You can be in this store without feeling how fast time is passing...I was here around an hour without even notice i was there one hour. I cant tell enough about great customer service and unique products such as books, candles, sculptures, jewelries, decors and etc. everything in this store is collected very carefully and beautifully. I cant tell enough about the positive vibes that you feel in this store. Its very relaxing to walk and see all this gorgeous collections, read the books and decide which one you should get! Value wise is acceptable! Everything is has a price tag. There is no promotion going on! They have in different pricing range and definitely in my opinion its reasonable to pay their price point. There is also a big parking lot outside of the store. I love the paintings on the glass windows so before walking and enter the door look around. read more

Omg I love this store so much. Anytime I work in Costa Mesa, I stop by to get some crystals sage or Palo Santo. The price point is just so great and affordable. Everything inside is designed very great, with fantastic merchandise inside. I would highly recommend this store if you enjoy a local must see store. Also the staff was very kind and helped me find the crystals I needed :) read more

I first heard of this store at a 12 step club conference in Wisconsin 7 years ago. I have been ordering coins for our Alano club from them ever since. My only wish is that they had a store in the Midwest. Kind and helpful people take my phone orders and send them quickly. If I ever get to Costa Mesa I will go to hug these beautiful people and I give good hugs. read more

I just love this store. Everytime I shop here, I find exactly what I'm looking for. The people are so helpful and know how to point me in the right gift direction. Lisa and Melissa are willing to go above and beyond to make sure the experience is perfect. The whole staff is amazing and warm. This store has a great selection of medallions and books. The crystal section is a good size. The prices are great too. I can spend hours looking at all the jewelry. I'm coming back for sure!!! read more

I've been coming here for years to get custom Chios for friends and sponsees. I just realized I had never left a 5 star review for The Latest Thing. I am truly grateful for visiting The Latest Thing a couple of weeks ago. The staff is very empathetic, compassionate and knowledgeable. I explained my circumstances to them and was given the right suggestions on what to use and proper instruction. Prior to my visit, I had been released from my job. I think the staff saw the look of distress on my face and the fear in my voice. I was more at ease after their help. After many days of applying what they showed me and a little patience, things have changed. Today I am working with the same company but in a BETTER role now with better pay and more flexibility. The timing couldn't be better as I am expecting my first child later this year and I am happy to have manifested new opportunities thanks to The Latest Thing. I am looking forward to visiting the store again soon to share how things have been. Highly recommended! read more

This is a beautiful store, I could stay in there for hours just looking around! The staff is so inviting, and are ready to assist, all times. I wish we had one here in Louisiana read more

Unless this place has new owners I bought stones from here about $300 worth back in 2009. I don't live in the area when I got home and cleaned them. I put one out on a towel to dry and there was gold paint that came off of it. The majority of the stones that I have purchased are fake or baked. I actually purchased a lot of extra items that day because it was a place that helped people get back on their feet from what the lady was telling me. The pendulum that I bought has really bad energy and I have all of my stones that I will be taking back once I get back to California. I certainly hope that this place has improved but I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for your stones and crystals. read more

I love coming here. It's so serene and relaxing! Their cards and gifts are so unique and the amount and quality of their crystals are amazing! I was OVERCHARGED for a greeting card yesterday. The salesperson asked for $3.77 (3.50 plus .27 tax) but the card had 2.95 on the back. As her perpetually smiling face said the total, I hesitated for a moment but handed over four bills. I knew that sounded high but my mind began to scramble over how much tax Costa Mesa/Newport Beach charges. It felt wrong but I gave her $4 anyway. Had she put me in a trance?! Sure the shop is filled with incense & wind chimes but Mind Power? Was she also distracting me with her patter? She pointed out that I only bought one thing. She went on, saying in a soothing (too soothing?) voice, that most customers rarely leave without buying multiple items. Was she "single - purchase shaming" me? I only purchased the card so I wouldn't leave empty handed. I actually just wanted to check out the store. You see every time we'd drive by I'd say to my Boyfriend that I thought we had gone into the store several years ago. He said we hadn't. Finally we stopped in to prove me wrong. He may have been right. I recalled more of a Black Magic Goth vibe & a different architectural layout. The store is filled with crystal encrusted porcelain frogs & colorful dream catchers. Journals for one's thoughts & woven bowls filled with small charms and amulets with positive advice on them. There are racks filled with cards & handbooks for those in a recovery program & lots of magnets featuring quotes ranging from Shakespeare to "It is what it is". Anyway, back to my card purchase. Even if the price is different than what is on the back I didn't notice any signage. The card also may be keyed in wrong because the receipt says "Don't Let Yesterday" next to the 3.50. The card I bought says "Oops!" because it's a belated happy birthday card. Nowhere does it say anything about Yesterday. Whatever. I'm pretty sure I paid at least .50 more than I should have. I guess I could go back in & settle all this but I don't want to go back because that smiley salesperson kind of creeped me out. Was I hypnotized into paying too much (like those people in line at Sidecar Donuts)? Was it on purpose or an honest mistake on someone's part? At least it gave me an angle to Yelp about. It remains a mystery like fairies. Perhaps one of those magnets influenced me. Not "You Go Girl" but "It is what it is". Anyway, it's a cool store if that's your cup of herbal tea, just check your receipt. read more

