**DO NOT BOOK YOUR NEXT EVENT HERE, WHATSOEVER!** We booked a corporate event through the hotel, and went through three different Event Directors in the less than two months planning the event. The turnover rate should have raised enough of a flag. The customer service at this establishment should be better categorized as what you get using a port-a-potty. The private rooms we were provided for our guest had little to zero air conditioning. Several of our guests waited 60 minutes or more to get their cars from the valet. And to top it off, the concierge who was directed to mail out something lost the item and failed to ship it, amounting to a $750 loss on our end. Our guests staying in the hotel had to wait excess of 45 minutes to receive clean linens when calling down to the front desk. The entire hotel is a joke! Hire people who understand hotel management, who understand hospitality, who actually want to work with integrity, or go work somewhere else! You won't last long at this rate! read more

Cannot rave enough about The Line. My friend and I ate both upstairs and downstairs in one night since it was her birthday and she wanted to try out both places. This is definitely the new "it" place in town. The transformation from a church to a space with several bars and restaurants is pure genius. Now, to the food: In the upstairs restaurant (A Rake's Progress), we had exceptional meat, chicken and fish dishes. There were four of us and we decided to sample everything. The wine steward selected a superb Sauvignon Blanc. All items, from the bread to appetizers to the entrees were 5 stars. Downstairs, it was more casual (Brothers and Sisters) but great for drinks and small dishes. Perfect for birthdays (on a separate night, I met a friend at the bar). Great people-watching. Finally, a note about the service overall: Excellent! read more

Just want to start off by saying I've actually never written a negative review before. However, the Customer Service I just received was so horrible, I strongly feel the need to warn others. I booked a room for family members traveling from New York state this upcoming Friday, but given the Coronavirus outbreak, their transportation has been cancelled. I called Expedia to explain the situation, and they were extremely understanding - as this is A VERY COMMON request right now given the unknowns of the virus. Expedia called the hotel several times on my behalf to cancel and receive a refund, which the hotel refused to do. I called myself several times, and after speaking to a manager (named Sam), he cut me short and said there was nothing he could do, and that this is beyond his control. No refund, not even an offer to reschedule, NOTHING. Considering the WHO just declared the Coronavirus outbreak a PANDEMIC, I would expect some level of understanding or flexibility. The spread of coronavirus is also outside OUR control. I personally don't want to give my money to an establishment that values profits over safety and tries to capitalize on the situation. For anyone reading this review, please don't make the same mistake I made. There are PLENTY of hotels in the DC area that are more accommodating. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU BOOK A HOTEL ROOM ELSEWHERE. I refuse to give my business to this establishment ever again. read more

I found most aspects of my stay at this hotel disappointing. First of all, the bathrooms all have see through doors, so if you are staying in a regular suite you can't reasonably expect to have privacy while in the bathroom. Second, and this is perhaps even more annoying: The rooms are wired in such a way that in order for the lights in the bathroom to turn on, all the room lights also have to be on, thus making it impossible for a partner or suitemate to keep sleeping while the other person showers and prepares for the day. It's not possible for two people staying in the same room to maintain different schedules. More, the menu at the hotel restaurant is severely limited: no grapefruit juice, no salmon, no omelets. Lastly, the cleaning staff were not great. We didn't get enough clean towels and had to call the front desk to get more. I would never stay at this hotel again, ever. I'd rather stay at a Best Western. read more

Midday the lobby of the hotel was abuzz with nomadic professionals, office offsiters, creatives, and entwined lovers. The broadcast sound booth fish-tanked two gesturing gentlemen who were on the air. Perfect lunch in early April comprised a crispy skinned New Zealand Pacific salmon sitting atop a raft of sweet stewed onions and carrots, annointed with dill oil and fronds, with an embellishment of coins of vegetable root chips. The bartender whipped up something superbly special when I asked if he could make a Pisco Sour. I half expected Dorothy Parker's drawl to greet me from behind a curtain, as I sat clutching the stem of my glass. The best meal I've had in DC yet. I wish there were a trend of businesses open for the main meal noonish. Have my people call your people... read more

This hotel is lovely. Kind and smart and helpful people are the norm, not the exception. Tom helped us in, Gregory got us drinks, each encounter with staff here was charming and pleasant. The vibe is very chill and I think it's the people working there who keep things sweetly fun. The location is great! Security was tops. It just felt refreshing here, not like a dried up old torture hotel. Bravo The Line! read more

