Maxwell House was the third venue we toured. And we instantly fell in love with the venue. Actually, my husband was the one who loved it first. But I'm glad we chose Maxwell House to host our reception. We got married this year on February 16, 2019. I know my review is way over due but I wanted to save the best for last. :) The event coordinator, Reid, was very responsive and professional and easy to work with. He was amazing and always there to answer any questions or concerns we have. And trust me we had a lot of concerns. But in the end, it all worked out and we could have not picked a better venue to celebrate the happiest day of our lives. It was raining all week until Friday night, the night before our wedding. Thankfully that week, we went to see Reid and he came to our rescue and helped ease our worries ... He helped us with developing a new seating plan which we called PLAN D. We opted to put everyone inside the venue instead of some outside. And ended up putting the buffet and the bar outside. But low and behold, on the day of our wedding, the sun was out and it was a beautiful day. We had a beautiful venue that made our special day perfect. Furthermore, we couldn't believe how affordable it was. The price included everything you need for a wedding (tables, chairs, cake stand, speakers, etc) and its all for a set price. So we did not have to spend too much on renting tables and chairs. In addition, all the proceeds goes to a non-profit organization which I thought was extraordinary. Good to know the money is going to a good cause. And you can bring your own vendors and alcohol. FANTASTIC! This was a huge help and saved us a lot of money. Granted, they must be liscensed and such of course. But it was still affordable. Also, they only book one wedding a weekend which was unbelievable and a huge lifesaver because we had a 4 hour window on Friday to decorate and setup. My husband and I are so grateful to the staff of the Maxwell House. We are upon celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary and looking back at our experience at the Maxwell House. Like so many couples, our 2020 wedding plans had to change. Luckily the Maxwell House team was with us every step of the way, giving us plenty of alternative options and answering our questions! We ended up doing a small boutique wedding with a brunch reception, and Rae was so helpful and patient with us through the planning process. Her recommendations for the floor plan and wedding timeline were phenomenal, and on our wedding day, her team made everything seamless for our vendors and guests. Maxwell House was perfect for our budget mindful DIY wedding. It allowed us the flexibility we needed to pull off our dream wedding. Reid Lee, the director of operations and events is the most fabulous and supportive venue contact you could want. Maxwell House only does one event per weekend so you have the option to do a 4 hour set-up and rehearsal the Friday before. They give you the freedom to bring in and choose whichever vendors you like, and we had the option to do our own bar! Aside from the freedom, flexibility and affordability of Maxwell House, the venue is GORGEOUS! When we first walked in the foyer, the floor to ceiling west windows and dramatic staircase took my breath away. Its stand alone beauty will save you a lot of money, energy and time as the space simply doesn't need a lot added. It's a vintage stunner. And Maxwell House offers outdoor + indoor space on one property. They also offer free parking in a lot across the street. The grounds surrounding the venue are lush, serene and amazing - offering many photo op spots! If you want to have all your guests seated for dinner in one room, I would recommend having 75 people or fewer. We had about 90 and it was tight. Maxwell House provides tables and chairs for dinner seating and ceremony seating, too. They set it up in time for your rehearsal! There's a noise curfew for amplified sound outside, and they have a built in dance floor inside, so it's definitely in your favor to do a DJ/band/sound indoors, if that is something you want. If you have vendors and rentals that cannot be picked up the day/night of the ceremony, they will have the option to pick up their items as late as the Monday following the event. However, if you do your own decor, props, etc, you have to have it out by 11PM the night of your event. This was the only downside of our wedding... I wish we could have afforded to pay for someone to load out for us. But I'm a theatre person, so it felt just like Fringe and actually gave me a chance to talk with and spend more one on one time with people more while we were cleaning up. Overall, we LOVED Maxwell House and highly, highly recommend it! Even though we were in this mansion we could never afford to live in, it felt like being home and celebrating with our most favorite people. It was classic, elegant but somehow cozy, too. 11.9.19 will forever be one of my most favorite days with