One of the more disappointing dining experiences I've ever had. We visited last night for our first time and our last time, unfortunately. Decided to try something new and took my father-in-law there for his birthday. We had reservations for 6:30pm and as we arrived, a large bus full of 50 college hockey players also arrived. It took us over 30 minutes to have somebody take our drink order and another 15 minutes for those drinks to arrive. We were seated with a happy hour menu, which was over and I had to ask the bartender for a drink menu and wine list. My water glass was very dirty and nobody ever came by the table in 90 minutes to refill our water. We were seated right next to the bar too. We were continually informed by our waitress and a barback that things were slow due to the large party in the other room. After 90 minutes passed and we still had not received our food, we asked to speak to the manager. When the manager came to our table, she did not introduce herself, so we had to assume she was the manager. Rather than own the mistake, she proceeded to throw our waitress under the bus. Our waitress was great and doing the best she could, but the restaurant was severely understaffed. They offered us free bread. We finally decided to get up and walk out and leave without being served our food. The manager chased us out the front door to bring our food in to-go boxes and as we were leaving, the entire hockey team was also leaving and getting back on their bus. So in the time we arrived for our reservation and after 90 minutes without being served, they came, ate and left. We were told this was a learning moment for her waitress, however, should be a learning moment for management to staff appropriately or just close the restaurant down to feed 50+ hockey team members. This is our fourth stop of our pub crawl. It was our dessert stop. We selected strawberry shortcake and chocolate cake. Both of which were excellent. The strawberry shortcake was sort of a deconstructed strawberry shortcake with the chocolate cake being served elegantly and in an Aesthetically pleasing presentation. We sat them out on the patio and saw a beautiful sunset. Service was quick efficient and pleasant. Highly recommend. read more

We've been dining here every few months since they opened, and it's become one of our favorite restaurants in Windsor. The food has consistently been excellent--my wife loves the sirloin pasta, and I always enjoy the filet. The staff has even surprised us with a complimentary dessert or drink on a special occasion, which was a thoughtful touch. Over all of our visits, we've only had one experience that wasn't near perfect, which says a lot about their consistency. On our latest visit we arrived about 5-10 minutes early for our reservation and were seated just a few minutes after our reservation time. Overall, we continue to have great experiences and look forward to coming back. read more

We made reservations for a Friday night and were seated immediately. Everything about the experience reads lodge including their lovely fireplace , wood beams and antlers over the bar. The staff were welcoming and attentive the entire night. The atmosphere made For the perfect date night. My wife and I both had the 9oz fillet which were cooked perfectly. We'll be back. read more

We came here for our 25th anniversary with a reservation and requested a table for two by the window. After driving 90 minutes and arriving early, we found no host at the front desk--just a sign instructing us to wait. Ten minutes later the host arrived. We reiterated our reservation and special occasion, and again requested a window table. She said she needed to prep it, then returned five minutes later--only to take a phone call, wave us off, and disappear. While we stood waiting, another party without a reservation (a dad and his young daughter) was seated immediately by a different staff member. When the host finally resurfaced, she mentioned the AC was broken and led us to a four-top in the middle of the restaurant. It was uncomfortably hot, and the window table for two we had reserved had already been given to walk-ins. When we asked about a shady corner table by the window, we were told it was held for "a guest with a reservation." I thought that's what we were. After 20 minutes of waiting--on our anniversary--we left. It was clear our special occasion wasn't going to be special here, and frankly, sitting in a hot, airless dining room wasn't appealing either. Fortunately, we found another restaurant nearby that welcomed us warmly, served excellent food, kept the AC running, and ensured our 25th anniversary was memorable in all the ways The Lodge failed to. read more

It was a busy Friday night and the food was very good. However, the service was awful. They forgot half of what we ordered. Food came out before drinks couldn't get our drinks. Had to ask the manager multiple times ended up with a very snotty comment from the manager, saying what's the matter do you not go out on a Friday night very often because this is what it looks like to the extent that we were infuriated... I don't know who this manager is but at this point, I would not recommend her to continue operating their business based on that behavior the poor waitress was trying to make up for the manager's bad behavior and comments. I hope that they look into her situation thoroughly. read more