This former church was remodeled into a top of the line accommodation. It is not just the lap, but the kneecaps and little cotton socks of luxury, right down to the barn door hinges on the massive shower stall. I sweater gawd the floors are hypocausts, because the granite shower was warm to the touch, as were the reclaimed wood floors. The water pressure and power were impressive, even for a hotel. The decor and furnishings effectively hid the basic cube shape of the room, and every light had a dimmer. It had only two USB ports, which were two more than the Omni Shoreham, which feels like a massive step down from The Line. Cuddy and Yasmin at the front desk were incredibly warm and efficient, and the entire staff worked very hard to impress. The restaurant dishes were more ambitious than totally successful, but worth the eating because they were just that unusual. The desserts though, fervent kudos to the pastry chef, who has a dab hand with a blowtorch, too. If you need to stay in Adams Morgan, stay at The Line. You'll be glad you did. read more

We headed upstairs for the bar and had a great time! Our bartenders were quick with a good drink, friendly, and knowledgeable ( I asked random questions about the building). Make sure to check out the drink menus ahead of time... as they are a bit pricy but worth it for a nice night out. Loved the atmosphere, drinks, and staff. I only went for drinks so can't comment on how the food tastes BUT I did peek at peoples plates and it looked tasty. read more

Truly an amazing experience. The front desk staff was kind and extremely accommodating. The room was styling and very very clean. The bar and restaurant in the lobby is all around amazing. The location is walkable to any kind of restaurant or bar you could want. Will definitely be back! read more

This hotel is located in a busy and noisy area. I stayed on a Saturday night at 4th floor and can hear VERY loud music after mid night. I called the front desk to complain. The person was very RUDE denying the problem and pretended he didn't understand. I won't stay in this hotel or area ever again. It's poor managed hotel with an unfortunate location. read more

I have not stayed here (yet), so this review is based solely on my experience at Brothers & Sisters DC, which is a restaurant inside the hotel. My dining experience was in connection with a Supper Club event at the hotel. Supper Club aside, the service and food at Brother's & Sister's was delish! There's a yummy cauliflower soup which I cannot even begin to describe, so I won't, instead, I strongly suggest you try it if given the opportunity. It's sooooo good ;p The hotel bar area/lobby has an open layout, but there's ample room to accommodate large dinner parties or private corners to have private conversations over drinks. The bar area is dimly lit, so make sure your flash is on if you plan on taking selfies! read more

Everything looks great. Then you get to your room. The hallways look OK too... not the quality and caliber you're expecting based on your arrival but it's still OK. Then the room looks nice... a bit over-done stylistically for the space but still well-done. What's shocking is the total lack of service for a hotel at this price point in DC. Rude front desk, A nonexistent minibar, AC that doesn't function, being tricked into a down-graded room at the same price.... Won't be recommending this place again. Definition of smoke & mirrors. read more

Visited the hotel today for lunch at Brothers and sisters and had a lovely time. The ambiance of the hotel lobby is amazing! It really give you a out of dc feel... everyone was so friendly. Lunch was delish with a Korean twist... loved it! I can't wait to come back for drinks at the bar! read more

I live in DC so I went for brunch which was outstanding. The building is gorgeous, the history, the windows, the light...it felt like being in Church. People were very nice. So far I am impressed with The Line. My friend and I stumbled in and the staff could not be friendlier. A bubbly gentlemen greeted us at the door. The space is stunning. There are many restaurants inside. I stopped at Brothers and Sisters for coffee and cake. Coffee was normal, the cake was amazing. I got the Brooklyn- it is a chocolate cake with banana. Super light. I am rating 5 stars because the vibes were great and the staff was awesome. read more

This would be a 5 star review, if I hadn't spent months trying to get refunded an errant credit card charge. The hotel is wonderful. I got a room for my wife's birthday there so we could live it up and meet friends at A Rake's Progress for a fantastic meal. The dinner didn't disappoint, from the cocktails to the pork to the many many desserts at the end of the night. The room was comfortable and the host gave us free drink ppstcards for the birthday. That might be what led to an endless frustration. The next morning, we had brunch with a cocktail and used a complementary drink. We were asked our room number and gave it, but ultimately paid on a credit card. But, when we checked out, they had billed that charge to the room. It took a while for them to dicuss with the kitchen but they confirmed the charge was errant and they would remove it. Fast forward a few weeks and my credit card has a charge for brunch, a charge for the large dinner and an extra charge of what I recall to be the erroneous amount. I called to confirm what happened, they referred the matter to a restaurant and billing, and a free phone tag the restaurant manager took the information down and said he'd call back, he never did. So, I went back to the hotel to ask in person, after like half an hour and them proposing for a second a credit to the hotel instead of dealing with accounting (which I accepted, but the proposal was overruled by a manager), I was told they'd look into it, check to see if they could find the amount (possible I was mistaken, they could confirm with their records) and call me the next day. It's been a few more weeks, presumably they checked by now if I paid their amount I reported I thought was erroneous several times), I'm just annoyed at the place. Great food, but maybe use cash for checks and the room there if possible. read more

