This group of individuals were also extremely rude.

The bartender working today was by far one of the rudest individuals I've encountered in SLO county. Do NOT recommend doing business with The Mark during the daytime. Edit: I had a root beer in my hand that I had purchased from Rocket Fizz. You can zoom in on the camera footage to show that you're wrong with your assumption saying that I brought in alcohol? Not to mention I was on my lunch break... I had never been inside this establishment beforehand. Bartender and patrons were very rude. On top of these false claims, I looking for a trash can to throw it away. Very disappointed by this response from the "owner".

I ordered two fish tacos and my friends had nachos. They were all good! I got a spicy Margarita. It was very good and strong. They have pool tables and also an eating area outside. And it's dog friendly. So next time after we take our walk on the beach we'll take our dog here.

    Dessert...yummy!

We loved our food! The Fresno burger had that perfect tinge of sweetness due to the fig jam they add and the goat cheese gave it that zesty smooth texture. It was like nothing I'd tried before. The spicy chicken sandwich was flavorful. It had that nice spicy kick to it. Delish! Our waiter was very attentive and very courteous. Nice ambiance. It was a little chilly, but it is a big place with very high ceilings.

    Look at those drink prices!

Stop eating elsewhere if you are downtown...this place has it all. I think the storefront, with four or five wobbly but friendly regulars sitting at a bar all day long, turns people away. But the magical SLO coupling of low drink prices and insanely yummy food makes the Mark well worth the visit. Get the tacos! The veggie is great, the fried chicken too. But the best is the chicken! The back patio is great if you want to avoid the bar seating, and the tables by the sidewalk are fun for being near the passersby! Again, finding inexpensive food at any quality is difficult in SLO and nearly impossible downtown--so please come support this great place!

Strawberry magaritas to the right and peach margaritas to the right

My party of two came during happy hour to hit some of the bars in downtown SLO. We came across The Mark and took a seat in the back patio. Music was playing and the weather felt like we were not in SLO. Our waitress was super nice giving us drink recommendations. We settled on the strawberry and peach margaritas with salt om the rims. Couldn't taste the fruit purees but the drink was still drinkable despite myself liking sweeter cocktails. Amazingly the price of our drinks came out to be $5 each which is a great deal. Our table also order the ceviche that came with seasoned chips. The plating was super aesthetic and the taste did not let down either. Filled with cured white fish, avocados, tomatoes, sliced radishs and topped with pickled onions the flavors was well balanced and not too acidic. The ceviche was around $12 and I would recommend if people want a nice bite while sipping their drinks.

Yum! Came here for happy hour and ordered a peach margarita along with the ceviche to munch on. The Mark is known for their tequila bar, so I had to order the signature margarita. However, these drinks are STRONGGG. I honestly did not taste a hint of peach LOL but I still enjoyed it! Loved the salt on the rim of the glass which helped me down the drink. I wish I ordered another one! The 10oz margarita during happy hour is $1 off and only $5!!!! You could order three of these margaritas and be at your desired level of ~wasted~ at the Mark instead of going another bar and spending $15 for one cocktail that barely gets you tipsy. YMMV though. The ceviche was delicious. I loved the presentation to start off. The fish tasted super fresh and my newfound obsession is pickled onions...goes so well with ceviche! I wish the portion size was just a little bigger but I get it...fish isn't cheap. Anyways, the Mark is the place to go. I felt like I was at an outdoor pool party in Vegas (minus the pool, minus the location). The music was blasting that I had to scream to talk to my friend and the kids and adults were running around everywhere outside. I would love to come here and lounge around with a margarita in my hand here every weekend.

The Mark downtown SLO and Shwayze just happens to drop by after a concert. Amazing guy and genuinely a kind person. Thank you.

Visited The Mark again, one of favorite spots when I'm in SLO. The staff is amazing and I always feel so welcomed. This is a must place to have a meal and if you just want to have drinks and dance it's the best place downtown. I can't stress how much fun The Mark is.

