Nothing fancy but sometimes that's a good thing! The owner is seriously HILARIOUS! He was chit chatting away with me, his regulars, and all of his other customers while he was cooking up a sausage egg and cheese English muffin. It's easy to tell loves his business and what he does everyday. He is clearly passionate about coffee and serving his customers! I just ordered a plain double shot espresso and although it wasn't SUPER FANCY and the taste didn't knock my socks off it was still good and I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a side of laughter served up with their coffee. read more

This is a confusing establishment. We walked in and there didn't seem to be any sense of order. But we were eventually greeted and we asked to sit down, and say ourselves. We looked at the menu for a very long time, I think because we both honestly expected more and thought we were missing something. When they noticed, the owner(?) came by the table and joked about us "studying the menu" and the woman behind the counter joked that she "was about to bring us the test." Once we both reluctantly decided what we wanted, we ordered and waited. My girlfriend ordered a sandwich on a croissant and I ordered a simple everything bagel and cream cheese, she with a water and I with a London fog. After a relatively short time, we got our food, minus the water. My London fog was excellent. Genuinely. The bagel, a little fluffier than I'm used to but good. And her sandwich, also good. Nothing was extraordinary. Everything was just good. The environment however was interesting. One room seemed to be filled with random furniture. The main dining area was haphazardly organized. There are empty boxes by the restrooms, Christmas decorations stored on the beverage cooler, cases of drinks next to the cooler, and just random stuff everywhere. All that aside, the food won't disappoint, but it's stuff you can easily make at home. read more

Stopped in for a cup of coffee with my mom. We split one of the deliciously large cookies displayed by the register and each had a cup of coffee. The coffee was really good! I think the girls behind the counter were a little more concerned with joking around with their friend at the first table than really being helpful to new customers , but they were fun and polite and their jokes made it a laid back atmosphere. I like the little couch area, too. If I were to go back with a few friends I would try to snag that area and sit and chat. I will be back to try more goodies, for sure! read more

Main Bean is by far my favorite coffee shop anywhere. Personal and friendly service, excellent coffee, great atmosphere. Their breakfast sandwiches are delicious, the bagels are the best and the eggs are farm fresh. I just had a turkey club wrap for the first time yesterday and that was bangin also. They have several different wrap choices and cheeses, bagels, croissants, muffins, pie, you name it. They sell local honey, and natural lotions in the shop, large bottled drink selection. There's a lounge with couches and TV with Netflix, board games, and wifi. It's just an all around great place to be :) read more

Their sandwiches are as good as can be with all fresh ingredients. Not a big coffee drinker but I love their Stewart sodas. Not too many places carry that brand. The atmosphere is pleasant leaning to the quaint. The boss is charming and friendly. I go there as often as I can and am always happy with my food choices. Best coffee shop I've ever found. Seriously. I'm a local graduate student, and I'm really impressed with the quality and consistency of this place. I've been studying/reading at the Main Bean for about a year now, and I consider it my best find for the Wilkes-Barre area when I just need a place to relax outside of my apartment. It has 2 TV's in separate areas, a private lounge room for study groups/extra privacy, free wifi, and there must be at least 15 flavors of coffee available. My brother is from Philly, and when I brought him here he told me they made the best Americano he's ever had. Plus, the iced coffee has COFFEE ICE CUBES! The prices are very reasonable, as well (and this coming from a poor college student!) Also, the food is fresh with healthy options, almond milk is always available for those like me who are lactose intolerant, and the atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. I always bring my family here to eat when they visit from out of town, and it's always my first suggestion to friends/dates for a casual place to spend time together. You can spend hours here with a book or laptop without feeling out of place or pressured to buy more food/drink if you don't want to... or you can get food/coffee to go! Definitely worth trying! :) read more

I can NOT disagree with the other reviews more, for my 'double cappuccino' was not even drinkable! I'm not from this area and was relying on yelp to get the best cup of coffee I could but what a flop. I found the store to be dirty and dingy not 'cute'. I even asked upon entering if they made fresh espresso for I did not see a machine just coffee carafes. The woman said yes and said they did have a machine yet the only sound made while I waited for my coffee was that of a microwave. Being that I was the only person in the store I know the microwave made some part of my cappuccino. I would not recommend anyone to go here if u are from out of town. I really think that the people in the area may be used to those sort of services and products but if you're seeking fresh hot delicious espresso from a clean establishment this is not a place u want to go. read more

Nice funky place with old couches and laid back decor. Tuna salad was great as was the latte.i thought I was in Haight Ashbury. Waitress was really nice. I liked the color coded poster explaining the barista offerings. Almost went for the macciato.there was a tv room with a couch, so you could watch the big game if you wanted to. read more
