After extensive research and meetings with other builders, we selected Classic to build our home in…read more2012. We were not disappointed! Here are some comments about Classic's results/performance in several key areas: Quality: This may be where Classic made the greatest impression with us. Brian and the entire team set very high standards for quality, and it shows in their results. This includes high quality materials and craftsmanship, and valuable consultation with decisions. On numerous occasions, they helped steer us towards great style and other decisions that will ensure our long term satisfaction. We regularly receive compliments from friends and family about our home, and Classic deserves a lot of the credit. Communication: We had a true sense of partnership with Classic, and they did a great job keeping us updated along the way. Like many people in our situation, we were nervous and had lots of questions. Classic was responsive and consistently put our minds at ease. Cost/Budget: The process of putting together bids and cost estimates was very easy, and Classic provided accuracy and transparency throughout. The final cost was exactly what we expected, and it was less than the initial bids we had received from other builders. Schedule: Classic did a great job adhering to the planned schedule (which they shared with us along the way), and our home was completed in less than 4 months. Not only that, but we needed a place to live during construction (our previous house sold quicker than expected), and Classic provided us with a flexible arrangement at one of their rental properties. Standing Behind Their Work: In any construction project project, there will be things that didn't quite go as planned or that need follow-up work. A good measure of a service provider is how they handle these occurrences. We had a couple minor things (quality of work from a couple of the sub-contractors) that needed attention and Brian took care of everything quickly and at no extra cost. All in all, we were (and still are) extremely satisfied with our decision to have Classic build our home. We would definitely build with them again, and recommend them to anyone we know who is thinking about building a new home.

We built a Classic Custom Homes (CCH) house in the Lake Wisconsin area that was started in the fall…read moreof 2016 and finished in early 2017. We actually live in Maryland, and went back-and-forth to Wisconsin during the design and building of our home. We selected CCH after due diligence involving the opinions of local real estate agents, looking at an in-progress CCH home and asking questions of the future owners, attending the Madison area Parade of Homes, and checking out a completed spec home with Jennie (the builder's wife) in the Kilkenny Farms development just outside of Waunakee. Jennie really helped us decide on CCH, as she just seemed confident, knowledgeable, and above all, credible. The design process went well, as Brandon was both talented and easy to work with. Building a home is never stress-free, and this house was no exception. 2016 was the wettest year in Wisconsin history, and so the job site was extremely muddy. This made everything more difficult, starting with the ground and driveway being too soft for a cement truck to drive on. With the cement truck having to stay on the main road, cement for the foundation was delivered via "pump" system, which delivers cement via a series of long pipes. The "pump" system was a cost overrun, but given the operating environment, it was unavoidable. When the home was completed, it was not difficult to have the few "punch list" items corrected. Our completed house is everything we had hoped for: beautiful, well-made, and energy-efficient. We still live in Maryland, but plan to move to Wisconsin soon. We were away this past winter, and when we got to our CCH house this summer for the first time in about 8-9 months, we had a wet basement. Thus was likely due to a particularly brutal winter, with heavy snow and then a sudden thaw, and compounded by our not being here to keep snow away from the house. With our insurance company ruling that this was caused by "ground water", our claim was dismissed. However, Bryan of CCH has helped out a lot, first sending out a crew to remove wet carpeting, drywall, and trim, and then scheduling a crew for final remediation. Since our house was completed over two years ago, and we were absent for the entire winter, we are more than grateful for the assistance of CCH. Bryan can be blunt, it is true, but in my view he is also honest and helpful. We are at an age where we may never build another house, but if we do, it will be with Classic Custom Homes. Without reservation, I recommend this builder to anyone.