so many favorite memories largely due to Maxwell House and the array of possibilities it gave us. Maxwell House was such a beautiful, intimate venue for our elopement. The balcony, stairwell, and foyer made a stunning backdrop for our wedding photos. Rae was very helpful in answering our questions and made fantastic recommendations on how to set up our floor plan, based off of other weddings that had taken place in Maxwell. She also gave great advice on the actual day-of proceedings and best photo spots, all of which we would have missed without her help. If you're looking for a wedding venue for about 120 people, The Maxwell House is a good option! There are multiple parts to the house that you can use and it's versatile! You can have your ceremony/reception indoors or outdoors, it's up to what your vision is! There's even space for a small dance floor and DJ set-up. I had my ceremony here since it's close to home. Initially, I wanted an outdoor ceremony but it was literally one of the hottest days in the summer. Even I couldn't stand being outdoors for too long. Reid and team were super accommodating and suggested that we move it indoors with AC. Unfortunately, the last minute change meant there was no staff to help, so my family and I moved 120 chairs indoors. It was so hot that my hands burned from carrying the chairs indoors. We were a bit behind schedule on setting up since we had to move the chairs, but Reid and his team were very patient and let us stay a little longer to wrap up. The awesome part was that we get to come back the next day, after the wedding, to take down the arch. My reception was in Anaheim, and there was no way I could've took everything down in time. We're super grateful of how smoothly everything went and how accommodating the team was! The whole booking process and payment system was super easy and smooth. March 23, 2014 Gorgeous venue in Pasadena! It's located five minutes away from Old Town Pasadena. Perfect for engagement, wedding, and showers. Maxwell is just simply a gorgeous house. There are two floors and the top floor has a huge glass door where you can take amazing photos at/from. I attended my cousin's best friends wedding and I can not imagine an even more radiant bride and her adoring groom. The place is small, but very cozy. Hung out here for a family wedding. It is a quaint older (former) courthouse in Pasadena. The staff did a lovely job laying out the garden area for the ceremony, and the main halls proved big enough for the seating area and buffets. The front room served as a location for the bar and photo booth...so there seemed to be just enough space to accommodate a roughly 130 person wedding. - It was hot in there though because the old building did not have central air, and with 130+ people that's a lot of body heat. - The main foyer had to serve as a point of ingress and egress yet it also pulled double duty as the DJ setup and dance floor...so that may have led to more heat staying in the main areas. - The food service was good, and well executed. The Maxwell House was the only venue I toured after months of online research. Instantly, I knew I wanted to get married there. I loved having the ability to hire my own vendors because we were doing an interfaith/multicultural ceremony and had some specific requirements for food, etc. I was really worried about finding an event space that could accommodate all our logistical and personal wants and needs. The space is stunning! We had our ceremony outside and it had a garden/backyard feel to it, as well as an elegant Los Angeles-in-the-30's look. Inside, you really don't need any additional décor besides some floral arrangements since the art is so stunning. My only concern was that it was a little dim and we were getting married in November. I met with their preferred lighting vendor, GoGo Sprockets, and we created a false ceiling in the foyer with lanterns strung from the balcony, which was so gorgeous. Also, our photographer, Michael Farmer, specializes in low lighting photography and our pictures turned out great. On a personal note, I was really happy to have my wedding here because of it's mission. My best friends/bridesmaids are queer women. My family is Korean and Irish Catholic and my husband's family is Pakistani and Muslim. Getting married in a beautiful, welcome space was a must for us. Lastly, Reid is the best! My husband took over wedding planning and definitely needed help. Reid's professionalism and guidance saved us a ton of stress, especially since we were struggling towards the end. The entire team at Maxwell House was so friendly and accommodating despite a few last minute changes on our end. Let me just say, I did not have any regrets when I choose The Maxwell House as my venue. We searched and searched and everyone was out of our budget and did not offer outside vendors. They also stand for something great. In the times that we are in, everyone deserves to have a safe place to be wed. I have