Okay Bay Area! We bringing the heat for concerts and edm music! I live in Socal right now but would happily move back to the Bay Area knowing there is a reliable music or festival scene. Socal definitely gets all the movement for these types of shows but I was so surprised coming here for the first time for John Summit for New Years Day. It was easy to navigate around the venue. Theres street parking and parking where i'm not sure you could park but parked there anyway and nothing happened. Getting inside was bottlenecked at the front and went fast, there are a bunch of smaller venue rooms with smaller artists that I wish I checked out more. It was refreshing walking around before the concert outside to the main hangar/main stage. They had food and porta potties right outside near the hangar which was convenient. Inside the main stage, its covered with a lot of drink tents. Very cool inside and not stuffy becauze it has an open concept. Music quality was okay, some of the artists before were way to quiet in my opinion. John Summit was amazing and the vibes were great. Came here to see knock2 at his blockparty and it was just pretty unorganized. First of all, they didn't even check our bags when we went through security. That gave me an unsettling feeling walking in, because anyone could sneak anything. Also felt like there were no set lines to get in, we just barged in through the gates when they checked our ID's. Only then after, there were gates to form proper lines. At least the porta potties didn't stink, surprisingly. They probably had strong lemon air fresheners to keep the stench masked. I still tried enjoyed my time here, even with the overcrowding and the crowd not being very plur. The Midway is one of my favorite music and event venues in the city. The parking is typically easy to find, I feel safe, the space is a decent size where you won't really feel super packed in, there will be walking space and various rooms to check out. They have a coat check area, ATMs, a dining area where you could order beverages or food, an outdoor area for anyone who wants to be outside or is a smoker. There are several bars to order drinks and there is free water at the bar. Some of the rooms have areas where you can sit, but its first come, first served usually and is on the perimeter of some of the spaces. The staff here have always been super nice and professional. Last time I was here, it was around Halloween and they had themed decor spead out in various areas. It's easy to run into familiar faces here and also easy to meet up with friends if you arrive separately. We got to go on stage one evening which was a fun experience! I would say that the events I have attended in the past have been fun and worth the price of the ticket I may have paid for. I've been to The Midway before for events, but this visit was honestly unacceptable. Upon walking into the venue, there was a strong sewage smell that hit immediately--it wasn't subtle. As the night went on, the situation escalated when the women's restroom floor became pooled with who knows what, making it unsanitary and uncomfortable to use. For a venue that hosts large crowds and paid events, this points to a serious infrastructure and maintenance issue. A sewage smell and flooded bathrooms aren't minor inconveniences--they're health and safety concerns. It completely detracted from the experience and I'd think twice before going back. read more

Been to several EDM events here, one at The Ride and another at 888 Garage. The production, sound quality, and lighting are great. I'm always amazed at the quality of artists performing and the tickets are very affordable. The whole place just has a positive vibe, staff are friendly and professional, and in general the people attending are positive. The bartenders are fun! Restroom situation is ok, but could be better, especially at 888 Garage. The parking situation could be challenging for some--street parking, and there's not a lot of it. My recommendation is to park elsewhere and take Muni (stop at Marin St. is across the street from the venue) or use a rideshare service or taxi. I usually love coming here for events but this past weekend I had the worst experience with a specific bartender. She has green in her hair and was one the rudest person i had to deal with. She was upset because my friend did not tip her because she asked for plain water!!!! Then i asked for drink and her attitude was so rude and bitter. This is a review of the Midway 888 Garage. No doors on the majority of the bathrooms was absolutely not okay. There were about 3 restrooms with doors which the lines were extremely long for. Forcing women to either expose themselves in the doorless bathrooms or wait it out in line. Do better put doors on your stalls wtf. read more

