Walked through their parking lot last year on my way into shop at the store, I lived next door and thought it would be the best place to buy some temporary flooring for my new apartment. The owner came out to yell at me for walking on their private driveway! I let her know I was her neighbor and wasn't trying to cause any trouble, in fact wanted to shop there. Instead of apologizing, the adult daughter came out and threatened me! She literally tried to fight me!?! I wanted to wait until I moved to share this experience as I was truly worried about my safety. Would absolutely not recommend shopping here. I prefer to support a family business than a chain store, but this family is more than rude, they're unhinged. Also, if you walk past the store, their untethered dog will come and bark at the door and lunge. The whole lot of them need a good trainer. read more

We kept our dollars local, right in our community, working with skilled professionals Jeannette & Rob who run this family small-business. We couldn't be happier with the entire experience. We love LOVE the finished product ! At a perfectly reasonable price too. Owner Jeannette is patient, kind, tactful, wise, knowledgeable, & even tried to turn herself inside-out when our painter put a late obstacle into our schedule. She presented us with many beautiful carpet samples that we pawed for many months, deciding on colors, textures, etc. After all, we were re-carpeting our main living space + lengthy staircase which are very, very prominent in our home. On The Big Day, Robert & his staff arrived slightly before schedule, worked non-stop ~ on the hottest day of the year, did a 100% fabulous installation job & left our house ~ perfectly on time ~ clean as a whistle ! I am very happy with my new carpet! The best decision I made choosing The Longest Yard, thanks to Yelpers reviews! I had originally paid The Home Depot to measure and quote for my carpets. However, when I got the quote, the measurements were wrong - in their favor! I went into the store and got the run around. Not knowing where to go, I searched yelp and found TLY. I called and went in and picked a rug I liked, they came same day and measured and the quote was less expensive than THD. I gave a deposit and had my rugs installed in three days!! Not only did they move the furniture, they cut the doors at no additional cost! My son keeps telling me how he loves the carpet! I purchased a home in September and was looking for carpeting on my wood stairs. I called a few places and they all seemed very robotic and sales driven. I was about to give up and use stair threads via self installation. My last phone call was to the Longest Yard! I spoke to Jeanette, and I immediately knew I was in good hands. She sent Bob, her husband and owner, over my home within 24 hours. Bob came over and was super helpful and patient,as he showed me examples and gave me ideas. What a delightful buying experience. Last year I renovated my kitchen but hesitated doing the floor since it was in excellent condition. It however did not match the renovation. I wanted to deal locally and so I went to the Longest Yard. I was pleasantly surprised at the professional, non pushy helpfulness of Jeanette. She allowed me to take many samples home to make my decision. Robert installed both the flooring as well as carpeting in my rear stairwell. The kitchen is now complete and looks terrific. I ventured outside my hometown and found a store where I was not passed off but given complete attention by the owner. Nothing wrong with shopping " local" but this was a more personal experience. Even with unforeseen circumstances I was kept apprised and satisfied If prices are comparable go to The Longest Yard where no amount of pressure distracts them from providing incredible service. Boy ol Boy where do I start? I first called and Jeannette thought i was a telemaketer because i was an out of state phone number but thank goodness she picked up. I was looking for a commercial floor for my business in Montclair and i had quite of few demands based on the chemicals we clean with and so on and Jeannette and Robert made all the phone calls to the manufacturers to put my mind at ease and to select the best floor for my business. We agreed on a price and a few weeks later Robert ripped our old floor out, layed new sub floor and installed the new. Powerhouse Tattoo in Montclair has a beautiful new look thanks to Jeannette and Robert and we couldnt be happier! Not only did we get a new floor but we made some great new friends! read more

First visit to the store, was greeted with a warm welcoming smile, not a cha-ching smile. The woman who took care of me was very helpful and not quick to sell me the most expensive flooring in the place. She also was able to give me a rough estimate of what my carpeting needs would add up to, and I must say it was a good value. She kindly ordered me a few samples that she had mail to my home so I can really see how it will work. As of now 5 stars. Will follow up after completion of my job. read more

I collected estimates from several flooring contractors and I chose The Longest Yard because they were patient with me, helped me understand what I should be looking for in flooring. Jeannette and her daughter were extremely knowledgable & educated me about flooring. They asked me questions that no one else asked. They asked about the average temperature in the room, what the room is used for, the sub-flooring, and the location where the flooring will go in my house. It was a real education and I appreciated it very much. I want to know what I'm getting for my money, and they made it easy to evaluate each option and helped me narrow down my choices until I was sure about it. I was especially concerned about how the floor would be and sound underfoot. I trusted their advice and I FREAKING LOVE MY FLOOR! Also, the floor was installed in one day.
