    Maxwell House was perfect for our budget mindful DIY wedding. It allowed us the flexibility we needed to pull off our dream wedding. Reid Lee, the director of operations and events is the most fabulous and supportive venue contact you could want. Maxwell House only does one event per weekend so you have the option to do a 4 hour set-up and rehearsal the Friday before. They give you the freedom to bring in and choose whichever vendors you like, and we had the option to do our own bar! Aside from the freedom, flexibility and affordability of Maxwell House, the venue is GORGEOUS! When we first walked in the foyer, the floor to ceiling west windows and dramatic staircase took my breath away. Its stand alone beauty will save you a lot of money, energy and time as the space simply doesn't need a lot added. It's a vintage stunner. And Maxwell House offers outdoor + indoor space on one property. They also offer free parking in a lot across the street. The grounds surrounding the venue are lush, serene and amazing - offering many photo op spots! If you want to have all your guests seated for dinner in one room, I would recommend having 75 people or fewer. We had about 90 and it was tight. Maxwell House provides tables and chairs for dinner seating and ceremony seating, too. They set it up in time for your rehearsal! There's a noise curfew for amplified sound outside, and they have a built in dance floor inside, so it's definitely in your favor to do a DJ/band/sound indoors, if that is something you want. If you have vendors and rentals that cannot be picked up the day/night of the ceremony, they will have the option to pick up their items as late as the Monday following the event. However, if you do your own decor, props, etc, you have to have it out by 11PM the night of your event. This was the only downside of our wedding... I wish we could have afforded to pay for someone to load out for us. But I'm a theatre person, so it felt just like Fringe and actually gave me a chance to talk with and spend more one on one time with people more while we were cleaning up. Overall, we LOVED Maxwell House and highly, highly recommend it! Even though we were in this mansion we could never afford to live in, it felt like being home and celebrating with our most favorite people. It was classic, elegant but somehow cozy, too. 11.9.19 will forever be one of my most favorite days with so many favorite memories largely due to Maxwell House and the array of possibilities it gave us. Thank you Maxwell House and Reid - we have so much love and gratitude for you!!

    March 23, 2014 Gorgeous venue in Pasadena! It's located five minutes away from Old Town Pasadena. Perfect for engagement, wedding, and showers. Maxwell is just simply a gorgeous house. There are two floors and the top floor has a huge glass door where you can take amazing photos at/from. I attended my cousin's best friends wedding and I can not imagine an even more radiant bride and her adoring groom. The place is small, but very cozy. Being here makes you feel like you are excluded from the outside world, like you were in a fairytale story. Very quiet and serene.

    Hung out here for a family wedding. It is a quaint older (former) courthouse in Pasadena. The staff did a lovely job laying out the garden area for the ceremony, and the main halls proved big enough for the seating area and buffets. The front room served as a location for the bar and photo booth...so there seemed to be just enough space to accommodate a roughly 130 person wedding. - It was hot in there though because the old building did not have central air, and with 130+ people that's a lot of body heat. - The main foyer had to serve as a point of ingress and egress yet it also pulled double duty as the DJ setup and dance floor...so that may have led to more heat staying in the main areas. - The food service was good, and well executed. It seemed to be a good time had by all. Congrats to Sydney and Griff! ENJOY

    Wow, talk about a gorgeous wedding venue, with an amazingly helpful and kind staff to match. We love the Maxwell House and Reid is a champ at being responsive, thorough, and making sure your special day really ends up being the best day of your life! My wife and I had been shopping around for wedding venues for about six months. We didn't really have a budget in mind so were open to anything. What we really loved about the Maxwell House is that it had the backyard wedding feel we wanted, but most of all you can choose whoever you want to be your wedding vendors (so long as they're properly licensed and such). THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT! For you grooms out there, or anyone who doesn't really know how wedding spaces work, it's rare to find places that let you choose your own vendor. What a novel concept! Anyways we visited a few open houses and were set on the Maxwell House. When we requested a quote for pricing, I couldn't believe how affordable it was. Now, I understand that this is relative to your wedding budget, but I'll tell you if your trying to have a 80-100 person wedding in a beautiful location, this place is such a deal. LA's hidden wedding venue gem. Anyways, we picked a date and put in our deposit. They have a very easy payment portal so you don't have to send a check or anything inconvenient like that. Also, the staff is amazing! Especially Reid! I think I'd call him 3-4 times a month leading up to our wedding, making sure everything worked, floorpan questions, etc... Anyways he never made me feel like I was being a burden. Also the day before when we were setting up, Reid went above and beyond to make some arrangements that made our wedding so much more beautiful! Highly recommend the Maxwell House and everything about it. Also Pasadena is gorgeous!

