Hamburg BurgerFest - One of the Yelp teams judging burgers

    Hamburg BurgerFest

Another great year at BurgerFest! It was definitely the hottest one I've been to with temperatures…read morenearing 90+°. First things first: there is no admission fee and parking is free. Always park along the side streets or in the school parking lot. It's a walkable distance. If you have a mobility impairment, it might be hard to find a parking spot during peak times since a lot is going on in the village. Food tickets: 50¢ per food ticket and no item is over 12 tickets (so for $6 you can get a full portion of a burger or other entree). I brought $20 with me and was FULL. I had around 10 tickets left over which I passed along to a friend who was staying later. The burgers: I am SHOOK that people say they can't seem to find burgers at BurgerFest... there had to be around 15-17 different types and styles of burgers! From a burger taco to pierogi and grilled cheese - to ice cream sandwiches- lots of creativity along with the classic burgers. Entertainment: Terry Buckwald is always a crowd pleaser and kept our spirits high in the heat! Lots of fun with those we sat by! Oh- did I forget to mention that there is shade areas with tables and chairs??? They have a good amount of tents to cool off under and sit/eat food! Main Street has a lot of fun with their performers and car show! Will be back again next year!!!

Hamberfest is awesome because you get the same concept but much less people, shorter lines and your not getting hit by a stroller every 20 feet. It also includes food vendors as well as people selling crafts, jewelry, face painting for the kids and various other items. This was mh first time coming and ill definitely be back next year!

We have been thinking of trying to do new things and decided to try bingo. There is a popular game…read morehere every Monday. Doors open at 6pm and the first ball is pulled at 7:30. After getting to Armor Fire Hall too late last week we decided to make sure we got here extra early and arrived about 6:15. We were not the first ones there but there were tons of seats and tables at that time. The space here is much larger than Armor and had 2 levels of seating which is great if it's busy. It was our first time and we did not really know what to do but some very kind regulars helped us. They suggested we each get a special, which includes 3 boards for almost every game that is played and cost $20 a person. After buying the boards there is not a lot of instruction. The first game is a little wild and there are numbers up before they start for the evening. It's weird because no one tells you this and if it wasn't for this very kind lady we would have been lost. I think they should have someone to make sure if there are new people they can help explain this. There were also a few bulbs out on each board so it was confusing if you needed to recheck your numbers. My final thought about the game itself was it was pretty fast. I could handle 3 boards but it was a bit stressful. 2 boards would have been better for me personally. Overall it was a different and fun evening. Nice to get outside of our regular activities and try something new. There are bingo dabbers, pizza and snacks here. All are very reasonably priced. If you want a slice of pizza make sure to pre pay for a ticket before the game starts to lock in your piece. There is also an additional split club if you are interested. No beer or wine served for bingo. There is plenty of parking here as well which is a plus.
