The first indication that told me the service was great, was when I ran into a long-time patron (will keep his name out of my review out of respect for his privacy) who educated me on which rods to get and how to fish when he didn't have to. Not only ended up getting an amazing rod, which my wife already caught fish on, but an amazing Daiwa baitcasting reel. I was having an issue with my Stratic - it was going into reverse every few turns. Didn't matter if switch was on or off. I handed it to one of the employees there and explained to him what was happening. I handed it to him and he started to turn it himself and said ,"oh yeah ,that's not good!" so I went ahead and dropped it off-assuming they will fix it. I got it back a month later and went out to Diamond Valley. First cast.....same problem. I went in a few days ago to buy some stuff and ask them to look up my account to see what exactly they did to my reel. They told me they had replaced two bearings. WTF!!! There were no words of anti-reverse or reel handle going backwards after a few terms on the work order or notes. So I looked up some YouTube videos and fixed it myself..... I should've did that to begin with! If you have a real that needs to be fixed try fixing it yourself or take it somewhere else. DO NOT TAKE IT TO THESE CLOWNS!!!!!! read more

Maybe the best tackle shop in Southern California and that's a bold statement when you consider the handful of excellent bait and tackle shops around. Just an immense selection of everything you could ever want, hard to find products, endless variety of terminal tackle, lures, reels, the most rods I've ever seen in a single place, solid customer service, apparel and boxes, boots, shoes, you name it. Truly Disneyland for the fisherman. While I prefer my local shops like Ketcham and Mahi, I love to stop by Longfin to browse and buy, and quite often, they'll have items that are and have been out of stock at my regular shops. I came to one of their company sales to pick up 2 Shimano Ocea reels. I drove over an hour each way to be there. Unfortunately they were out of stock when I got there. I was one of the first people in the store so I don't know how they could have sold out before I got there. I asked to speak with the store manager (Eric) and he jumped to make the situation right. This place has a lot of different tackle and prices are okay at best, but they do have the selection. I come here to stock up on my weekly fishing need since I live close. But today I over heard some yelling and it was the old caucasian guy who works here being racist to an older asian shopper asking him if he ate dogs and gave happy endings. The Longfin was introduced to me by a friend who enjoys fishing. Like my friend, The Longfin's dedication to being a fine tackle shop and embodiment for a fisherman is an understatement. It's simply a wonderous Disneyland for sport fishers. If you're curious about this place - just come and check it out. It's big and has a lot of supplies in comparison to other shops. It's also easily accessible to the 55 off Chapman. Eric, Matt and Cole have been very helpful. I came in to trade in an unused Penn Battle II reel that I had been gifted, and they provided a value. I got some items, but after coming home I noted that Matt forgot to provide me store credit. D'oh! I called and came back in to see that Cole delivered the store credit/refund option and all of it settled. He also spent a great deal of time to help me understand differences between rods - namely the Calstars Grafighters, iRod Kaimana, Phenix Axis, Phenix Black Diamonds. I realized what I liked, something more parabolic with tips that were lighter. It was fun! While doing more research and looking for a versatile rod I've learned about the sizing I'd like for future purchases, along with learning about Shimano equipment. This place is the best. We came in on a Sunday and Felipe took such great care of us. He's is so knowledgeable and kind. Super happy to always go there for all my fishing needs. First want to say this place is stocked with all the things an angler will need and the staff are very knowledgeable. The selection in my opinion is great. The only issue I have was I purchased a Shimano reel with a Phinx rod which I was told was a great match but while on a 2 day the reel clamp bolts fell off because they where to small for the Rod! Took it back and the first time they wouldn't replace the screws with a proper size the second time I went in they found the proper screws that I had to purchase along with another $1200 purchase wow would have been a good opportunity to make me right but they didn't! I was looking for a local fishing store and Longfin came up as the top rates store. I decided to check it out. The store itself is the biggest fishing store that I have ever been in (not that I have been in a lot). As I am pretty new to fishing, I felt pretty lost. I knew what I was there for; however, I wanted to browse and see what else they had. I went in on a Saturday and it was packed! Some people had on masks, others didn't. I don't knock the store for this and my score doesn't reflect it at all. It's just an observation with the current pandemic. As far as the merchandise, the prices were pretty fair. They had a ton of lures, rods, reels, etc. They make a place like Bass Pro Shop look like a total joke. I didn't get to the second floor, so I don't even know what was up there (clothes maybe?). You can probably get most things cheaper on Amazon or at Wal-Mart; however, I feel like supporting a local store is much better! My only negative point would be their Customer Service. Unless you waited in line to ask someone for help, there was no one to help when I was in the store. I didn't; however, hold this against them in my score. I was still greeted by name from the manager, Eric. It's so popular, you're bound to run into friends and folks you saw on local boats or lakes while shopping here. They really know their stuff at The Longfin--what works with what, what to use on whatever fresh or salt species that you're targeting, and much more. They're even kind enough to spool up your reel with line you brought in. I found some Power Pro I bought years ago somewhere or won in a raffle, and they spooled me up while I did my other shopping. Just don't abuse that service and bring in 6 reels with line from somewhere else unless you're buying a lot of other stuff from them.
