This is predominantly a wedding / banquet hall and catering establishment. The only day they serve is for Sunday brunch (9 - 1). Wow, what a great Sunday brunch it is. Everything tasted wonderful and didn't have that mass produced quality about it. The broasted chicken was excellent, the ham was tender, the bacon just the right amount of crispy and the potato selection was excellent. That's just to name a few of the offerings. Of course there was scrambled eggs, pancakes, french toast, beef, corn dogs, dressing and more.... A nice salad bar and an incredible table of desserts that resembled homemade. Brunch for two was a reasonable $30 which includes unlimited orange juice. My family will no longer just be driving by The Main Event on Sundays.

It wasn't overwhelming busy either. There were large and small groups all enjoying meals. This was my first time here and I thought the brunch selection was pretty good. They had your standard breakfast options like scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, french toast sticks, etc. Then there was lunch food like broasted chicken, corn, mashed potatoes, etc. In addition to a salad bar, sundae bar and a wide variety of desserts like pies and brownies. Another plus was a self service beverage area that had different juices and milk. I wish they had a self service coffee area since our servers weren't really that efficient bringing or filling coffee. Same with water too. I don't usually enjoy buffets. I think the food sits out too long and is not the greatest quality. I find a la carte brunches much more suited to my tastes. But this buffet did have a good selection and the food tasted good because it was constantly being refilled. And for $9.99/person this was a really good choice.

The Gathering is one of our "ball peen hammer restaurants". I will never right a bad review off of just one experience. I will almost always give the place a second or even third chance. We gave The Gathering two chances for brunch. Both times my wife and I went by ourselves and were seated at a round table designed for six or more people. It's very awkward for two people to have a comfortable meal at such a big table. Both times we went for the brunch buffet were early in their service time. Both times the food was cold, dried out and sometimes rubbery. I took what I thought was a pork dish from the buffet, to later learn that it was a fish dish. Unfortunately The Gathering is the largest banquet hall in town, so many weddings are held there. The last one I went to there, I was on the first table served, and my dish was cold. I'm not sure how they can serve cold food. There was also a large time delay between the first and last people served. If I'm going there for a wedding, I usually try to eat somewhere else first.