family who identify as LGBTQ. To know that there are people putting themselves out there to help is just amazing. The organization themselves go out to the local schools and fight to help stop bulling, racism, and prejudices. When Reid took us through the tour, their story touched our hearts. We knew we had found the one. Reid helped us with all of our questions and concerns. He is amazing! Their preferred vendors list ranges from $ to $$$, but all of them were such a pleasure to work with( and will usually offer a small discount when you mention the venue). From our first look at pictures of this venue, we fell in love. The architecture and the history of this venue stand out compared to other venues we looked at, and the chance to support a non-profit with our wedding was an extra bonus. All the staff that helped us with everything from planning to the day of were wonderful and really helped the day go perfectly. Wow, talk about a gorgeous wedding venue, with an amazingly helpful and kind staff to match. We love the Maxwell House and Reid is a champ at being responsive, thorough, and making sure your special day really ends up being the best day of your life! My wife and I had been shopping around for wedding venues for about six months. We didn't really have a budget in mind so were open to anything. What we really loved about the Maxwell House is that it had the backyard wedding feel we wanted, but most of all you can choose whoever you want to be your wedding vendors (so long as they're properly licensed and such). THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT! For you grooms out there, or anyone who doesn't really know how wedding spaces work, it's rare to find places that let you choose your own vendor. What a novel concept! Anyways we visited a few open houses and were set on the Maxwell House. When we requested a quote for pricing, I couldn't believe how affordable it was. Now, I understand that this is relative to your wedding budget, but I'll tell you if your trying to have a 80-100 person wedding in a beautiful location, this place is such a deal. LA's hidden wedding venue gem. Anyways, we picked a date and put in our deposit. They have a very easy payment portal so you don't have to send a check or anything inconvenient like that. Also, the staff is amazing! Especially Reid! I think I'd call him 3-4 times a month leading up to our wedding, making sure everything worked, floorpan questions, etc... Maxwell House is located on Grand Ave in Pasadena. This is a historic and beautiful area and also conveniently located near the Colorado Bridge. The venue is lovely & spacious; it features a backyard/patio, many rooms for dining and entertaining and they also provide chairs and tables. It easily accommodated our wedding of 78 people + vendors. Reid and his team are amazing!! They were soooo helpful with setting up the venue and also provided ideas on how comfortably seat our guests. They're also very organized and have worked with many types of events and weddings. Maxwell House allows you to hire an insured caterer and bartender so you're not as restricted by catering requirements that other venue require. I highly recommend this venue. read more

The Maxwell House was the perfect location for our wedding. Incredibly affordable for all the that they supply, and in an amazingly beautiful area in Pasadena. The event coordinator, Reid, was always so quick to respond to any email I sent and helped us in any way possible. The space inside and outside the venue is so unique for a wedding, which gave our guests the ability to go from one room to another and mingle and socialize. All rooms are filled with beautiful antique furniture, and the venue provides all the folding tables and chairs you would need. In this review I will try to explain why I was thoroughly displeased with the Maxwell House, and why my fiancee and I did NOT end up selecting it as the venue for our wedding rehearsal dinner. I hope the information below will help someone. When I first came to look at the building, I thought it was very nice, and the staff was friendly. They took me on a quick tour, and then sat down and answered my questions. For this, I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1. After a few days of deliberating, my fiancee and I decided to move forward with the process, which meant that we would be required to sign a contract to reserve the space. Now, I am a small business owner, and I always read my contracts very carefully. I consider this to be just good business sense. Further, my brother is a business attorney, and I often ask for his help. Both of us agreed that the Maxwell House's contract is one of the WORST contracts we have ever seen. In fact, we actually thought they had sent us the wrong one, it was so bad! I won't go into too much detail, but many of the requirements were totally excessive and inapplicable to us (they were for film/video shoots, not for a dinner), and there were also some pretty