I've been to the place twice and honestly don't care to come here ever again. It's not that I had a bad experience, I just hate how out of the way and inconvenient it is to get here. Even more, the severe lack of drink options. The menu was significantly overpriced. Each drink my wife ordered literally was presented to her with a decent amount of ice and in a tiny airline sized cup. You can't even justify the high prices because the drink options were so limiting that I literally ordered nothing. The only reason I drank any alcohol is because my wife ordered more and passed on her drinks to me that she didn't want to finish. I also wasn't too fond of the audience. I don't know if it was because the event was on a Friday and people got off work so they were tired, but the people we encountered were definitely rude and unfriendly. On the plus side, the security, bartenders, and other employees were very welcoming. The venue itself is very spacious and has good sound quality. It's also worth noting that the light displays from the artist who are playing, were stellar. Even I didn't have the greatest time, venue itself, and the people who work there were of high-quality. For those reasons, I give this place a 3/5. read more

Came here for the first time recently for Alan Walker over the July 4 weekend. Since it was my first time here, I wasn't sure what to expect. Hopefully this review helps others, since I was not able to find much information online. I drove and was able to find parking ~15 minutes walk away in the Dogpatch. There is a lot of street parking in the area, so as long as you're willing to walk a bit, you should be able to find parking. I bought tickets to the block party, which runs from 3-10 pm, but I figured as the headliner, Alan Walker would probably come out later. My friend and I arrived 7:30 pm and GA lines to enter weren't long. We got in pretty easily. We had dinner before coming, but we saw some food trucks inside as well. When we arrived, the other headliner Audien was still playing, but Alan Walker came out soon around 8 pm and played until 10 pm. There are some indoor areas at the Midway. We walked around and explored some of the inside rooms when we first arrived, but the music there didn't really appeal to me so we didn't stay. The main stage is outdoors, so make sure you are dressed appropriately! Some girls were wearing crop tops and skirts, and I don't know how they weren't freezing. I had my jacket on the whole time, and I think most people did too. I saw some folks on Reddit recommend bringing ear plugs. I brought some disposable ones just in case, but we stood far back enough from the stage where I didn't need them. read more

Bingo Loco was great! The host/MC was really funny! He kept the crowd laughing with the corny but funny jokes and shenanigans. It was a mixed group of people of many cultures, preferences, and ages. No judgement, nor negativity. Just laughter, love, and fun. I had seen this experience on social media, but I wasn't sure what to expect when I actually got here. Believe me when I tell you, the experience was just like advertised, but even better, because now we were able to join in on the vibe. The tickets weren't expensive at all. They served food, beer (no hard alcohol), and soft drinks for a fee of course. Which was fine. we were there to party and play bingo, not get wasted anyway : ). The bingo cards was definitely something I'd never seen. They aren't set up like the traditional bingo cards, but once they explain the rules to you and how to play, it starts to make more sense. This is a MUST do experience if you're looking for fun. I suggest going with a fun open-minded group of people. It will make it so much better! read more

Not a bad event space at all. I was worried with all the negative reviews. Sure, the security was pretty rude, but everything else about the venue was excellent. I didn't expect the floor to be so huge. Plenty of space to navigate and dance at the "Elephante" show. And impressed with the lighting. They also have a kitchen that makes some pretty crispy fries that closes at 1am. Their salsas are also delicious. Great venue, love the mirror in the hallway to take pics. Multiple rooms and outdoor stage. bathrooms relatively clean and love that they provide water and cups. For parking it usually sucks, but if you go to the lot on the end of the Cesar Chavez street right before Maryland street (just search NTK construction) it's free to park at night. There's a bogus scam guy that charges for parking just ignore him and drive inside, might need to move the cones. He doesn't work there he's just out there trying to scam people to pay for parking. VIP strangely doesn't get honored here. I bought a ticket for VIP directly from the Midway who leverages Tixr, so I know what I bought wasn't resale. It legitimately has my name on the ticket. After bag check/ID check, I was led to a small table with two women asking to see my ID just to tell me my name wasn't on the VIP list to begin with. I told them forget about it because I had friends in GA and didn't plan on truly leveraging VIP to begin with. First time at the Midway went as smooth as any festival could go. Went to see Alesso, which should have been super crazy but everything was smooth sailing. The lines to get in was fast, no lines for three bar, line for bathroom was only a few minutes and we were able to get all the way to front row for the show. I usually only do VIP but my friend wanted to do GA but I'm glad we did GA because VIP wasn't necessary since everything was so smooth. I don't have any complaints but I do wish the barricade was a bit closer to the stage. Bathrooms weren't so clean but can't expect much for a festival. Overall, I do like that it's a smaller, more intimate venue. read more

