I realized that I never gave an update on the situation--that's my bad! The team at The Melt was very apologetic and handled the situation very well in my opinion. They indeed provided a refund and credit for an extra meal as compensation. I appreciate the team for taking the time to do that, it shows that they care. I still frequent The Melt and my experiences have been great. They have some of my favorite burgers in the Bay Area. Excellent food and service!

Chicken parm melt and herb fries

I know this is a chain restaurant, but I had never heard of it before a recent trip to San Francisco. I was really pleasantly surprised. It's a burger and other sandwich shop that seems to have a specialty with melted cheese sandwiches. I had the chicken parm sandwich and the herb fries and I was happy. I wasn't intending to eat the whole parm sandwich, but it was that good. A cut above other fast food burger joints.

I was in town for the San Francisco Marathon and came here twice for burgers. I used to exclusively eat at Super Duper whenever I was in SF. However, for my most recent trip, I came here to check out their burgers. Both times, I placed my order while using one of their ordering kiosks and assigned a pager to my order. I had their Double Meltburger for dinner before the race and their Double Spicy Mission Meltburger after the race. The spicy mission was my favorite out of the 2 burgers that I had. Both The Melt and Super Duper uses different quality ingredients. However, I think The Melt has the edge on size and their cheese. Their burgers were much more substantial than Super Duper's. As for presentation, I would say that Super Duper does it better. Definitely, your mileage will vary as taste is quite subjective. I would have no problem going to either place. Service here was quick. Their to-go container and paper bag were very sturdy. Good thing as their burgers were deliciously messy! Don't forget the napkins!

$6.99 Original Chicken Melt {11/2019}

I've been to different The Melt locations for many years and also use the app to earn reward points. This time, I received an email promotion for a free Three Cheese Classic with any $5 purchase (up to $8.49 value), which can be applied to other Melted Classics. There were two self-order kiosks, but I waited at the counter since I needed help redeeming the Melt rewards and would need to upload my receipt after the purchase to earn points. All the employees were in the open kitchen area, and when I asked, one employee told me to either wait or use the kiosk. I explained I had Melt rewards to redeem, so I stayed at the counter. I ordered French fries ($3.99) thin-cut russets with Melt seasoning salt and redeemed my offer for the Steak & Cheese (Angus sirloin, provolone, cheese sauce, grilled onions, red peppers, and jalapeños on an artisan bun, regular price $12.99). The steak was shredded and mixed with melted cheese, and the fries with seasoning were something a little different from what I usually have. Since I've been coming to The Melt for years, I would come back again if I'm nearby and want to earn points on the app.

MELTBURGER

The MELTBURGER was big and yummy. It was around $10 something and I didn't have room for a side since I was full from the burger already. I would've prefer if they have a smaller size at a cheaper price since I don't want to be too full for lunch. I would come back to try the Philly sandwich next time.

Love this place! There area lot of nicer burger places in the city, but the variety here is through the roof. I've had the chicken Parm sandwich and mission double melt burger so far and neither has disappointed. For the price there are so many solid comfort food options. The crunchy, cheesy, savory sandwiches and burgers are just the best. Ordering food is very smooth on the screens, and the buzzers are convenient to use. There are a variety of seating options as well. And of course I love that it is open so late but not crowded, so it's nice to grab takeout or sitting down. I'll be coming back for sure.

Stopped by craving something cheesy as a snack and got a side of mini mac to go. It absolutely satisfied my cravings, loved how much melty cheese there was and the pasta was cooked well - not too mushy. I'll have to be back to try the chicken parm grilled cheese!

Great Food, would come back again! Service was also quick, under 10 minutes. Had a very chill vibe too, perfect for a quick meal.

Fast casual restaurant with excellent value. The burger was huge and the sandwich we ordered was also quite a sizable one. They were both absolutely delicious. The sweet potato fries are a must. The people working there were very nice.

It was my first time trying their double meltburger, and it was really delicious! The beef patties were juicy and huge, I couldn't even finish them in one sitting, and ended up splitting them into three meals lol. Highly recommended!

I came on a Sunday around noon. Restaurant was about 30% full. Ordered the new chicken Parmesan melt at the kiosk. Within 7 minutes my buzzer went off. Sandwich was filling. Bread wasn't soggy from the sauce and the chicken was thick and moist. Comes with 1 pickle spear.

The Melt is famous for melted cheddar cheese. I'm lactose intolerant. So, my burger was no cheese. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. That thing was hot. It burned my lips. Ouch. I think it was thigh meat because I had to pull the meat with my teeth, not biting it. They got good WiFi and clean restroom. I found electric outlets on the side of the tall table. This table vibrates as it was connected to the air conditioner above the dining room. No, that's not earthquake. I was there yesterday prior to walk in the San Francisco Chinese New Year parade. Our meeting area was in front of The Melt.

