Wish it was better. We're too close to Louisiana to serve poorly seasoned boils. They just put a ton of salt in butter. Tossed in a little cayenne and try to pass it off as Cajun. We coincidentally came in with people we knew and we were gonna sit together. They proceeded to say we were required to pay 18% gratuity for party's 6 or more people, so we decided to sit separately. The workers told us that we wouldn't be able to do that and would still have to pay the 18%. We were splitting up into a party of four and a party of two and even offered to sit on the opposite sides of the building. We asked to speak to the manager, and she was very rude and unprofessional. Food- bad. Service from manager, Jose, to reconcile said food being complained about- worse. First time customer and we ordered take out to go to the hotel and eat since it was near closing time. We ordered a variety: fried cheese, fried pickles, chicken tender basket, crab legs with corn and potatoes, and worst of all soft shell crab. We get it to the hotel and none of the meals have sauce with them. Fried pickles are just pickles coated in a light batter and fried, but they were cold. The chicken tender and fries with two hushpuppies were decent. Crab boil- tried the corn and potatoes and the seasoning (garlic butter) was a weird reddish color that stunk up the whole room. The soft shell crab... first- it isn't what you think. It's a fried breading in the shape of a crab with a paper casing inside the breading. When I bit into it just once it didn't tear and the taste nearly made me vomit the two fried pickles I actually ate. I have never tasted food that bad. When I called the manager, Jose, I explained it all and shared how I wasn't a resident so if I could just come by the next day or even prior to close and get a refund on those two items, I'd bring them back. He talked as though if I brought the food back to look at that he would. The further the conversation went he changed his mind. Said that since I'd already put the boxes in the trash can at the hotel room, and he couldn't return the food to his kitchen, then he can't do anything. Dropped in for a late lunch as I was craving catfish. (2pm) and the place was empty except for the staff which had me a little worried. I ordered the lunch catfish basket with fries. It came with 3 large pieces on a bed of fries with a couple hush puppies. The catfish had a crisp cornbread breading. The meat itself was kind of thin but it tasted ok. We had a volleyball tournament in Benton that our girls won and we all mentioned going to eat here (separately)afterwards. I had four people in my family. On arrival my daughter's friend and her mom walked in behind us and I suggested we eat together. The hostess told us their would be an 18% gratuity charge for parties of six or more. So we immediately said then we won't eat together we can even sit across the restaurant. The hostess was very rude and said y'all are a party so no matter what it's 18%. I restated no, we were gonna sit together since there was maybe three tables on A Sunday at 4:00 p.m. but now we know we will jus split up a family of four then a family of two and a family. About that time our teammates family walks in of five and two babies. They told the mom she would have to pay bc babies were counted(1 year olds) They stayed firm on their policy. So we asked to explain to the manager since the hostess wanted to argue and maybe they just weren't understanding. The young manager came out and was rude as well and stated the policy so we all left. That was 11 people that walked out the door. Headed to Little Rock where this policy doesn't exist and enjoyed the food there. Sad that this place was not interested in the customers and ok with us all being upset and leaving. The service generally was extremely slow even though there we only three other tables with guests. I wanted a fruity virgin drink but was told that they're not allowed to serve virgin cocktails. So I ordered a drink with explicit instructions for more fruit juice and less alcohol. What I got was something akin to long Island iced tea. I took a couple of sips and sent it back and ordered a Coke. I got MY Coke, but my husband had to remind our server that he still had not received his yet. Finally the food arrives and it's mediocre at best. Most notably was the tartar sauce which had a weird taste to it. I tasted cloves, but my husband thinks it had gone off. After much apprehension, we finally decided to try The Mighty Crab. We were seated in April's section. She did a fantastic job waiting on us. I order the fried shrimp basket and my wife order the fried oyster basket. Both came out very quick and fresh out of the fryer. They each tasted great and were seasoned well. The manager Jason came by and checked on us. He thanked us for coming and told us about how he had just taken over as the new manager. Jason explained he is trying very hard to right the past history and negative reviews the restaurant currently has. Tried to order make your own seafood combo on DoorDash but the crab legs aren't listed as an option so I selected the more expensive Thursday combo and added a note to sub sausage instead of shrimp. I was still willing to pay the higher price, even though sausage is cheaper than shrimp. I tried to call the restaurant to verify that my note was received but it literally rang so many times before asking me for an access code to check voicemail! Hung up and tried to call two more times but they hung up in my face as soon as it rang. That should've been a red flag, but I was hoping maybe their phones were messing up or something. Called back one more time and finally someone answered. I told the lady about my order and wanted to make sure they knew I wanted sausage instead of shrimp. While I was trying to explain that simple request, she passed me to the manager who just abruptly stated they don't substitute anything there. First, that is not true because I eat at the NLR location for lunch frequently and it's absolutely an option when making your own seafood bag. And second, this Benton location has done it before with no issue. And third- I was still willing to pay the higher price for shrimp because I didn't want the hassle of trying to mediate pricing issues between the restaurant and DoorDash. We are talking freaking $60 here. And all I was asking was for sausage instead of shrimp. I'd also like to add that there were no customers at the restaurant because we had just driven past but I chose to DoorDash because I didn't feel like stopping. Worst customer service ever and I had to cancel the whole order because she was not interested in helping me at all. Last night was our first time in and most likely our last. My husband had the hibachi and he tilted his plate to pour off all the excess soy sauce it was floating in. I had the catfish with Cajun frys. It was nothing to brag about. There were only 3 tables filled in the restaurant and the waitress said they were washing the forks so she brought us plastic utensils. They've only been open for a few weeks and two toliets in the ladies room were out of order.