S P 1 review…read more Service: Roof installation Critical: Professionalism If I could give a negative star I'd give five negative stars for poor business conduct.. In 2021 Mid Town did approximately 58,000 of roof work on our Condos. In 2022, I became the Treasurer of my HOA. I realized that the Management Company whom did the Contracting with Cory as our Agent, refused to disclose all financial records to the board. After many back and forth, she sent me an assessment for one building when we had roofing done on two complex. While dealing with the Management Company I decided to reach out to Corey the owner. I explained to him my situation, and why I am requesting records, preparing for an audit. He said he would need to talk to the Management Company first. I gave him permission to verify my position on the board with the Management Company as well. The next day when Corey and I touch base again, he told me he will only disclose records with the Management Company. I ask Corey if he could give me his email so I can have my lawyer correspond with him. His exact words are, "I will give you nothing!" I am not upset that Corey is making sure he doesn't breach contract, I am upset that he completely refused my offer to find a way through my legal council to make sure we both are acting within our legal abilities to exchange information. It is pretty disheartening to think that our HOA funds went to give this man business and he has no qualms about treating me, the actual customer that funded him so disrespectfully and refusing to cooperate after he has our payment. Update: I didn't get the information directly from Mid Towne, the Management company sent me some copy of records to include two checks paid to Mid Towne. One was "hand written" for $14,000 and not recorded in quick book. Worst was that the cost was reported to us as 56,000 but the record shows it was 58,484 that was paid out. Not only that, when I finally retrieve the BID with a demand letter from my lawyer and a huge argument with the Management company, the record shows that we took the highest BID for a lesser value roof (25-30 yrs) compared to the other two companies (50 yr value for 51,000). Turns out, that our Management company and Mid Towne has known each other for "20 years" and highly regards and respects each other. Corey sent me a bogus letter from his lawyer to demand I take my review down or he will sue me. So my lawyer sent Corey a letter of "record preservation" I will update later as new developments happens.

The roof was installed without proper venting and although our insurance co wasn't willing to cover it Corey worked with us to come up with a price for a roof replacement that worked for both of us. Corey was extremely good at communicating (easy to get ahold of and if you didn't get through called you back right away), was honest, kind, courteous, performed top-quality work and was reasonable both in cost and speed of job completion. We replaced our 3 skylights with him too and met an amazing drywaller/painter through him too! We will never work with anyone else for any roofing or skylight needs! Corey is simply the best. They don't make them like Corey anymore. Book him if you're looking for an honest roofer/remodeler/construction co without the run around.

Carpenter was rude in my own home! Messes were left. Workers walked out unexpectedly, without warning or calling management. Seemed like they did not like working on older homes. Insulation was removed and never replaced, saying "we're not insulators". Prices were not disclosed, saying it would increase cost to do so. Was sold special-order storm doors without my knowledge, so I couldn't get a refund! Months after final payment I discovered outlets wired to the wrong circuit breaker box and had to call them back for re-work. On the good side, they rightly stood up to building inspector to widen doorway. Overall, most work was well done, even if it was deeply frustrating with little accounting given for expenses. FYI: Don't let them talk their way out of providing references of work on comparable properties first..

Swita Metal Roofing…read more I rarely leave a review but felt it was necessary. We are a middle/later aged couple who debated between asphalt and a metal roof. Understand that not all meatal roofs are (3' x long lengths) sheets that look like long sheets of roofing. Nothing wrong with that but SMR sells and installs metal roofing that looks like traditional shingle/shaker roofing......but it lasts forever! Literally, "The last roof you'll ever need". Mike's crew of 7 men; (yes subcontracted), were on time, courteous, and worked 3 hard 14+ hour days as they raced the weather. Communication was never an issue and they let me know every day when they were going to be there and what they were going to try to accomplish that day. We were amazed how smooth this went as storms wandered through! We left our doors open as we got a 'good feel' from their lead that they were trustworthy from the moment they showed up. I'm not sure if they used our bathrooms, etc but if so, they left it cleaner than they found it if they did! Awesome, awesome group of guys with a great sense of humor! Our trust was not misplaced! Mike checked with us everyday.... many, many times ... to make sure everything was going well. Honestly, he was so concerned and between Mike, Mary and Jose, it was kinda overkill. To be fair, I got the feeling before we bought that this is the type of company they run, so if you go with them, expect a fair amount of contact from beginning to end. I am so frickin happy with our new roof! My better half is ecstatic with our new roof. The best part is it truly the 'Last roof we'll ever need'.... unless we have a tornado.