    This house is so open! Perfect for an outdoor weeding. They include 3 types of chairs, tables, speakers, coordinator and so many other amenities. It's very elegant and it has a great vibe

    The Maxwell House was the perfect location for our wedding. Incredibly affordable for all the that they supply, and in an amazingly beautiful area in Pasadena. The event coordinator, Reid, was always so quick to respond to any email I sent and helped us in any way possible. The space inside and outside the venue is so unique for a wedding, which gave our guests the ability to go from one room to another and mingle and socialize. All rooms are filled with beautiful antique furniture, and the venue provides all the folding tables and chairs you would need. The history of the building is also interesting, and the fact that the proceeds went to a non-profit made us feel good as well. All our guests were amazed by the space and surprised by how inexpensive it all was. I would recommend The Maxwell House for any event in a heartbeat!

    Wonderful wedding reception location! We had our wedding reception at the Maxwell House this past July. The staff was really nice and easy to work with, they give you a print out of all the rules making it easy to know the do's & dont's. We got our deposit back no problem by the time we got back from our honeymoon. We wanted a chill non-traditional location and Maxwell House was perfect! My husband & I are both Catholic nerds, we wanted a fun reception so we used the largest room for dining, the library as an origami flower prayer bouquet making room, and the room with the massive dining room table as the board game room which was the main attraction! This venue can be customized to do what you want ever you want to do! You will need to DIY, but that's what makes it cool! We were so happy to find this location our, reception was great fun.

We had about 80 people (including kids) at the event, and though it felt tight, at least the kids were able to hang outside to enjoy the bouncer. I rented the afternoon time frame, so we were given the venue from 2:30-9PM. The only thing that I found weird was that there was absolutely no attendant available at the end of the night. Overall, a decent place to rent a venue if you wanna DIY things yourself.

The egg heart canape was delicious, but the cheese in the grilled cheese tasted super rubbery. I also had the Lychee Oolong which I thought was too floral. I thought both desserts were really good. Usually at high tea places, they just put out some store-bought petit fours and macarons, but they actually had what tasted like house-made cakes. When I called and/or texted Natalia, she responded right away. She and the entire team were just hands on and extremely helpful. The facility was so clean , the 5 restrooms, bar area and full kitchen were ready to use. Renting the tables, chairs and linens directly from them was stress free and so convenient. We held my Mothers repass here and it was the perfect space to gather with my family and friends. Once the reception was over and all my guest had left the venue we did clean up. However, Natalia told us that wasn't necessary to do because their staff would come in to put everything back in order for their next event. And, let me tell you she did just that. I had a few items that I had to retrieve the following morning and upon my arrival the staff was already there and they had it literally refreshed and SPOTLESS!!! I would highly suggest and recommend everyone to host any of their special events here. Allow them do what they do best, which is ensuring you and your guests have a GOOD TIME !!! Geese walk freely around the gardens, and colorful parrots fly overhead, adding even more charm to the atmosphere. In April, the garden looks especially stunning -- the pergola and trees are in full bloom (I wish I remembered the names of those gorgeous flowers!), and the whole place feels alive and magical. Honestly, this garden is beautiful in any season of the year. You can come here with dogs, which is a big plus, but it's important to respect the property rules: pets must be on a leash, owners are responsible for cleanup, professional photography requires a permit, and activities like skateboarding, drinking alcohol, or organized sports events are not allowed. These rules help preserve the calm and cleanliness of the space. There is also a secondary school located on the property, which adds to the unique character of the place. Parking-wise, we were able to find free street parking nearby without any issues. This is a perfect spot to slow down, enjoy nature, and escape the city noise for a while. Highly recommended for a peaceful walk or a quiet moment surrounded by beauty.