We purchased VIP tickets to Two Friends with a group. VIP is a joke. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!! The biggest concern here is that there is absolutely zero security check... in this day and age this is UNACCEPTABLE and UNSAFE. One thing I liked about the venue was the indoor/outdoor concept. At 1:30 am they started closing all the doors, which caused me to panic as there was no longer airflow through the very crowded venue. We tried to get out and they were making everyone leave out of one door without any clear signage or explanation. Our friend did some research on the venue and turns out they're getting sued for overselling tickets which created unsafe conditions. THIS HAS NOT CHANGED! Had the chance to visit The Midway this past weekend for Bingo Loco. Overall, I was impressed by the venue given the cleanliness, organization, and size. It seems from the reviews that the experience is event dependent. Anyhow....starting with the parking - there is ample parking around the venue, both spaces (vertical marked spaces around the front/side) and street parking (around the back/other sides). The area seemed a bit sketchy but industrial, so we weren't too worried about our car safety and there were a lot of street lights in the area as well. Once at the venue, getting in was quite easy. They had stanchions set up to control the line and then there was a brief bag and ID check followed by ticket check. Very quick and efficient, plus staff was friendly and polite. Inside the venue is LARGE! Our event didn't have food, but ample bars so there was never a line to get drinks despite the event being sold out and quite a lot of people present. Again, this may be event specific, but they had drink buckets for sale as well as normal cocktails + specialty cocktails (watermelon red bull margarita, anyone?) and beer/wine. The restrooms were large and surprisingly clean for that type of venue. I was shocked that every stall seemed to have a working toilet and there were plenty of paper towels! Even at the end of the event, the bathroom line went quickly since the bathrooms had so many stalls/sinks. My one issue (and I hesitate to even call it that) is that the tables and chairs were so close together, it made it hard to get out and pass between the rows when going to/from the bars/restrooms. I think this is so they could fit as many people in as possible, but it definitely seemed like a fire hazard. Great experience and would love to attend another event here - looks like they have some fun concerts! read more

After hearing about this spot from fellow EDM fans, I finally got to check it out this past weekend for the Deadmau5 show. It was a block party event that went from 2-10pm, and when we got there around 5:30, the line to get in wasn't bad at all. The place is pretty big and had two stages going. The indoor stage was really cool, kinda reminded me of the Yuma tent at Coachella, and it was never packed, so getting to the front or right by a speaker was easy. The bars inside were less crowded and never was a line to purchase drinks. The outdoor stage was on the narrow side, but the sound traveled towards the back. I liked how I didn't feel crowded and had plenty of space around which as I get older, is a plus for me. Great visuals and stage production. Couple of things I didn't enjoy was the lack of handwashing stations and hand sanitizer available near the porta potties. I mean that itself is self explanatory. Also, the lack of seltzer options is a missed opportunity. Not a huge fan of Necktar seltzers, I would've bought more if it was claws, bud light seltzers or even trulys. Although I gotta say drinks were reasonably priced considering it's a concert venue. For food, we tried their pizza and were blown away at how good it was. A perfect bar pie, tasty sauce and cheese, it was the surprise of the night. Being on this side of town, it definitely gets cold at night, so bring a jacket. I mean it's SF, never leave home without a jacket. They did have a coat check, so if you need to, at least that's available If you are a fan of EDM music, I don't know how one could not like this place, it's literally the only venue in the Bay built for this style of music when it comes to stage production and a quality sound system. definitely look forward to coming back to watch other edm artists and get an order of that pizza. read more