Reservation at 6:30. Hated our table. Blinding sunshine and fans causing a wind storm. Got moved to a better table. Waited 20 minutes for a server. Another 20 minutes to get a drink. Almost an hour to get dinner. Salad came out with dinner instead of before, as requested. Twenty more minutes for another round of drinks. Dinner finally arrives with cold potatoes, tough filet and raw scallops. Server took $35 off for scallops. Dinner for three was $365! Never again! read more

This place is a great place to come have a drink and watch the sun set. The bar staff are amazing. This review is for the food. This is the first and last time I will order food here. If I'm down drinking I'll go downstairs to the Sand Bar and get the chicken strips. Ordered the $52 Filet(rump roast) whatever I got. It was tough without much flavor. Great restaurant! Saw the previous reviews and my interest was piqued. My wife and I had dinner last night. Ambiance and decor was nice and welcoming. Plenty of servers and our water never got empty. We had a couple of cocktails which were great. My wife had the Octopus and I had the Zabuton steak. The octopus was about the best we've ever had. Sides with this were fantastic. My steak was a little small and a bit overcooked but the sauce was delicious and sides were huge so I didn't go hungry. Then we shared the olive oil cake and shared a limoncello. Overall it was. This is probably one of the best restaurants in Northern Colorado. The food is on par with a big city like Chicago or LA. The meal was absolutely delicious. I got the pork chop - delicious. My husband got the short rib stroganoff - insane. We got the brioche and tallow app and that was just off the chain. It had no business being that wonderful. And for the price? Unbelievable. Our waiters Archer and Antonio were knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. They gave us recommendations for a full bodied wine, with black cherry and complex fruit flavors with a velvety finish. We started with a beautiful Roasted Beet Carpaccio, then a delicious Wild Mushroom Soup and for our entree a Chilean Sea Bass. The Sea Bass was light and flaky with delicious, complementary sauces. There was a light over out table with a clear bulb that was blinding. There biggest issue is everything takes forever! Drinks take forever. We had half our table receive food and then waited another almost 10 minutes for the rest. So odd! We asked to be in the restaurant, never been here before. We asked the waitress about the Pork Loin and she said it was tender and juicy so we ordered it. It was not tender or juicy. It was also hard to cut with the knives that were provided. Would suggest they remove this from the menu. Our friends ordered the Salmon and said it was very good. The views were outstanding and service was great. The pork loin was not good. Had a party of seven that went tonight for New Year's Eve dinner. The remodeled restaurant looks great, they put a lighter stain on the log walls and it brightened up and modernized it a lot. The menu is not extensive, but it is enough for most everyone. The oysters were good, but the presentation of the sauces could have been better and some small forks would have been appreciated. The tallow candle was unusual and outstanding, highly recommended. Three people got the scallops and raved about them. One got the sirloin and it was "OK". One liked the crab spaghetti, I got the stroganoff, it was flavorful, but had too much sauce and not enough mushrooms. Some sour cream on top would have given it some good stroganoff tang. Our server was great, but she really lacked support from the bus staff. The manager needs to be more present and making sure things flow smoothly. Too long to get drinks, too long for dirty plates to be bussed. Servers need training on how to serve, and take orders if they want this to be a fine dining restaurant. The price point was reasonable for today's climate. read more

What a great evening at The Lodge. First time in and I was impressed with every detail. First of all what a beautiful place. The decor was definitely warm and classy, each area was very welcoming. I chose to sit at the bar as I often do when I am alone because conversation often ensues. On this particularly cold Tuesday evening, great conversation came from the bartender (Archie), the bar manager (Alex) and towards the end of the night, I even got to personally speak to and complement the new executive chef (Cole). My enjoyment wasn't simply from having people to talk to, I was guided through my selections from wine to my appetizers and how they paired well together. The Pork Belly was a welcome surprise and prepared and presented in a way that I haven't seen before. The nice sized portion led me to another appetizer instead of an entree and I am so glad it did. The Elk Carpaccio was FANTASTIC. Chef Cole's upgrade on a previous recipe won me over. Alex tasted me on a couple different Pinot Noir's to pair with the carpaccio and I think we both learned something in the process. Thanks for the personal touch Alex. The server seemed either distracted or in a hurry, took our plate of pork belly appetizer without asking & before we were done, then twice left while we were still speaking to her. They were out of one of the drink options and also the steak entree, replacements were ok. Short ribs excellent, duck was good.