glaring omissions about how much things would cost, what exactly we would have access to, etc. I emailed one of the Maxwell House staff members to make sure they had sent us the right contract, but I received no reply for an entire week (!). The next week, I called and spoke with someone on the phone, who said that we did have the right contract, and we could email them any comments/questions. So I emailed them our comments/questions, and again, I didn't hear back for an entire week (!). Finally, two weeks later, I called back again, and asked if they had received my email. They said they did, but they basically told me that it wasn't worth their time to explain anything or put anything in writing, because it would have been "too much work" for them, and there were other people interested in reserving the building who didn't have so many questions. I couldn't believe they said that! Then they said I should just "trust" them. I said, no thanks! Overall, if they can't do me the courtesy of replying to my emails within a week (or even at all), and if they can't address my very reasonable concerns without making me feel like they are doing me a major favor, then how can I trust them with such an important and EXPENSIVE event as my rehearsal dinner? So, if you are the type of person who values good customer service, and who actually reads contracts and thinks they are important, you'll want to stay away from this place. read more

Wonderful wedding reception location! We had our wedding reception at the Maxwell House this past July. The staff was really nice and easy to work with, they give you a print out of all the rules making it easy to know the do's & dont's. We got our deposit back no problem by the time we got back from our honeymoon. We wanted a chill non-traditional location and Maxwell House was perfect! My husband & I are both Catholic nerds, we wanted a fun reception so we used the largest room for dining, the library as an origami flower prayer bouquet making room, and the room with the massive dining room table as the board game room which was the main attraction! This venue can be customized to do what you want ever you want to do! You will need to DIY, but that's what makes it cool! My wedding here in May 2016 was just perfect. The place itself is very elegant so I didn't have to do much decoration here. The only thing you should be aware of is that it can be very dark in the dining room if the weather isn't sunny. You might want to prepare some additional lights (they provide few standing lamps, 4~6 I remember, but we bought 4 more). Other than the lighting problem in the dining room, it was just perfect. We had our wedding at the Maxwell House two weeks ago, and it was amazing! First, the venue itself is stunning. They have a backyard/patio area which is where we had the ceremony. There's a long staircase that leads from the upstairs down to the patio where I did my bridal entrance during the ceremony. The venue allows arch rental and my mom decorated it with flowers. The largest room is used for dining/reception, a library we used for the bar and photo station, and another large room for the buffet. There's a small dance floor in the hallway but for our guest size of 63, that dance floor was never crowded. Second, Reid and his team were amazing to work with! As the wedding date got closer we made multiple calls to Reid to ask questions and bring in our vendors for a site visit, and Reid was always really kind and helpful. During the day of the wedding, the venue representative was helpful in moving chairs and for questions. Third, we loved that this venue is located in beautiful Pasadena! My husband and I live in Pasadena, work in Pasadena, and all of our vendors were from Pasadena so it was just really convenient. Lastly, I loved that we were able to bring in our own vendors. If you want a DIY wedding, the Maxwell House is the right fit for you. My husband did the lighting (he strung lights on the stairwell and bought LED lights for the dining room), my mom and I did all of the flower arrangements, my friend made our bouquets and bouts (thank you Vivian!), we bought all the linen, printed and scatter photos for our photo/scrapbook station, and brought in our own caterer, cake, make up artist, DJ/DoC, and alcohol. The Maxwell House provides tables and chairs but allows the couple to have their own unique wedding with the food and drink they want. If you have a small guest size I would definitely recommend this lovely venue! read more