Sunday, it's $12. For other events, they post the cost on their website. Location/Parking: Located across from the Arlington Gardens (Free). It's kinda hidden, but just use the gps on your phone to guide you. Parking can be found along Arlington. For special events, they encourage you to park at Westridge School (Orange Grove and W. State St.) and walk up to Storrier Stearns. Ambiance/Decor: The Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden is a beautiful and charming retreat with a quiet and tranquil elegance. The place is small which contains many of the much admired design features found in the most lavish of Japanese-style gardens of its era. As Kendall Brown states in his book, California Japanese-style Gardens, "this is the genius of Kinzuchi Fujii: this was once a flat area of two tennis courts; now it is a masterwork. 1) Classic Niko-an Teahouse, the garden landscape offers a variety of other beautiful details. 2) Numerous gathering points, seating areas & vistas 3) Four original bridges plus the original cedar log Japanese Waiting Bench 4) Two large interconnected, irregularly shaped koi ponds 5) The sounds of two waterfalls, one cascading down a 25-foot hill 6) An artful dry riverbed for rain overflow winding through the garden 7) Cooling shade everywhere from spreading sycamores & old oaks 8) Many tons of boulders & stones 9) Granite statuary & stone lanterns Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden For Thought: Wouldn't mind coming back to re-center myself. I went in person last weekend, and it was closed despite their online hours posted. The lack of clarity even upon walking up to the venue is not clear. They have no signs stating they are closed and it's clear they do not care to return voicemails. Please do not waste your time going there.

The staff who helped us throughout the entire night was funny, friendly, professional and so accommodating! Although they joked with us throughout the evening, they never broke their work ethics and gave us the most excellent service! Normally we decorate the venue with our own things but Rococo Room did almost everything for us! The venue itself is already beautiful and fit our theme really well, but they made sure we got special table clothes, center pieces, candles, etc. They had their own DJ and was so good too! Now the food. I'm a vegetarian, and some of my co-workers are vegan. You'd think this would be tough...NOPE! Not for Rococo Room! Most people had an amazing meal (which I can't vouch for but I heard from EVERYONE that it was so good!) And they gave us one amazing vegan dish! I almost thought it was too good to be vegan. The dessert was some chocolate thing (also heard from everyone that it was amazing) but we got a bowl of berries covered in sauce. Let me just tell you that although it sounds iffy, it was probably the most delicious bowl of berries I've had! Not a single berry was tart. Not one! I asked my other vegan co-workers if they got any tart ones, none Did! They also agreed that was an extremely delicious bowl of berries! I can't say enough about this place. Thank you, Matthew for making this event such a memorable one! I cannot wait to come back for a non-event meal!

We definitely plan on returning, hopefully next year around the same time. We were a group of 37 employees. We used an entire floor, as well as plenty of breakout rooms for group or individual meetings. The kitchen space worked well, we ate a lot of meals there.     I do feel that I have been given five star member support, five star amenities and a five star…read morequality experience. I love my office on the eighth floor! The bathrooms, the co workspace and the kitchen are always clean. I've had minimal user error with the free printer that is provided and I enjoy being able to look out and see Pasadena City Hall from afar. Furthermore, the staff have been supportive, energetic and happy to help me whenever I have questions. For that matter Jeremy is THE MAN! Always helpful and always able to solve my issues. I'm very thankful that I decided to move away from working at home and start work at FoundrSpace. Because I really need home to be home and a place to work to feel more like work than a room in my home. I don't think that people have figured that out yet, but I know they will soon and I hope they find this review and find their new work office at FoundrSpace. Anyway, I plan to be here for quite some time, and I look forward to new neighbors that are focused on their businesses and ventures. I just wanted to let others know that this is the place for me and I know it's going to be a great place for more entrepreneurs, start ups and businesses too.
