Yes, it IS quite a journey to get to, but I'd say it's worth the visit. I visited on the Saturday of the Easter weekend, and enjoyed the whole experience. There was a band all set up to play at 9.30 pm and I think that the whole village of Kilcreggan turned up just as they started. Up until that point the place was about half full and the many TV screens kept you entertained,(if you like football that is ).
The band consisted of three men and some acoustic string instruments, not all guitars. They started with an Eagles song and the place just suddenly filled up with locals. Being a small and remote village, I got the feeling that everyone knew who everyone was and the band played really well but the place was that busy that I'm not sure that most of them bothered with them. Some women had a wee dance in the wee space just in front of the band.
I think that there was either an over friendliness between the women of the village or just a small section of the population that were known lesbians as there was a lot of arse fondling for long periods. Just felt it was a bit unusual.
Anyway, the owners turned up to take over from the injured barmaid and they were very friendly and bubbley.
I don't know if they do food during the day but I can recommend this place for the good feel on a Saturday night. I was open right up to 1 am. read more
