The part that bothered me is all the fake cards they sell. They had an entire shelf of fake singles. They are Chinese counterfeit cards. I see this stuff at card shows and eBay, but not at a shop. To the untrained eye, they look like real cards. Parents be warned. Customer service is meh. The workers were ripping packs which seems an odd thing to do when you have customers in the store. I feel sorry for the owner, who wasn't there.

Bach & Rock was a shop we just stumbled across while we were out and about in Astoria. This place is loaded with musical instruments, they sell CD's and other physical forms of music that have long stopped seeing new prints in a broad way. For movies they have DVD's, VHS and probably any other form of physical media I am not mentioning for movies. On top of that this place is kind of an incense heaven. The selection is huge and there were at least five different spots I found in the store where they had incense sticks. I bought quite a bit and was pleased with finding so many scents I don't normally come across. The atmosphere is quirky to say the least. Not only is their windblowing instruments everywhere, it's loaded with plants and other decor that definitely gives this place a unique signature. And of course the fact that a real parrot was here only enhanced that. And of course we had to swing by and say "hi" to the bird.

Also during christmas, I got online pick up for a mickey mouse christmas train set. They sold out, so I placed the same order online for shipping. It delayed and delayed and delayed until it finally canceled. Why? Because they changed their price from $10 to freaking $65 and wanted me to pay the higher price. I called and went in circles with people for hours. The train wouldn't come in time for christmas anymore which made me sad, but at that point I just wanted them to ship me the product for the price I BOUGHT IT FOR INSTEAD OF WHAT THEY WERE TRYING TO UPCHARGE ME. they wouldn't. Place is a freaking scam. Also there's constantly workers stocking the shelves mid day and taking up whole isles and acting annoyed at customers for being in the way. This place sucks.

They wont allow you to 'fix' while in line, you have to go stand in a long line with one overworked customer svc person, and its a major hassle, especially if you're popsicles are thawing. I am an astute shopper - I'm expert on using their app, clipping their coupons, reading the ads before I shop, etc., and to boot I worked grocery early in my long career. These were genuine errors. We've had to endure a near year-long revamp of the store, its nearly finished, and I've yet to to see ANYWHERE any improvement in the experience. Its mind boggling how much money they spent to achieve NOTHING. When I was a checker, they came out with the most efficient way to process items; customer puts product on belt, the employee scans it and puts it right in the shopping bag. Boom, handled once! Super efficient! A few years ago some idiot with no clue how checkstands operate came up with the bright idea of having the checker scan it, put it on another belt, where another employee bags it. Handled TWICE. And this store NEVER has 1:1 checker/bagger. Today there were FIVE checkers, and ONE bagger. Fred Meyer continues its increasing abuse of plastic. Too many instances to write here.

My senior citizen mom bought a pare of pants yesterday with the senior discount of $1.80 off her…read morepants. She got home and realized they were missing a button. She was able to come back today the next day (wednesday) and she just wanted to exchange then for the same pants that didn't have a missing button. They refused to exchange them and charged her the $1.80 and told her since it isn't senior Tuesday today that there was nothing they could do. There is always something you can do. I don't think that's right. My mom is on a fixed income and doesn't buy things for herself often. Sure it's only $1.80 but my mom was clearly upset about it and $1.80 makes a difference for some people.