The wonderful thing about having more time at places that were normally day trips or overnights is being able to try new restaurants in addition to going back to our faves.  The Mark is the perfect example when we were in SLO last.  The ahi poke was packed separate from the shells so you don't have to worry about soggy tacos for takeout which is a nice touch and my favorite of what we ordered.  The tacos were good but would've been better if they were able to put my chipotle aioli on the side as requested so I can add what I needed to tone it down.  Unfortunately my husband is shellfish intolerant so I couldn't give them to him.  The steak asado sliders were delicious and flavorful which I would order again. What dropped it a star for me was they did not seem to be taking phone orders after trying 5 times to call.  Hearing the cut Grubhub tends to take, I try to go the phone route first.  Secondly, the special instructions I typed into my online order (e.g. no jalapenos for the ahi poke one of the tacos and sliders and chipotle aioli on the side for the camaron tacos) were not fulfilled.  I can understand maybe missing one but all 4?   Good thing my husband's jalapeno allergy is mild but I would've enjoyed those camaron more if my mouth wasn't on fire half the time. May return in the future post-Covid for dine-in but probably not for takeout if they are not able to accommodate allergies and spice levels.

Terrible experience with the bouncers, they get very hyped and aggressive, a power trip. Much better bars that have no cover charge.

It's one of those things where you don't know what you want but every menu all looks the same. We finally tried it out for dinner after a weekend in the wine country. The restaurant is right in the heart of downtown SLO next to the park and riverwalk. We had an early reservation at 6 on a Saturday and let me say the place was packed. The outside patio was completely full which was nice to see. Checking in was easy with the hostess. All was sweet and made it fast and simply and we were seated right away without having to wait for the whole party to arrive. Menu wise, a bit of everything but they specialized in paella's. And that was had. Our waitress Kaitlin was the sweetest. Right from the start, she was a major doll. Made sure we were taken care of throughout the whole dining experience. Started off with a bottle of red for the table. A good selections from their menu. Then a few small shared plates for the table. An order of the bacon wrapped dates, Brussels sprouts, Peruvian shrimp ceviche and the gambas al ajillo. First off the dates, very tasty with salty and sweet. A good bite size with about 6 piece. Then the ceviche, nice chunks of shrimp with all the trimming. Cucumber, red onions, tomatoes , avocado, cilantro and chips. Then you have the sprouts which is pretty self explanatory. Roasted to a nice crisp with golden raisins and almonds. Pretty decent and delicious. Lastly the gambas, sautéed shrimp in paprika garlic and white wine sauce with a Parmesan slice of sourdough bread. Everything was delicious and a good start to an amazing meal. I do recommend the starters. For our entree, even though we started off with loads of the shared plates. The mains all looked amazing. Clearly we had to have the paella which they're known for. There were couple options in them but we opted for the mix which was a combination of the seafood and meat paella. Let me say it was massive and clearly more than enough for four of us. The nice big chunks of seafood and meat which they did not skimp on. The flavors and the whole combination of everything together, chefs kiss. It was pretty massive as well. Of course we couldn't just stop there, we also had the lamb chops with frites. Cooked perfectly and very tasty. The hanger steak with chimichurri sauce accompanied by roasted potatoes and sautéed broccolini. That dish was excellent and steak was cooked perfectly. Lastly, I believe it was one of their specials the sea bass. A nice thick and flaky piece of fish on top of a red sauce of tomatoes, olives. The flavor was excellent and worth it. The food was excellent and it was a surprise when there were leftovers. We may have over done it with the extra entrees after seeing the massive platter of paella. But every dish was excellent and worth it. The service was great with everyone involved. Friendly staff and excellent customer service. The food and wine were great. The whole dining experience was top notch and greatly enjoyed. We will definitely be back. At least we know about the paella now...lol... A must and highly recommend. Too full to even looked at the dessert menu.