The Melt has a sign that says "highest rated burger joint" which is a bold statement, and I have to say I think it's well deserved. I came here not once but twice in the past couple weeks, once for national cheeseburger day, and once today because I woke up craving the cheeseburger I had last week. I ordered the exact same thing and the burger came out tasting exactly the same way, and that's extra points for consistency. Big fan of the spicy sauce option with chopped jalepenos. Literally salivating right now thinking about it, maybe it's time for a third trip

Used to come here all the time, but after moving away from the area, I hadn't been back in a while…read more Eating here again reminded me exactly why this spot has been around for almost two decades the food is just that good. Everything we ordered did not disappoint: Fried Chicken: Crispy, golden, and classic. The meat itself is mild, but it works well with the sides, the punchy, savory collard greens balance out every bite. Creole Crawfish Étouffée: Rich, deeply flavorful, and comforting. Fried Pickles: Crispy, tangy, and great on their own, but pro tip: put a fried pickle right on your spoonful of étouffée. The crunchy, vinegary pop against that rich crawfish sauce is incredible. Pork: Perfectly seasoned with the perfect tenderness with just the right amount of satisfying bite and chewiness. Dr. Pepper Simmered Short Ribs (Daily Special): Boneless, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and beautifully balanced with sweet and savory notes. Side Note: The chicken, pork, and short ribs all came with mashed potatoes, and the way they season those potatoes managed to complement each distinct main dish perfectly. Honestly, not a single miss on the table. Highly recommended!

Writing a review like this is difficult for several reasons, and I very rarely leave negative…read morereviews. As someone who has works in the restaurant industry, I understand firsthand how challenging this business can be, and I have a tremendous amount of respect for the people who work hard to make a dining experience memorable. That's why I don't say this lightly when I say that our food experience tonight was extremely disappointing. We ordered the pork chop, which was okay, but the cabbage side was honestly hard to eat. I'm not sure if it was intended to be slaw or steamed cabbage, but it was essentially wet cabbage with very little flavor. The potatoes were decent, although the portion was quite small and they had a texture that tasted almost like boxed mashed potatoes. The biscuits were extremely dry and hard, and unfortunately, the butter served alongside them wasn't very good either. The spinach that came with the special was, without exaggeration, one of the worst parts of the meal. It had a very unpleasant taste that made us question whether something was off with it. There really wasn't another way to describe it. For a $44 plate, I expect the steak to be cooked properly, the sides to be flavorful and thoughtfully prepared, and the entire dish to feel worth the price. We also ordered a peach soda that was $10, which already feels very expensive for a soft drink. What was even more surprising was finding out that refills were not complimentary. That's something I feel should be clearly communicated when ordering. This is supposed to be soul food, a style of cooking known for bold, comforting, flavorful food. Unfortunately, our meal just didn't deliver that. Everyone at our table left feeling unsatisfied. We spent $163 for three entrées, three drinks, and two orders of biscuits. When you spend that kind of money and the food is exceptional, you leave feeling like it was money well spent. When the experience falls this far short, it's understandably frustrating and leaves you questioning the value. I do want to give credit where it's due: our server was wonderful. We had absolutely no complaints about the service. He was attentive, pleasant, and did her job well. I genuinely hope this feedback is received in the spirit it's intended. I know how difficult the restaurant business is, and I'm not looking to tear anyone down. I simply believe that when a meal costs this much, the quality, flavor, portions, and overall execution should reflect the price.

Started off with their ceviche with local halibut in a tom kha, a spicy and citrus-y sauce. The nori rice cracker was tasty by itself but its crevices weren't the most conducive to holding the fish pieces. The uni amaebi donburi was packed with fresh ikura, uni, and shrimp. I felt that the Korean seaweed wasn't the most appropriate since its inherent salt kinda overpowered the fresh umaminess of the seafood. The shoji burger came with a well-seasoned patty and American cheese, but is served with a 3 cheese fondue skillet. It was tasty because of the gooey cheese. Even with the most coordination and dexterity, it was logistically challenging to eat the burger (especially since they do not serve it with knives) as well as the ceviche/donburi, so I would recommend reconsidering if you're planning a first date or need to impress parents/bosses. For drinks, the kabosu was strong with tequila with a hint of lemongrass and citrus flavors. The noguchii was perfect for those who like smokey drinks! Its strong and intense with a woody smoke every sip. Staff were polite and on top of your social media needs. In addition to the indoor bar/table area, there is a covered outdoor patio with heat lamps and blankets. Would come back for the drinks, probs not again for the food but worth trying!
