I hope to go back and learn more about sewing, what a fun new skill to learn! One location note, we thought it was at the Hipstitch place on Spencer Street, but found out the class was at the retail store at 1280 Washington St. Which is very close, like less than a minute from Spencer St. Our fault for not reading the email thoroughly, made us really late. Only response was 10 minutes after booking a course asking to apply the new customer 10% credit only to be told "no we can't do that. We will apply it to you next class". Refusal to respond at all to any other communication. Same company that will tell you you can't get a credit if you don't cancel with enough leeway. Hypocritical and terrible customer service. Will never book a class again.

Eric is an amazing teacher and all-around friendly guy. He has a ton of great stories. 2. You're working with a torch, which is great for beginners and you get to do absolutely everything yourself. I've attended other classes which use glass furnaces, but ended up just assisting the instructor (we were making a glass pumpkins) instead of doing anything myself. Learning from Eric while I got to do everything myself was 10x more fun and rewarding. 3. You get personalized instruction for 3+ hours which is a great deal compared to other classes out there. 4. You can bring food and drink, but I'd recommend eating beforehand as making the glass can be a lot of work! Included are photos the pieces we made (we took a 2-person class). Found a deal for the glassblowing sampler on Verlocal. You don't actually get to do any…read moreglassblowing, but they do walk you through some basic glassmaking. We made paper weights in the two hour class. They spend the first part of the class teaching how not to burn the crap out of yourself and scaring you with the possibility that you're probably going to burn the crap out of yourself. To say I was nervous would be an understatement considering I was sweating before I even picked the gathering rod up. Really, you're not left to your own devices here. One of the workers walks you through everything, standing by your side as you gather the glass and stopping you from touching rod with your right hand. You don't realize how tricky playing with hot glass is until you're standing in front of the blazing hot glory hole trying not to burn all the hair off your arm. I was thankful for the guys working with us. I'm apparently completely useless in making things with molten glass, but Ken helped me make my paperweight and not burn myself. Really enjoyed this class and my quick brush with glass working. I would definitely try another class

She explained the process and steps so well (and without anything feeling overwhelming) that I instantly knew I'd found my newest hobby! Thanks to Diana's lesson I was able to make a mug and I'm so proud that I made anything at all, let alone a mug (which I've used everyday now)! The studio is absolutely gorgeous so charming - it has such a calm, welcoming vibe. Mike and Diana are so welcoming and approachable, and have clearly created a space that makes you feel comfortable the moment you walk in and it feels like the kind of place where you immediately want to stay and keep creating. They also have an incredible selection of glazes, tools, and beautiful handmade pieces and gifts in the shop. Mike and Diana were so kind and knowledgeable as I asked millions of questions on what the different tools were used for, it's really cool that they have such a variety. AND they're right across from the Waban T stop which I love. I walked in excited to just try out something new but left completely hooked on ceramics. I can't wait to go back for more lessons!

I made this bowl for my wife for Mother's Day & filled it with home-baked scones. The personal lesson was great and it was given lots of opportunity to try new things and develop a technique. A great thing to do in Waban - especially wedged between some Stone L'Oven pizza or for parents looking to be busy while their kids are in the Karate studio next door. I'll definitely be back. The tea ceremony here is easily one of the most interesting cultural experiences I've had in Boston…read morein a long time. Since the maximum number of guests per ceremony is six people, you'll have to make a reservation in advance. My boyfriend and I were a little worried when we arrived and realized that we'd be the only ceremony guests that day, but it ended up being a real treat. The hostess, Kate, and our tea apprentice, Samantha, soon put us to ease even though we had no prior knowledge of ceremony protocol. The tea ceremony experience started in the gallery, which displays student work, and Kate filled us in on the background of the ceremony and the studio. We then went down a flight of stairs and got a glimpse of the ceramics studio, and got to walk through the small but charming Japanese garden. In the foyer of the tea house, we hung up our coats and took off our shoes before going into the tea room. As the tea apprentice, Samantha acted as our guide for how to act during the ceremony, but she and Kate were always happy to give us additional guidance if we forgot a step or two. We enjoyed two servings of matcha tea and sweets, and also got to admire a few pieces of Japanese ceramics (some crafted in the studio we passed), some other art pieces, and a seasonal botanical arrangement. Even with the formalities we were just learning, we found ourselves feeling quite calm and relaxed. This experience, carefully orchestrated by Kate with the assistance of her tea apprentices, is easily worth the $30 fee per person. I'd love to come back in another season and see the variations in the ceremony.

Nicole walked me through everything in a way that was easy for me to understand. Making the scarf itself was very hands on and a lot of fun. Nicole gave me a lot of really good ideas and walked me through the steps as we went. I would recommend Nicole's classes to anyone who is a little unsure in their artistic ability and needs skilled support.