The venue is STUNNING and was such a pleasure to get married in this past Sunday! Since wedding planning almost guarantees a nervous breakdown, I feel lucky to have found MH. It's a Tuscan inspired mansion, has both outdoor & indoor spaces, and minimal restrictions. It's a little more expensive now (due to added features), but when we booked we were sold because it was affordable (in fact, I found the venue through a site called noweddingdebt, lol). MH is run by a non-profit, so it's an added bonus 100% of your payment goes to a good cause. In the hopes of helping future engaged couples, here's my breakdown: CATERING: Unlike other venues that have "recommended" aka "restricted" catering, MH has NO restrictions on catering, only "suggested" vendors. My fiancé and I are foodie monsters and wanted food unique to LA, so it was important we could hire any caterer we wanted. We went with Penny Ante (Chef Joef Centeno's catering arm of his restaurant group - Baco Mercat, Bar Ama, etc.). Penny Ante provided an utterly delicious family style meal (for essentially the same pricing as buffet we were quoted from other vendors). Although they weren't full service (we had to order rentals), Penny Ante was great about providing linens, water service, menus, votives, and to-go boxes (as well as directing flow and set-up & breakdown of all rentals). The guests couldn't stop raving about the food - so if you're a foodie, you can be loud and proud about hiring them. Also, MH is "bring your own alcohol", which simply needs to be served by a certified caterer or bartender. This is a HUGE money saver (we brought in bottled cocktails from Baldoria in DTLA and wine from Costco). RENTALS: MH helpfully suggests affordable local rental companies, and we ultimately chose MTB Event Rentals. Their customer service is top notch (it was important to view the items in person and they cheerily ad nauseum adjusted our invoice). Drop off was on time, the rentals were in good condition, & the price was right. MH lets you drop off Friday and pick-up Monday - which helps with delivery costs too. DECOR: The venue...is...gorgeous (FYI they do a "deep cleaning" the day before your event - the place never looked better with all of the sparkling tall windows) - so you need minimal decoration. We just had floral centerpieces at dinner and altar pieces for the ceremony (all from Violette's Flowers - a fabulous affordable vendor), and framed pictures scattered. My DOC also put some greens on the mantelpiece in the reception room. DOC: I'm very organized & thorough, but definitely needed a Day of Coordinator. I hired Amy of White Blossom and she was tremendous - running around and on top of everything always with a smile - and cute to boot. DJ: Our DJ was DJ Mojoe - he is so friendly & affordable - hire him! MISC.: --The MH Coordinators are great (although they don't provide day of coordination). I mainly spoke with Nicole (so helpful in working on our contract & a hundred other questions I asked her). They just hired Reid to their team, and he's so lovely I asked him where he's been all my life. He's from an event planning background and was SO HELPFUL with last minute craziness in the final days leading up to the wedding (assisting with rentals drop-off, frame stands, rehearsal, etc.). --MH only books 1 event a weekend, so dropping off any wedding items is so convenient. Their hours are only 9:30 - 5PM, but when our rehearsal ran long, they were so nice about keeping someone to close up for us. --We had our ceremony on the back patio (nicely shaded, not direct sunlight, which we prefer for guests), cocktail hour half outdoor & indoors, and dinner & dancing inside. If it rained, I was planning to have the ceremony in the foyer (which still would have looked nice). --We had 73 guests, which was perfect for the space -- I would say up to 90/100 is probably comfortable -- although full capacity is supposedly 150. --The reception room was a little dark, so we rented 5 uplights for dinner from our DJ, which was great and gave the room a nice glow. --For couple's photos - the Pasadena bridge is a few blocks walking distance (or the courthouse next door). --Parking was a breeze - there's free courthouse parking on the weekend for your event, and on the day of our wedding there was so much street parking. --The only restriction of note is no open flame or sparklers are allowed (we used LED tea lights), so no sparkler send-off I'd always envisioned - just be aware you may have to get creative if you want something similar. My only suggestion to MH is it would be amazing if they could offer to extend their hours, even for an additional fee (they close at 10PM for guests, hard close at 11PM for vendors). It would have been nice to start our ceremony later so we could party 'til midnight. We've received so many compliments on how beautiful this wedding venue was - thanks Maxwell House! read more

I work for a local nonprofit and we just discovered The Maxwell House as a venue to hold a staff training. Since we had a smallish group we used the Dining Room which was absolutely perfect for our needs. The staff is very friendly and they are gracious hosts. They made sure we had everything we needed and set up the audiovisual equipment for us ahead of time. The room is beautiful and cozy and the staff appreciated the location. It is easy to find and parking is plentiful. We plan to use this venue for future meetings! read more

