Insulation was removed and never replaced, saying "we're not insulators". Prices were not disclosed, saying it would increase cost to do so. Was sold special-order storm doors without my knowledge, so I couldn't get a refund! Months after final payment I discovered outlets wired to the wrong circuit breaker box and had to call them back for re-work. On the good side, they rightly stood up to building inspector to widen doorway. Overall, most work was well done, even if it was deeply frustrating with little accounting given for expenses. FYI: Don't let them talk their way out of providing references of work on comparable properties first..

Karl was very quick to respond to our concerns and made sure the project stayed on track and the work was completed to our standards. He took the time to recommend places to visit to help us pick out the finishes (flooring, tile, etc.) and worked with us to get exactly what we wanted. He was also able to fix a closet door, a sliding pocket-door and install some cabinets in the laundry that we had purchased (in addition to the bathroom project). Highly recommend Beckman Builders!

First experience, I was cursed at and given a lesson on what happens to dirt that gets rained on. This was quite informative although quite rude. I needed dirt when it dried not immediately. Needless to say I went elsewhere and was treated like a customer. Now the second time, I did not get cursed at and ordered up the dirt, which I knew would be wet again but announced upon order it had a weeks time to dry if the forecast stuck and supposedly that would work out fine. The day of delivery comes and no dirt. I call. Now this call goes about as well as my first experience, and I'm told I wont get dirt until after the weekend , as if I I were just now ordering this dirt that should already be in my yard because they are too busy. This is why I called ahead of time. Well I had sod coming in on Saturday so thank you very much for the heads up. Now its short notice for anyone else, but I found a way. I cant believe this business has made it this far treating day to day business this way. Never again will I come to this place or anyone associated to them. Found out they were also priced higher then anyone else, so there was a bit of a silver lining. Horrible business. Literally the worst and most unprofessional, unreliable establishment. They admitted that they did not have enough experience to diagnose the issue, and needed to have their boss come out to take a look and would charge us, not only for their time and not being able to diagnose the problem, but an additional cost to have the boss come out for a look and diagnosis. We chose to end things there and go with another company. However, even after speaking with the boss and him admitted no services were provided by not being able to even diagnose the problem, we were still charged over $250 for nothing. We are at square one and are going with another company who has guaranteed a diagnosis or there will be no charge. The techs who came out were extremely nice and hard working. I do not fault them for what has happened. I 100% fault the owner and the terrible business practices they have. If someone more experienced had to come after the first techs, but did not charge an additional fee for their own inexperience, I would have gladly paid. Save yourself a lot of time & money - I would highly suggest going elsewhere. PLEASE read other one star reviews because they are EXACTLY what we experienced.

No matter how complicated, numerous or detailed our requests were, he said no problem with a smile. He helped customize a stone & beam fireplace plus beautifully installed old barn wood throughout the building. My wife is a high-end interior designer who is used to working on multimillion dollar homes and I actually felt sorry for Chris having to answer all of the detailed questions she kept asking. Surprisingly we both still liked one another by the end of the project. If you want to micromanage your builder and need immediate return phone calls, Chris will frustrate you. The project we did remodeled a huge section of our kitchen and dining room building a second story even. They helped us through every step of the project. From the initial design estimates, to iterating on our ideas and providing feedback, to helping select trims and finish, and then building the entire extension. They were always patient with us when we needed more time to think about the project, but they were always immediately responsive when we needed their input. They are certainly a premium contractor, but for a project of that scale, it was not something that we could have ever hoped to accomplish on our own. It certainly made sense for us to pick a excellent contractor who would be prepared for every scenario. And that is what we got with Frey. With a project of this size, I think common knowledge would cause the average person to assume that there would be substantial delays and setbacks. but the entire time we worked with Frey, there from the day they broke ground to the day it was done, they didn't slip a single deadline. Their staff was always incredibly professional. The subcontractors that they worked with were top notch. You could tell that the people who were here working on our home really cared about the project and wanted to make it good and make it right, and they would redo parts of it if they weren't done correctly. we really appreciated the attention to detail. There were many times when I thought that they went above and beyond to help make the remodeling project go smoothly. Notably, they helped move all of our appliances and counter surfaces into our living room so that we could continue to live out of our living room while our entire kitchen was being demoed and remodeled. It wasn't work that they needed to do, but they were more than happy to help. If we ever needed to do another large scale remodeling project, they would be the first people we would call.