We tried the hotel again and, just as before, Imani Keal made the entire experience so incredibly wonderful. She is, for me, the icing on the cake that is The Line DC. We love this hotel and decided to give room service another shot and everything arrived on time and fresh and perfect. Even on St. Patrick's Day! I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Beautifully and handsomely appointed all at once. Great colors and materials in the room. Really feels like home. Wonderful service and attentive staff all around. read more

Zero stars. Went to check in at 5 pm and even though my confirmation clearly states 3 check in room was not ready. They said it was being inspected and to wait 15 minutes. 15 minutes later they admitted it actually wasn't even cleaned yet. When I stated my dissatisfaction and said we had a reservation for dinner and could not wait the manager YELLED at us!!! He said we needed to learn patience. I felt like I was being pranked. I said we were leaving and I asked them to get my car from valet. Went outside. Valet brought wrong car! Finally got correct car and left an hour later! To add insult to injury they changed my card rhe next day for the price of a room even though they guaranteed me that it had been cancelled. When I called they said I was charged for a no show! So comical. After several more phone calls the charge was reversed. Do yourself a favor and book a room literally anywhere else! read more

Since I don't frequent Adams Morgan I was completely unaware of The Line--the D.C. edition. This visit was for a meeting in hotel's main bar/restaurant. As a lover a History, I had to look up this former Church. The building dates to 1913 and costed $160,000 to build at the time. I still haven't come across too much information on when it closed and for how long. As someone that will take tea over coffee, any day of the week. I can't say that Afternoon Tea in a hotel is my thing. I'm not opposed, it just hasn't been in my wheelhouse. They didn't have Chai but the kettle of green tea was cool. A nice place to have a meeting. For some chai I would give the visit 5 Stars. p.d. I try to avoid Adams Morgan but it is cool in the day time when all the Bros and their dates and allies are in class or wherever. Since there isn't a Metro station nearby, it felt genuine. read more

The hotel itself is quite nice, built in an old church and preserving elements of the original building. Rooms were nicely done, very comfortable bed and unique decor. Staff were extremely friendly. The hotel's restaurants are wonderful. But they need to work on service and efficiency. We arrived at the hotel and pulled in to the valet parking area. It was seemingly abandoned. After standing around for a while we finally found the parking attendant and then hiked back to check in. The location of the front desk wasn't obvious. Check in took longer than it should because the desk manager - though very friendly and cheerful - kept interrupting to accept phone calls (ignoring the real live human beings in front of him). The hotel was kind enough to grant us a late checkout, which we greatly appreciated until housekeeping began pounding on our door an hour before we were to check out. Checkout was also slow because the valets lost our car. After standing around outside waiting for about 30 min they finally found it and we were on our way. Note - a bench or chairs at the valet parking area would have been nice. Another note - the hotel boasts about their beautiful rooftop garden area on their website. Except we couldn't say for sure because guests aren't allowed to go there, we were told it is reserved for private parties only. read more

Pros: Before checking in at The LINE, I made the mistake of reading reviews and was concerned by some of the bad ones however I can happily say that we really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful DC hotel. We booked via the website and got 20% off two nights stay and $25 dining credit which we enjoyed at Brothers & Sisters, the bar/restaurant in the hotel lobby. Food and wine were delicious. We had our kitty with us and were very pleased with the pet-friendliness! Staff were all super pleasant, chatty and helpful. The hotel gym is amazing too. We really enjoyed using it during our stay. The locality is gorgeous and has a Philz Coffee across the street which we were thrilled about. Uber's to the White House / touristy spots averaged $10. As for cons: Valet parking was a little expensive at $54 a night but we were willing to pay as our car was full of luggage from a long trip. The air con in our room didn't work (which many reviews mention - must be an issue throughout). Our last night we experienced unusual and very loud noises from the room above us all night long. It sounded like someone was dropping metal pipes on the floor repeatedly. Bizarre. read more

I was invited to a meet-the-farmers event that was open to the public. Within 2 minutes of entering the event I had security surrounding me forcing me to leave. Even though I complied and left their property, they called the police who detained me on the public sidewalk as I waited for a friend to leave the event. I have repeatedly reached out to the Line hotel about how I was ejected and mistreated without any explanation. They have not apologized in any way. I am shocked at how I was treated and would not recommend this hotel or any of the businesses in it. read more

The worst part of wedding planning was working with The Line. They shuffled us through multiple staff members, took up to 5 days to so much as acknowledge phone calls or emails, and reneged on promised perks. If you do use them for your event, get everything in writing as nothing they sweet talk you with will be honored. Oh, and the rooms don't have blackout shades. Beautiful space though--the only reason it doesn't get a 1-star review. read more