Situated right off a nearby freeway, the Maxwell House is extremely accessible and an absolutely gorgeous venue. When me and my wife were looking for venues for our wedding, we ultimately landed on this one due to price, location, and the beauty and potential the venue had for hosting our type of event. A big selling point was that a majority of the fees go towards the Western Justice Center, a non-profit that grows and teaches conflict resolution skills in youth and educators and whose offices are inside this historic venue. The building itself is just full of beautiful little locations, from the lovely patio out back, to the warm and inviting interiors and grand staircase. They have quite a number of "rental" furniture and that comes with the fee of your wedding package that really helps cut down costs of having to chase down and find tables and chairs. The way they set up events also allows you come in a day before to set up, decorate, and have rehearsal so that on the day of your event things are mostly done and prepared for you. But, we did have one issue that we encountered that is hard for us to ignore, which was that due to a scheduling system change, our original requested day was double-booked. Now, I'm sure it's a rare occurrence and we were just unlucky, but it did hurt in the moment. However, the crew at the Maxwell House did everything they could to correct things and that's why I've decided to rate them so highly despite that. We still had a wonderful wedding and a brilliant day and we're still happy that we've had it here. There's so many positive aspects to this venue, to the kind hearts working there, the excellent vendor list, and the location itself, that I recommend you check out one of their Open Houses to experience the possibilities for yourself! read more

This one star is generous at best. Bottom line it's been 3 months since my daughter's wedding and they haven't returned our deposit. Truth be told a window was accidentally broken in the front of the house and it was reported to us by the custodian. He assured us that the video surveillance would be viewed and we would get a report if anything was found. No response. Perhaps the window repair was $400 and since our deposit was the same they chose to keep our deposit. The professional thing to do was to provide us with a damage report, the actual cost of repair and an explanation as to why they kept our money. Bottom line we contacted them and they never responded. The wedding was Friday night and we arrived on Saturday evening to remove some valuable items from the outdoor tent and we were yelled at by the custodian. He asked why we didn't follow the contract? Apparently you can't pick things up until Sunday. That's leaving valuable items unprotected for the evening, unexceptable. On Saturday night when we arrived the door to the Maxwell house was left open a crack, I investigated and the alarm went off. We were yelled at. Why on earth are we expected to provide security, they should have a custodian checking on security, certainly not us, but yet they made it seem as though it was our fault. Watch your deposit, I'm wondering if others have also been swindled. Perhaps that's a little strong but that's my takeaway since they have never provided with an explanation as to why our money wasn't returned. read more

We held my dearest friend/sister's Celebration of Life at the beginning of March 2017. We had only a couple of days lead time and everything just fell into place. We couldn't have asked for more helpful staff, they went above and beyond to assist us with our needs and provided the space we needed at a fair price. Using the Living Room, Dining Room and kitchen made serving food simpler and smoother. Everyone loved the historic and elegant atmosphere...We would definitely use this venue again! I selected Maxwell House as the event for a one day retreat for a non-profit organization. First, the location is beautiful. And they provide non-profit pricing which is extremely helpful for organizations that have limited budgets for professional development. The coordinators that helped me with the event Rae (before the event) and Reid (the day of the event) were both very helpful and wanted to ensure that everything was taken care of to support a great event from the set up of the chairs, tables exactly as we needed them to the AV set up for powerpoint. We were able to hire outside catering for our meals which was also very helpful so that we could enjoy whatever food we wanted for both breakfast and lunch. There was a parking lot across the street which was available for all our participants. The event was a success and I'm grateful to MH for all they did to ensure this retreat was well executed. My husband and I were married at The Maxwell House last month. This place is perfect for a wedding of anywhere from 70 - 100 guests. Unlike a lot of venues, these guys are very easy to work with. Camille, the Facilities Coordinator, is very sweet and helpful, and allowed us to walk through the building quite a few times before our actual wedding date (to take measurements, do vendor walk-thru's, etc.) Their pricing is very affordable, and they are able to provide a good number of tables and wooden folding chairs, as well as a PA system for toasts. The building itself is beautiful. It felt like we were hosting a 1920s house party... We couldn't have picked a better place! read more

