w/ Blueberry Mojito
Rose E.

This is a relatively new place in Baxter Village...and for some reason, I've been hesitant about trying it, but decided to finally give it a go! The place had a dark, but a cozy decor (loved the big booths with large tables)...and I noticed that they even had a nice patio area, which we may try next time. The menu was quite casual, with mostly hand-held type foods, but more upscaled and exciting than typical bar foods. Not sure why, but I thought this place would be more Asian fusion, but nope - it was way more Mexican than Asian. Also, the menu pricing was quite friendly...especially considering the inflation lately. We started with Bang Bang Grouper Bites...then we both had the Crispy Fish Tacos. For sides, I went with the Sweet Waffle Fries (Oink, Oink!) and my more diet-savvy hubby chose the salad. I was surprisingly happy with the foods, especially the Grouper Bites! The Fish Tacos were really good too, but was surprised that it didn't come with any salsa or some type of red sauce. I also tried this Blueberry Mojito, and now, this was truly awesome...both in taste and presentation! THE thing that was off about this place was the fact that they were out of SO many things...on a weekend night at that! At least 3-4 drink items, a salad sauce, etc.etc. Made me think that they were a bit slack and/or not doing very good (budgeting?). Hopefully next time around, they'll be better stocked with all the items on the menu? Our waitress seemed a bit stressed (overwhelmed?), but she did fine...in that everything arrived in a timely manner. Overall, I liked the place. Somehow, I expected NOT to like it (possibly because of the lukewarm ratings on Yelp?)...but I stand corrected!

Grouper

Visited this place for the first time just recently and enjoyed my lunch. The service was a little slow being that there weren't many people but with all the staffing problems you hear in the hospitality world it didn't bother me. My meal was delicious and I hope they keep the quality and deliciousness of the grouper appetizer on the menu.

Nasty Traditional Wings - 6 Wings
Laura B.

Food and Service just beyond horrible. Bar only had about 6 ppl seated. Wings were nasty and I never received my fries & my glass of water showed up after I asked for my check. Eventually I got up and left and took a couple of their customers with me across the street to Fish Market.

Patty melt (half eaten already haha)

Service was great and the food came quick! We had the happy hour truffle fries which were great. The patty melt (pictured) was delicious. We also had one of the burgers that was great!

Great brunch, cheap mimosas and BBQ sushi is unreal! Very impressed by the double stacked chicken sandwich. Will definitely be back and am shocked we haven't heard about this place before.

Blackened chicken tacos and Mac & Cheese!

Very good but portions are a bit on the small side for the price. The blackened chicken tacos are delicious, staff was attentive and good at their job!!

Rooftop and drinks

I had to leave another review for The Lucky Duck ! I recently attended a yelp elite event and I loved all the choices of dishes they had us try . The drinks were not only strong but really good . Cute spot for hanging out with friends after work for drinks or happy hour . They have a rooftop as well and the inside is super plush .

Why yes! I'll take a large mimosa please and thank you!
Amanda W.

Came here for a Yelp event and decided to return for brunch. We wanted to eat on the rooftop but it doesn't open until 5, so instead we ate on the patio. On Sundays they have $3 and $5 mimosas. I ordered the large mimosa which was really good and I'm almost sure it was made with freshly squeezed orange juice. I ordered the cheese grits with the pull pork and kale. Let me tell you! The flavor of that bowl touched ever last one of my taste buds! It was simply amazing! It's safe to say my husband and I have found a new brunch spot. Thank you Yelp for introducing us to the Lucky Duck! They've gained two more customers!

Good food and service. If you're looking for solid bar food a good option! We sat on the patio for our puppy. Drinks were okay.

First Watch was a place I hadn't been to yet so we gave it a try. We arrived around noon but it was barely half full at that time. We were seated quickly but unfortunately we sat there for quite a while before a waitress finally showed up. Seating was good. Lots of half booth/table and chairs. On to the food! We ordered the million dollar bacon to go with our french toast with a berry compote and the biscuits with turkey sausage gravy and eggs. The bacon was amazing! Sweet with a bit of spice to it. My challah bread french toast was good but not as custardy as I'm used to with french toast. The berry compote was great with it. We were given a warm bottle of syrup to use which I love but I wish the bottle was clean before being put in front of me. There was a buttery smug probably from the last users. Mom's eggs and biscuit was great according to her. Food was ten outta ten but the service was slow to non-existent. PS: I ate the hard cooked eggs the first two visits but three strikes and you're out! PSS: the runner that delivered our breakfast apologized & admitted this happens "all the time"! Sounds like a management problem.

No, I did not try to get medium prime rib. THAT is a losing proposition, so I settled for a 12 ounce chili crusted ribeye steak ($38.95), with loaded baked potato, mushrooms and onions and a side BLT wedge salad...I was happy. Wife and one of our three neighbors had 7 ounce filet steaks ($38.95 each), one with blue cheese/Composaldo (?) poured over it. The guy neighbor had a 10 ounce Garlic Sirloin ($28.95). Two bottles of a red blend at $39 each helped it all go down. Another great Firebird's experience. Of course, we will return.

It can get quite busy and loud, so it's not the best place for an intimate conversation, and reservations can sometimes be difficult to get. That said, it's absolutely worth it. The menu changes regularly, so I try to visit whenever they announce a new one. Yesterday, we shared several small plates. The bacon-wrapped dates were phenomenal. I almost ordered a second serving before realizing we still had four other dishes coming! The chicken and waffles definitely satisfied my craving--crispy, savory, and full of flavor. The mushroom ravioli was also outstanding. We finished with the stuffed calamari, which reminded me of something my mom used to make when I was younger. It wasn't Asian-inspired like hers, but the concept brought back some wonderful memories. To top it all off, I enjoyed a delicious dessert while feeling pleasantly tipsy from the evening. I'd call that a win!

He was very pleasant as he got us some drinks as we looked over this new to us menu. He also brought out some hushpuppies for free with butter and they were hot and yummy! We both actually chose to try their pulled pork but I got the fries and mom paid a little extra for the rings! While we waited for our food the nice man/owner came over and explained what all the BBQ sauces where on the table and brought over a ketchup bottle that was missing. Our food did not take long at all to arrive. The fries and rings were perfectly deep fried. Our buns were toasted to perfection. The pork tasted good and they heaped a good portion on the rolls. It ate a little dry but a few squirts of the BBQ sauce and it was all good! We also got a side of coleslaw with our meals and that was tasty as well. Overall the sandwiches were very tasty and you can't beat the price. The staff was very nice and checked on us to make sure we had a great experience. The place leans heavily into a dive‑bar feel, and it's very clear this is a locals' hangout. Despite the "Grill" in the name, it definitely reads more bar than restaurant. That said, the manager (owner?) was extremely friendly and welcoming, which set a nice tone for the visit. We split a pepperoni pizza, and it was genuinely very good. I can comfortably recommend. Just be aware of the setup: you order and pay for food at a counter, and if you want an alcoholic drink, you have to go to the bar and pay separately. Not a dealbreaker, but a little clunky. The beer selection was decent, though nothing that really stood out. There's indoor seating, outdoor seating, and bar seating, so you've got options depending on the mood. Overall, Crossroads has its charms, especially if you're into a strong neighborhood‑bar atmosphere, but it's not quite a destination spot for dinner night out.