I'll begin by saying that all the staff here are GREAT. Security has always been good to me, bartenders have always been good to me, lighting and sound has always been amazing. However, the people who own this place and run the website/support need to be fired. They do not have a phone number to call, only an SMS line which they NEVER ANSWER. I had multiple questions about ticketing which i sent multiple texts to them about. They claim they respond, but they never responded to me once. If you need to know about start times, accessibility, or any other venue info you will not be able to reach them. This caused a whole disaster as my friend who was 20 years old was turned away from an event she bought tickets for even though it was not advertised as 21+ A simple text or phone call would fix this but this venue is too cheap to hire someone to answer the phone. The next issue is about ticketing. They use this awful platform Tixr for all their tickets. This platform has so many bugs and glitches. There's very little info there as well. They do not allow for resale so you cannot resell extra tickets, or buy them secondhand if they're sold out. They need to get rid of Tixr and find a better ticketing service if they care at all about their fans. The pricing is also outrageous and unjustifiable. A single can of soda was $9.32. I can't imagine what alcohol costs. For a venue this big they need to get their act together. I have seen smaller venues operate better, i've seen bigger venues operate better. They put 0 effort into customer service and gouge customers on prices WORSE than festivals and ballparks. They don't need to charge those prices, they choose to. I love this venue. It was my first time here about a year ago and it's one of my good memories! I love the pop-up restaurant it's convenient. They had a couple of rooms open at the time for people to sit back and relax and another room for photos which was so cute! It was all good vibes the food just made it 2x better!. We came to The Midway to see a Dj and it was so much fun! This place has a nice sound system, the bathrooms are pretty clean, the visuals look awesome and the venue is nice overall. There are a few different bars with overly expensive drinks. Their vodka and whisky were not that great, so I recommend sticking to the beer. It does get pretty hot in there and I am not even sure if there is an AC. I think if you pregame and love EDM you will have fun here! read more

