

She was a histologist but, was never married nor had any children while living alone. Thus, the Friends of Lost Corner was formed and raised about $900k in 2018. The property was then sold to the city after her passing and have been well maintained ever since to preserve the nature in the area. I particularly enjoyed walking on the small trail in the backyard that loops around for about 1 mile in total. Due to the overgrown trees in the area, the trails were well shaded. There's a couple of small bridges when you explore the trails branching off the little loop. I was told that the different flowers will bloom at different times around this time of year.
