We have tried this nursery twice. The first time was last year, and it was not bad. It's small,…read morebut pleasant, and usually has a decent amount of variety to choose from. Customer service is terrible. This summer we decided to start landscaping and beautifying our property. We had a large budget, and were willing to shop local and support our community, knowing we would probably pay a little more. When we arrived we spoke to a man we assume to be the owner. We had taken a picture of the area we wanted to revamp, and showed him the picture, giving him wide latitude to make suggestions. We gave him some ideas of what we liked. He proceeded to fumble through the nursery, having no real ideas or suggestions. After much prompting, we finally came up with a plant idea. He said he had some in back. After a long pause, my wife suggested we see the plants. He said "no, they're way back there." Apparently not willing to make the 50 yard trek to these plants. He came up with a few alternatives, which we agreed sounded nice. He then informed us he didn't carry them. We asked if we could pay ahead and order the plants, he simply suggested we come back in a few weeks and see if he had them in stock. This guy could not have been less interested in selling us anything in his nursery, and lost out of a big sale because of it. Simply lazy and disinterested would be the best way to describe him. If he doesn't care, neither do we. We went to another local nursery in Auburn and spent our money there. They took one look at the pictures and came up with hundreds of ideas for us to choose from, and could not have been more helpful. I will not return to this nursery, it's people like this that make it impossible to shop local. A huge disappointment.

We needed some material to fill parts of our backyard. So we went to check out Acer Landscape…read moreMaterials, in Shingle Springs, CA. They are about 10 miles from Folsom. I recall having been there years before. Its been awhile. The whole place has a rural feel, the entire lot is small and has no paved parking lot. It's all gravel. They don't have a dedicated parking lot, find a spot that doesn't block the flow of traffic. They do have designated handicap spots. Or you can park next door at the El Dorado Nursery and walk over using their secret gate. Ok it's not a secret just ask the staff, they will be happy to guide you. But gotta say that the nursery parking lot is also gravel and not particularly large. It is not a long walk, they are right next to each other separated by a fence. The trailer office at Acer's has samples of the materials lined up on a shelf. Great. That way you don't have roam their lot in the heat. You can if you want to though. Also inside the office are large wall boards with the pricing. They got stonewalls, geowalls, cinderblocks, Italian pavers, estate walls, fire pits, techno soil (don't know what that is but they have 16 varieties), flagstone (over 20)... rock in decorative colors, types, and sizes... bark also in different types, colors, sizes., The staff here are super helpful, friendly, and professional. They have some characters that made me laugh and others that are more business like but not at all unfriendly. We ended up ordering materials and setting up a delivery time and paying the fee. The pricing was cheaper than another material shop located in Rancho Cordova, CA. Acer was even able to deliver the next day on a Sunday. Wow... Sunday, that's rare. But we scheduled it for a weekday instead. We were given a 2 hour delivery timeframe. The driver called within 15-20 minutes before they got to the house. He dumped the materials in front as instructed. Great.

While traveling on I80 rock flew out of the truck hit and broke my windshield. I called to discuss the matter with him and he insisted it wasn't his problem, he didn't care that his truck and employees were not following regulations and urged me to take him to court. I was just trying to ask him to pay the $50 deductible for replacement to make it right, now we can handle it in small claims.

Nimbus has excellent customer service, good products, and skilled drivers. Cute and chill, but the cat situation was a bit much…read more---------------- The Harris Family Farm was cute! My husband and I went on a Friday, the day before their Lavender Days event. We tried the lavender lemonade slushy and it was super refreshing. We were the only ones there, and pulling up was a little confusing since it looks very home-y, and we weren't totally sure where things were happening. They had a nice little selection of goodies for sale, and overall the vibe was really chill. However... there was a cat hanging around that became a bit of a deal-breaker. It climbed right up on the table where the utensils, napkins, and bagged chips were -- literally sat on the chip bags like it owned the place. Clearly not its first time doing that. who wants cat booty on their food? I'm all for farm animals and pets, but I don't think they should be around areas where food is being handled or served -- especially where straws and napkins are kept. Then our drink came out with a straw already in it, and while it was brought from the kitchen, it made me wonder if the cat's allowed back there too. They also mentioned a flower garden we could check out, which we did but it took only a few minutes, and then we headed out. Overall, it's a relaxing little spot, but not much to do, and the food hygiene situation needs some serious work. I definitely don't want cat butt near my snacks.