The rooms vary in size and scope, allowing space for all to convene, while also providing quiet nooks to steal some privacy. The venue is intimate enough to feel close with people while never feeling too crowded. My husband and I got married here a few months ago, and the place was fantastic. It is meant for smaller weddings (our wedding was 150 people), so I would stay away if you are having a huge wedding. The venue itself is beautiful, an old historic Spanish Mansion in a fantastic residential location in Pasadena. There is not much need for decorations because Maxwell House has it all. We rented out the entire place, and had access to both the indoor and outdoor areas, as well as the upstairs to get ready in. There is free street parking and a lot across the street, which is super convenient in L.A., and hard to come by. It is basically BYO - Everything, which is great for those looking to save some money. They provide chairs and tables for up to 120 (from my recollection), and sound, and some other tables, but anything else you need to bring in (utensils, linens etc). They have a list of preferred vendors, but they work with you if you want to work with vendors outside of those - which is great. I loved working with Nicole and her staff and all my experiences with her were pleasant and timely. A few things to note: the large table in the dining room does not move, the seating in the larger room can be tight for 120 guests, so we split up our guest into the patio and conference room so that it wouldn't be uncomfortable, and lastly, because of the residential location, there is a hard end time of 10pm. read more

This is a very late review. My son and daughter-in-law had their wedding at Maxwell House this past October. We selected this venue due to the intimate, vintage setting. The ceremony and cocktail hour were held outdoors and dinner/reception inside. The staff was very easy to work with. We were able to do multiple walk-thoughs with our vendors over the months leading up to the wedding which really helped with the planning process. We had access to the venue the day prior to the wedding which worked well for vendor set-up and ceremony rehearsal. The site coordinator was also kind enough to allow us access to Maxwell House an hour earlier than normal on the day of the event which gave us some breathing room and made it so that the ceremony started on time. We utilized the upstairs for the bride, her girls and moms to get ready and the guys got ready downstairs. I highly recommend this venue if planning an intimate wedding of no more than 120 guests. read more

As Director of Development for a local organization, I've had events at many different venues. The Maxwell House was a superb location for our annual major donor dinner. Our 80 guests fit perfectly for dinner and a speaking program in the main room, and enjoyed a cocktail reception on the back patio with the lovely globe light strings overhead and dessert reception in the grand foyer following dinner. We used the large dining room table for a double-sided buffet service, which worked great for quick dinner service. The ambience of the Maxwell House is elegant yet not pretentious. The flexibility of having various spaces to use created an event with a easy flow from beginning to end, and if we had a larger turn out for the event, there would have been numerous ways to design the event and event flow. The staff were all gracious and accommodating, a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. I look forward to our next event there! read more

This review is for the person who responds to online inquiries named Sylvia and also regarding the way this place deals with requests. I emailed to get information on having my son's birthday party at the house. I requested whether a particular date was available in June. Sylvia responded and said that date wasn't open but all other weekend in June were. She then sent me the introductory package with the rates for each space. She is very rude on email and does not answer questions. I wanted to rent the patio space. She said I can rent the patio space but that there would be no access to the indoors. When I asked her what that meant, i.e., whether that means that a catering company could still serve food at my event, she refused to respond. Instead, she sent me an email this morning stating that all dates for the entire YEAR, except for March and December were booked. Not sure what the deal is with this place. She is completely unhelpful and rude. Don't use this place. read more
