Service is very lacking. regulars above newc comers. jusgement at its best and I mean that with every negative factor. People make poor decisions of course and I am willing to say I have left my card with a lingering tab ... I dont make excuses but my father had a heart procedure early January and relapsed 3x in 2 weeks. there was a couple times where I was there and had to leave suddenly and said screw the card and the tab. I projected this information, felt ashamed for it, and instead of courtesy when I asked to leave my tab open on my very established debit card... it was ran and charged twice. I wanted to pay cash bc I needed my card to uber back to roper dt. instead I walked from park circle, to bexley/south Rhett in 30 or below temps while it rained. what happend to locals and true hospitality with understanding? especially when u have become a regular and paid more than u are expected. whats with the 10 dollar surcharge that isn't taken off when u close out? im curious.... read more

As a bartender, I would not return. Not friendly at all it's disappointing. Very sad as it's a great location.

The Mill on East Montague Avenue in North Charleston is a great place for drinks and gathering in a cool and relaxed atmosphere. I really like the location and being able to enjoy everything here. The best bar in Park Circle. Great beer selection for a dive bar and there is a reason so many people continue to come to this place.

This is a top notch dive right here! After getting more acquainted with PC, I've found myself at The Mill more and more. It's definitely part of my regular rotation these days. If there's live music it get pretty loud so if you're looking for a more chill atmosphere you might want to hang somewhere else for a bit, but the live music has been surprisingly good every time I'm there. Pool tables are always great to break up the monotony of bar hopping and you can usually jump on one pretty easily depending on the night. I've never found the bartenders to be rude or unwelcoming and the drinks are pretty cheap too. When you add it all up it equates to one of my favorite types of bars. read more

This is a great dive bar for the Charleston area! It's got two pool tables, arcade games, and mediocre music. It's very spacious inside and has a long list of beers (on tap and draft). It's unlikely any other bar or restaurant on Montague. read more

The Mill was right up my alley. It is a proper dive with a distinct atmosphere that I really enjoyed. I really like some Mercedes Benz hubcap lights on the wall. There was an awesome live band playing with a steel guitar and a huge bass. The drinks were cheap and the staff was quick to get you what you needed. There was also two pool tables and an arcade machine. There was also more than enough space to hang out. There's also a huge space out back if you want to have a quieter space to hang out at. read more

This is where I would hang out if I lived in North Charleston. I still don't understand why everyone is so hung up on Madra Rua, but I digress. The Mill has an EXCELLENT beer selection (Second only to Gene's in the local area) and a little bit of every thing else. There's tables, and bar seating, two pool tables, board games, bar puzzles, decent food live music, wi-fi, "brunch for the rest of us" and the Charleston City Paper's 2008 Critic's pick for best bar bathroom. The bartenders are friendly and greet regulars by name. The food is, well... different. They don't have a big kitchen so it's mostly wraps and salads if I recall. (I haven't been for brunch yet, so I can't speak to that) You're generally better off at the other end of Old North Chuck (The Barbecue Joint, Sesame, EVO) if you're looking for food anyway. On the other hand, if you looking for a low key place to down a few brews or hang out with your friends you should definitely head to the Mill. read more

It's only getting a second star for their beer selection. I went to meet a buddy last night that never showed. It was fairly busy when I first arrived, but I ended up being there alone with the two bartenders for about 30 min. I don't think I've ever felt as unwelcome in a bar as I did at The Mill. I tried to strike up a conversation with each of the only other two people in the room to no avail. Eventually a group showed up to play pool that were interesting. Had three beers (had to ask for each one) and left. The feeling I was left with was that The Mill is TRYING to be a dive bar and the staff are just actors on a stage. Yes, it is a shitty place, but it's not even a GENUINELY a shitty place. I find that just kind of sad. read more

If I could give less than one star for this review I most certainly would. This place qualifies as a dive bar only in that it is incredibly sad, smells horrible, and the service is weaker then a wet paper bag. If you can get beyond the nausea inducing ambient smell, and the sight of old drunks falling off their barstools, then you'll love the rude staff and owner. Drinking a beer in front of a gas station would be a more pleasant experience. read more

This place has some fantastic bands rolling through. It's a great alternative to going downtown or the surrounding areas. Very good, honest and attentive staff. If you are looking for something to do, check their Facebook page to see who's playing. It can be really slow if there is no band. Freakin great bands! read more

The Mill is getting a review upgrade since Covid from me! I haven't been a lot of places since Covid, trying to be as safe as possible, but after being locked down since March, last Friday I just had to get out. I went out with two other couples, my coworkers and their significant others. We bar hopped a couple places in Park Circle and I was honestly so impressed with The Mill and their precautions. They kept a close eye on how many people they let in and only allowed masks off at booths inside and tables outside. I was asked to put my mask back on in the immediate bar area when I got my drink until I got to a table as well as on my way to the bathroom when I got up from my table. I had a bit to drink so it was honestly forgetfulness on my part and I was thankful they had responsible staff to remind me to be safe. I really never expected these kinds of precautious at a dive bar like The Mill, but I appreciate them and they make me want to revisit even with Covid at large. read more

1st time there. Between smelling like a cigarette butt instantly to mean bartenders, the only positive was the neat art on the walls and pool tables... But the bartender sunk the balls before our game was over and kicked us out pre 2. So didn't hear live music, didn't get served a drink despite ordering pre 1:30 last call, and didn't get to finish a game of pool. Pretty sure I won't be back. Best service, Nachos, and PBR in all of Charleston. Make sure to try the famous Long Island Ice Tia or the ice cold refreshing Pabst Blue Ribbon. They also have shots and live music. read more

I am all for supporting local shorty bars but this bar is just beyond shotty...I was on a mini vacation with my gf and wanted to go somewhere close to play a game of pool. The bartenders were so rude I didn't even want to stay but it was getting a bit late and was last call. My girlfriend ordered a gin and tonic for me as my second drink...when I tasted it, it had no alcohol in it...they tried to charge her an extra 4 dollars for a half shot to pour in the drink...when all they had to do was just simply put a splash of gin in the drink that was already purchased...they never resolved this issue, INSTEAD, they argued with me and tried to debunk that it's a 'state law' to only pour so much into a drink. I've been all around South Carolina, and have had my fair share of crappy whole in the walls but at least they knew how to make a decent drink. Enjoyed my stay but never coming here again. read more

Now smoke free indoors! Great spot to check out different bands and there's never a cover charge. They don't have much for food options but you can make an order next door at Park Pizza and the staff will allow you to eat it in the bar. Very large back patio area. Great staff, always friendly (unless you do something wrong - basically, don't be a jerk and they'll treat you right), jukebox, live music, and a fun environment. read more