Terrible security - both staff and the venue. First of all, there are no security precautions. They'll check your bag but that's it. No metal detectors. Basically if you have anything hidden in your body you'll be able to go in. Attend events here at your own risk. Security guards are on a huge power trip, thinking they're law enforcement and will talk down on you and are downright disrespectful and arrogant. Please hire better people because I did not feel safe for one second inside this venue. Really upsetting that we didn't really get what we paid for. All we saw were the DJs on stage all night... we thought Summer Walker was gonna be on stage ... we bought the tickets through Spotify thinking that this was a show (it literally said she's the talent). People were shoving their way in to get as close to the stage as possible. Doors opened @8pm & they announced around 10:30 pm that she will not be performing tonight. Everyone was mad because we stood there waiting feeling stupid... We checked Summer's Instagram a few mins later and it said that it was "never a performance". So many people started leaving because this was not what they paid for! The DJs didn't even play a single song of hers which was just funny. I will provide screenshots so you can see for yourselves. Okay, the Midway still crushes!! We went to the Kaskade block party and the Sound Engineer, Chad made us the most dialed in grilled cheese I've ever had in my life! Chad should be known as the sound engineer or the gods!! The guy gets up onto the stage and gets Kaskade's decks ready and then BOOM! The sound was so good, I couldn't even consider leaving until it was time to get kicked out. There's always some night club shenanigans that goes on there, like cash only bars, but they do have plenty of ATMs and plenty of bathrooms which is a plus. I would've given this place a better rating if it wasn't so dark in there. I could barely see where I was walking at times. Also, I had to take off my belt before going in. They should state what kind of attire & accessories aren't allowed in the venue on their site. I wouldn't have worn my chain belt if I knew that it'd be considered a weapon. They should state that on their website. My friend thinks that security was messing with me. I saw one lady with a wimi belt on but her belt was a lot smaller than mine was. Hopefully that wasn't the case. If they were actually trying to eff with me, then hopefully they'll get found out & fired as that's fucked up & they shouldn't be allowed to do that as that's harassment. The guy working security said that it's considered a weapon & that it needed to get taken off for the security of the bands. I had to stuff it in my purse. Thankfully it fit in there, but barely. He was a bit rude & I think that he might've charged me for two beers when I was distracted looking for my wallet. I ordered two beers but he said I only got one as they didn't have the beer I wanted available. So then I had to pay for another one. He was like, no, you have to pay for that. Whatever asshole, lol. Just tell me that but don't grab the beer & act like I'm trying to steal it, lol. His tone was rude & he gave me a mean look. It was a misunderstanding, so chill the eff out, ugh. I didn't tip him the second time of course, lol. Like I'm really going to just walk off & not pay for something, especially with all these security guys & cameras all over the place? lol. So pay attention people. The other bartenders were OK. There are three or four bars inside there & a small cafe that sells food & beer in the corner outside. My friend & I saw two of my favorite bands there last night, Dope & Static-X. They put on a great show. Unfortunately Static-X took over an hour to come on stage. So we missed part of the show as we had to catch a train back home close to 11p.m. The venue is not to small & not to big which is good. My friends and I went to the Midway to see Madeon and I was so impressed with how clean everything was, especially the bathrooms. Usually for concert venues, I don't expect too much because I know there's a lot of people dancing/drinking and the floors are usually always sticky, littered with trash by the end of the night. That wasn't the case here, which I was so grateful for! The bathrooms had many stalls and sinks and to my pleasant surprise, the floor was also completely spotless! There was also a cute outdoor dining area for Madam Zola's Fortune, a cafe available at the Midway, with fairy lights strung everywhere where my group took our pictures and get some fresh air before dancing the night away. Such a dreadful experience at this venue. The first fault is that this concert was postponed and i did not recieve notice of this until the DAY AFTER the concert was set to take place. Then when the rescheduled date finally came Summer did not sing one single song. I wasted my time at this venue TWICE due to poor management. The Midway causally advertised a summer walker concert and had people waiting for 4 hours with no communication of Summer Walker's stage presence or lack there of. Instead we were bamboozled to hear DJs spin for 4 hours who were nowhere listed on the advertisements as the primary acts of the night. I would like a refund IMMEDIATLEY! `Tread with caution when seeing an artist at this venue. Their practices are shady and unethical. As someone else mentioned the venue went and deleted their Summer Walker concert post from their IG due to backlash. Are you a lawyer? Would like to start a lawsuit. Zero stars if I could. Last night was my first time at the midway. A group of 8 of us paid $80 each to see Slander. We get in, only to see the bathroom line wrapped around the whole venue. Tried to get a drink while we waited. Cash only. Shortly after, we found out my friend got kicked out for "jumping the fence". He was mistaken for someone else that jumped the fence. I tried to reason with security to let them know they got the wrong person and that we all have tickets and paid to be here. They were extremely disrespectful and dismissive. I understand that security needs to keep people safe. In this case, they didn't do their jobs properly. I tried to speak to a few different people to let them know they got the wrong person, but they all just rudely said to go inside and enjoy my time. How could I do that if my friend got kicked out for no reason? What would you have done in this situation? This isn't even the worst part. As we were leaving, because there was no reason to stay at this point, the "manager" put his hand on me to shoo me out and I fell. I literally have a sprained ankle from falling, due to the manager putting his hand on me- my ankle stayed put but my body fell backward. We paid concert prices for something that ended up being a shitty club...literally the dj was not even good I'm sorry. Just enjoyed the first Passport event of his year- Mexico. Wonderful evening- caring attentive staff, delicious food and excellent drinks. Always meet fun and interesting people.
