    The Mill

The Mill on East Montague Avenue in North Charleston is a great place for drinks and gathering in a cool and relaxed atmosphere. I really like the location and being able to enjoy everything here. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating to make sure that you have everything that you need.

This is where I would hang out if I lived in North Charleston. I still don't understand why everyone is so hung up on Madra Rua, but I digress. The Mill has an EXCELLENT beer selection (Second only to Gene's in the local area) and a little bit of every thing else. There's tables, and bar seating, two pool tables, board games, bar puzzles, decent food live music, wi-fi, "brunch for the rest of us" and the Charleston City Paper's 2008 Critic's pick for best bar bathroom. The bartenders are friendly and greet regulars by name. The food is, well... different. They don't have a big kitchen so it's mostly wraps and salads if I recall. (I haven't been for brunch yet, so I can't speak to that) You're generally better off at the other end of Old North Chuck (The Barbecue Joint, Sesame, EVO) if you're looking for food anyway. On the other hand, if you looking for a low key place to down a few brews or hang out with your friends you should definitely head to the Mill.

    The Rocketz. Great band

This place has some fantastic bands rolling through. It's a great alternative to going downtown or the surrounding areas. Very good, honest and attentive staff. If you are looking for something to do, check their Facebook page to see who's playing. It can be really slow if there is no band. Freakin great bands!

As a bartender, I would not return. Not friendly at all it's disappointing. Very sad as it's a great location.

The best bar in Park Circle. Great beer selection for a dive bar and there is a reason so many people continue to come to this place.

10/10 best bar in Charleston. No frills, no gimmicks, just a great bar with great people and community.

I love The Mill!! Good beer, great atmosphere and music. Just wish it had better ventilation to get rid of the cigarette smoke.

It's not very busy but the customers and staff are very nice, it's a Dive bar through and through but the food and drink options are great!

We bar hopped a couple places in Park Circle and I was honestly so impressed with The Mill and their precautions.

My Wife and I have…read morebeen going to this location for a few months and found that the staff and several regulars have been great and more than welcoming. The staff learns your drink orders fairly quick and some of the regulars become accustom to you and build a pretty good relationship with you within the bar. The food is good and fresh and the drinks are not bad either, however where things get off track are those regulars who basically come off as owners of their area of the bar. My wife recently during one visit spoke with me about feeling a bit uncomfortable with one specific male individual who apparently kept embracing her in a manner she was not ok with. I spoke with the individual on our next visit at the bar and he again hugged her in a manner that neither one of us approved of. When I confronted the person he completely dismissed both our concerns and basically stated that how he was raised it was ok to greet a woman in that manner. I got angry and explained that this is a wife and not some bar chick and that we did not care for the optics of what he was doing. Long story short, one would believe that at a bar where a murder occured only 2 weeks ago people would be more receptive to toning down the riff raft and just enjoying themselves. Well my wife said she wanted to leave and we left after only one drink and I avoided having a physical confrontation with a person that is tone deaf. My only thing to add to this is that when a man tells you to not invade his wife's space you should listen because at this bar people have learned there may not be a next time.

That said, we were NOT told that there was only 1 cook and it would be a long wait for food until wellllll after we placed food orders. Drinks weee not filled in a timely fashion, empty dishes sat for a while. Again, trading on a curve because they were short staffed. But we should have been told from the get-go, not after waiting a really long time to place and order and then waiting a while for the appetizer. I had the Stones burger and ordered medium. It came out well done, that's fine, but it was the driest, hardest hockey puck of a burger you can imagine. My son ordered the breakfast burger and was NOT asked how he wanted the egg cooked, it was cooked runny which he doesn't like, so he didn't eat it after a literal nibble. The fried pickles were the saltiest I've ever had and the portion size was very small, especially after waiting so long for them. Yeah it's a sports bar but the TVs were up so loud any conversation was impossible and it was actually hard to hear the waitress. This was just not a good experience at all. Spent nearly an hour waiting for food while hearing a TV blasting in my ears, not being able to talk to my kids, starving because I saved my calories for this meal, and having lousy food to boot. Do not recommend. J.Ja