After checking out around half a dozen options, we decided on Luna red as the ambiance looked amazing and the menu had options for all the picky eaters in our group. We got seated outdoors and they had sufficient number of patio umbrellas to shelter us from the afternoon sun. The outdoors was really beautiful, they had plenty of greenery and it was like a tropical paradise. We got a lot of appetizers to share, they have options to order 4, 6 or 10 tacos. We got 10 start off with. I personally got a paella as it has been forever since I had it. *brussel sprouts- 4.5/5- one of the better versions of brussel sprouts I have had in a while, they were beautifully roasted, they retained their character but at the same time were delicious instead of tasting too healthy. *fingerling potatoes-4.5/5- potatoes tend to be tasty any which way they are cooked. The standout in this version was the finger licking sauce it was doused in. *paella- 4.5/5- I got the chicken paella. It came with a soft jammy egg. The dish had 75% protein and about 25% rice. The rice at the bottom was nicely crisped up. The chicken was in large chunks but surprisingly non funky and wonderfully flavored. I stole some of the sauce from the tacos to amp up this dish further. 4.5 for the food, rounding up for the good vibes and great ambiance!

What a find!! Where to begin... I was pleasantly surprised…read moreto have come across Coya Peruvian Restaurant in a lovely street of SLO. I was even more impressed when I got to try their food and realized that they do very little to no compromising with the authenticity of their flavors. Because... what's the point of eating Peruvian if is going to taste like California cuisine? The Highlights: Ceviche Mixto: the leche de tigre was bursting with lime, perfectly cured seafood, undeniable freshness and the right amount of kick! Papas a la Huancaina: the papas were rich in that creamy velvety sauce, though it could have used a bit more of ají amarillo. Lomo Saltado: the fillet was smokey and tender with flawlessly executed wok-sear and home made fries (not frozen)! Grilled Pulpo: the octopus was tender, beautifully charred, and packed with savory flavor. Pisco Sour: because you CANNOT visit a Peruvian restaurant without trying a pisco sour! The pisco sour was properly frothed, balanced, strong, and highly refreshing. And the best for last.... **Conchitas a la parmesana** I did a happy dance in my chair as I took the first bite...The broiled scallops fused in the creamy richness of the Parmesan gratin. Muuua! Delish!!! The Service: It was courteous, prompt and the staff offered excellent suggestions. The ambiance: What a beautiful place! The atmosphere is casual, inviting and rich with culture. There are beautiful traditional displays of Peruvian textiles and striking copper craftsmanship lining the space. The wall art beautifully honors Peru's agricultural heritage creating a warm and inviting environment to stage the meal. The music was great! Latin American Spanish rock/pop. ...and please do not leave without some alfajores! One of my favorite Peruvian sweets

The staff was friendly while we waited for our table, but once we were seated, the experience quickly went downhill. It started with something simple: only 3 out of 5 of us were given water, and it took about 10 minutes (and multiple passes by our waitress, who was serving smaller tables) before the rest of us were acknowledged. After placing our appetizer order, our waitress disappeared for about 15 minutes. When the food finally arrived, only two of us were given plates for a shared dish. A third plate was brought out, but it was dirty and had to be taken back. We then waited another 10+ minutes just to get proper plates. We were told the risotto would take the longest, so when three entrées arrived, we assumed the remaining dishes--a salad and the risotto--were still coming. Eventually, the risotto arrived, but the salad never did. By this point, we had already been sitting for about an hour and a half. When we asked about the missing dish, we were told there had been a mix-up in the kitchen and it would be brought out. Twenty minutes later, after everyone else had finished eating and the table was already being cleared, the salad finally showed up. By then, it was too late--we had already shared our meals with the fifth person. What made the situation worse was the complete lack of acknowledgment. There was no apology, no sense of urgency, and nothing done to make up for the mistakes. For a place charging around $40 per plate, I expected much better service and accountability. It's especially frustrating because the food itself was genuinely good. The ceviche was delicious, the lomo saltado was excellent, and the risotto was well prepared. The yuca fries were just okay, but overall, the kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. Restaurant was well decorated and had good music. Unfortunately, the service overshadowed everything. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.
