As someone who isn't exactly the next Martha Stewart but occasionally likes to dabble in creativity, The Makery was an absolute delight! I spent a Saturday morning there with a wonderful group of ladies, ranging in age from our 40s to 80s, and with crafting skills spanning from "I've got this" to "help me, please." The staff? Top-notch. Seriously. They were like crafting superheroes--swooping in with paint suggestions and design tips and even taking over when my creative stress levels hit their peak. And they did it all with a smile and words of encouragement. The store itself is a crafter's paradise. If you can dream it, you can probably make it here--flowers, bows, 3D words, endless embellishments. Me? I had my heart set on a Husker door hanger (because, well, priorities), and I pulled it off with the staff's help! We were there for about 2.5 hours and had a reservation for our group of six, which I'd recommend because this place was hopping. My masterpiece set me back $48.18, and I happily tossed a $5 tip in the jar--honestly, I wish I'd had more cash because the staff was that helpful. I spotted a few other projects I'd love to try... once my art anxiety settles and I start believing in my crafting abilities again. Until then, I'll admire my door hanger and look forward to my next visit to The Makery--where creativity meets encouragement, and even the most hesitant crafter (like me) can leave feeling like a DIY champion! read more

Went to a team outing for work and this place was AMAZING! The only downside is that it's not easy to find, but that was it! But once inside there are tons of options to paint and prices are reasonable too! Starting at $35... also, the employees are so friendly and they will write on your board and they have very nice handwriting. Plenty of room for parties and you're allowed to bring in food! Absolutely love this craft store that allows you to be creative & make one of a kind personal gifts or something for your own home decor!!! The store has plenty of choices for you to choose your craft project & get started right away! The staff are friendly & helpful from beginning to end!! Check the calendar for daily events! We went on open craft night. Fabulous ideas here-from wall art, incentive signs, door hangers, small plant holders, string art & more! I highly recommend going with friends, family or if you want time by yourself this is the place to be to let your creative self out! Everything is clean & there's no shortage of supplies!! We had a ground of various ages and interests- it was awesome that we were all able to bring home a completely different project. The staff was super helpful but not overbearing! They definitely helped our vision come to life. From helping us pick a project, to giving tips to putting on the finishing touches- they truly did it all while still giving us enough privacy to chat and have fun. We made door hangers and had a great experience. We didn't register ahead and they were great about letting us just show up! There were probably 15 other crafters and the three staff members did a great job circulating throughout, offering tips and technique help. Every project looked so different but turned out amazing! The staff use the glue guns and staple gun to complete your project with a bow, rope to hang it and any extras you might have. Tips: you pay at the end unless you register before online, checkout the online sample shapes because they will give you some ideas, Pinterest search some ideas too, they also have samples hanging all around the room. Pros: the staff, quality of product, instruction, variety of supplies and the fact that the staff finalize the project for you Cons: my door hanger ended up being more than what I could buy it for completed but it was fun making it read more

What a great experience we had! I was looking for a unique place to host part of a bachelorette party when I was given the idea of the Makery off of Center street. Communicating with the owner, Lindsey, was super easy to work with and she never hesitated to answer any of my questions! The entire party had such a wonderful time, and the individuals running our party room- Hannah and Sonny- were so kind, so cheerful, and so helpful! The Makery is an amazing place. I have had a great experience every time I have gone in. Today the staff went above and beyond! I came in with my Little for her first trip to The Makery. We had a wonderful time and they helped make her first experience so much fun. I made a mistake on my door sign and since closing time was quickly approaching I decided I would need to come back this week to take time to fix it. Jordan saw that I was close to finishing my sign, but wouldn't have been able to fix it on my own in time. She helped fix my sign even though they were in the process of closing so I could take home my sign today. This was not something she had to do, but I am so appreciative of her kindness. Awesome new business in West Omaha! The concept is unique and fills a needed niche. Came here for an event and tried string art for the first time. They have all the supplies you need and are very helpful in providing instruction. They are also accommodating: they had printed out many designs for the event for us to choose from, but more than willing to help you with something else you have in mind. They list events on the website and prices are per person. They are open to new ideas, if you have an inspiration you want to try. Can host birthday parties and private events. Absolutely love The Makery! Such a fun and creative space to let out your inner Pinterest goddess. I've taken two classes here (succulent planter and wood wall art) and both have been so much fun. The owner is very friendly and helpful although at times she may be a bit overwhelmed (there's only one of her for 20+ students). She has a very good business going and is constantly adding new classes. She also brings back favorite/sold out classes so everyone gets a chance to attend. I love to craft but find it wasteful to buy all the materials when I will only be making one item and despise the mess/cleanup. This place is perfect for that! Your supplies are included in the class fee and you aren't left cleaning up a huge mess. I look forward to taking more classes! read more

This place is amazing. I went here with a friend for a girls night & we were both pleasantly surprised by how much we loved the event & the atmosphere. We attended one of the popular "DIY terrarium nights." It cost us $28+ tax (we got $2 off per ticket for RSVPing with more than one person) and all materials and crafting supplies were included in the price- not a single thing cost extra. You could use as much or as little of the trinkets, sand, rocks, plants, etc for the inside of your terrarium (each person gets one glass terrarium- that seemed to be the only limit on what you could/could not take). The event was scheduled to last two hours but we were done in just over an hour & you can leave whenever you're finished. The building itself was a crafter's dream space with wide open space, endless supplies, and a general positive vibe. My only suggestion for future workshops is for the owner/leader to check back in with whole group a couple more times after the beginning with helpful instructions and tips. We were left a little confused at first & had to wait for her to loop back around for individual instruction a couple times. All in all, more than worth the money. Do it. You won't regret it. read more

We had a wonderful time here at the makery doing succulent planters. We did this as a date night for our anniversary. I even signed up to do it again next month with my mom and sister for my mother's birthday! This time we didn't sign up because it was already full by the time we found out about the event! We called to talk with the employees about whether we could come, and they told us we could show up if it was not busy. It is a come and go event. We showed up early and there were plenty of spots open! Only took us about 15 minutes. I will say we arrived within the first 2 hours of the event, and others behind us were disappointed that we had taken the last of some of the planters. If you have a particular item in mind that you want to use if it is unique, show up early! My only suggestion is more interaction from the owner as we were left a bit confused when we started and expected more direction and assistance. read more

So fun!! I brought my nanny kids and we spent a good 2.5 hours here making string art, door hangers, and a quote sign. They loved it and the ladies in there were so helpful and hands on. The final products looked great and the kiddos were so excited to show their parents their masterpieces! We will definitely come back. read more

The Makery is fun, but limited project scope. It also has strange hours and closes for Private Parties so going there can't be a spur of the moment decision. Always check their calendar to see if 1) they are open 2) if you HAVE to make a door hanger and 3) are they closed for a private party. I guess the owner is making plenty of money as is, but we are heading to Create in Elkhorn for a more spur of the moment night out with my friends! read more