The room was clean and comfortable, but I experienced two issues during my stay: My bathroom had no cold water, and I was told by the front desk there was nothing they could do until I vacated my room, so I had to cope with an extremely hot shower in order to get ready for a conference. I was traveling for work and my employer is tax-exempt; despite providing the necessary paperwork (twice), my business office's credit card was charged tax upon check-out, and I needed to waste conference time while the charge was reconciled. I reached out to hotel management with my concerns about these issues but never received a response. I would not recommend this hotel to other business travelers. read more

This may be the absolute coolest & trendiest Hotel in Washington, DC. I believe it's a converted church and they did an awesome job with the concept and design. I've visited this hotel at least ten times for work and every single solitary time the front desk has been clueless! One time I went to do makeup for a bridal party and they forgot to book the bridal suite! Another time I went as a hair model for a hair brand and influencer event and the person at the front desk spent 10 minutes in front of me arguing with someone on a walkie talkie about escorting me to the event suite. I'm here today and guess what?! They have no clue about the room reserved for the client I am working with. Smh I just can't!!!! read more

Wow! Had the pleasure of visiting The LINE DC last week when they hosted the Association of Meeting Professional's Summer Bash. It's a unique venue that's definitely 5-star. The food was great, the catering and banquet staff we amazing! Richard was outstanding in banquets and Storm the bartender was great too. Hip, classy, and for just opening less than a year ago the team was in sync. Happy employees = great service and attitude! read more

I would give this business a better review but for the noise problem. They play non-stop monotonous bad "muzak" loudly, which makes it hard to have a conversation or focus on reading a book with your coffee. When I asked if they could turn the music down just a little, I was told that the employees don't have access to the system. It's a shame because it would otherwise be a very nice cafe. Because of the loud bad music, I won't be returning or taking anyone there. read more

The only reason I'm giving two stars is for the vibe and decor. I ordered a very simple drink; dirty martini. My group had been drinking them all night and we were taking turns buying each other rounds. Each time they'd pour 1 shot of liquor per martini and 2 shots of vermouth/olive juice & only fill half the martini glass. By the time it came my turn to by the drinks I called them out on the half filled martini and said it wasn't right to charge $16 for a half filled martini. That's when we all realized they had charged each round a different amount for the same exact martini. We called them out on it and he fixed the checks, but it didn't fix these cloudy margarita looking martinis. Do yourself a favor and find a bar that will make you drinks worth $16. read more

It is definitely our go-to hotel now when in town to visit our daughter. The LINE is very comfortable, the service is amazing and, the fact that it is pet friendly makes it all the more perfect for us. I agree with other reviews that the food options (selection, portions, cost) could and should be better but overall, it's not a deterrent from really enjoying the hotel. Great location. Room size is generous. Bedding is just wonderful (I wonder if they'd notice if we took it?). We have stayed 3 nights each time and the cost is very reasonable for the great experience (garage fees and taxes however are a bit of sticker shock). Looking forward to our next stay here. read more

Can't say enough about this hotel. Everyone there helped make a family wedding this weekend absolutely perfect. The food and wine were terrific, the rooms super comfortable, but the best part was the warmth of the staff. Betsy and Aman were particular standouts. Thanks, The Line DC. read more

There is a lot of good I can say about the Line in DC BUT the added on $29 to the room seems illegal. It is advertised at one rate and when you go to pay there is a $30 charge for simply having the room's refrigerator stocked, even though you do not touch anything. Most hotels will have a pay per item fee which is understandable. There was no conversation or choice made to have beverages or snacks stocked so why would one think to pay for it if not touched? It is a built in rip off. Some may like the fact it is dog friendly and I do too. Yet, when I went into the lobby and there was no place to sit because the dogs were stretched out on the sofas I felt annoyed. There seemed to be no rules about dogs. They seemed to have priority over the guests. The dogs took up more space in sitting areas than allowed people space. read more

Unattentive bartenders, mediocre cocktails, and over price for the service that came with it. Very disappointed such a beautiful spot. It was midday we went in wasn't busy we were recommended to come because it is such a gorgeous spot, but ended up being very disappointed. They served a hot toddy in a rocks glass with no handle on it and had to request a mug or any glass with a handle for a hot drink. Was not happy. read more

It's a gem of a hotel. The room was nice and large and well designed. The bed was solid. My only complaint is about something that was also a positive, which is that the lobby doubles as a cafe, bar, restaurant, and neighborhood scene. I might have knocked off a star for that, but on balance thought it was more fun than annoying. The other thing is that you have to climb up a long steep staircase to access the front of the building. The service is trendy bar, not five star business hotel, but the restaurant was great. B-fast was special. The neighborhood is adorable. read more