I walked in there with my mask on very calm just asked the lady where I could find a stand for a rock figure and she rudely answered me we don't sell those and we don't have any here. There were a lot them laying around she could of be a nicer about the approaching the question her energy was very off and for a place that's supposed to be great energy or promoting great energy did not come across as that way. read more

This place is really cool! They have a selection of custom chips for gifts etc, and they'll even make you a special order one if you need it. Lots of other oils and things too! Truly unique! I disagree with the one star review, they were very professional and helpful to me. Having experience working in small shops like those, there are lots of little things lying around they would be easily stolen, so I don't blame them for keeping an eye on all customers. read more

2/23/20 2:50 pm I just moved to the area. Did some shopping at one of the local businesses next door. The front entrance got my attention so I decided to take a look inside. 3 ladies standing in the corner gave me the worst looks for no reason. I could tell they were glaring at me. I made my way to the other end of the stores where the 3 ladies were standing in the corner. I was curious about the store and the area they were standing in. I wanted to know more about the store and what they did there. All 3 ladies were still giving me the worst looks ever and we're not very helpful or very welcoming. All I have left to say is if I was the owner or the manager I would get better friendly faces. read more

The Latest Thing is another of my favorite metaphysical and gemstone stores in the OC. I recently came by just before the new year looking for a specific book by Judy Bell called the Crystal Bible. It's one of the best books for gemstones and their vibrational qualities. Unfortunately, this time they were out of volume 1 but had volumes 2&3 on hand. Just like the Rolling Stones say, you can't always get what you want, but if you try you might find, you get what you need. Well, I have pictures. Lots of pictures to show you the amazing energy of this store. It's suuuuper easy to find right in Newport Beach right off of Old Newport Blvd.next to Pub33. Being that it's a new year, everyone is starting new beginnings and new habits. The Latest Thing is a great place to pick up all the stuff you need to help facilitate the process. Stones, books, tarot cards, incense, statuettes, essential oils, everything you could think of to help get you started on the right path to your best 2021 ever!! I have picked up many gemstones in the past here and will post pictures of a few as well as the last book I bought there, The Book of Stones. It's amazing too, and I highly recommend it. Go to the Latest Thing and support a great local business that brings so many people so much joy! Cheers!! Happy New Year!! read more

staff was incredible. found so many beautiful crystals at great prices with a super wide variety! would absolutely recommend!

Great for a few items like crystals, sprays and some jewelry. The vibe is nice and good to just come in and see what they have. Love it!

Awhile ago some friends dragged me into this 'recovery' store. I'm in 'recovery' alright but not the kind this store would be able to help me with! Being I'm not interested in that sort of stuff I thought I'd look around for maybe a candle or incense. The young woman who was the only salesperson in the store at the time, acted like we were bothering her. Very strange 'aura' she had. I just got this awful feeling she was going to throw a hooded robe on then I don't know what! She would go in the back or move to a different area if we approached her for questions. But at the same time she was 'watching' us like we were going to steal or something. Don't worry I don't want Any-thing you have! I was going to call the store manager when we left but never got around to it. Plus it did occur to me that maybe that WAS the store manager how would I know? Then one of the psychic readers appeared and I have to say she was very friendly and we complained to her about the 'girl'. She was supportive and very understanding but we left after that. Very strong smell in here too with all the incense candles oils and stuff. It made me nauseous. I will say they do have a huge variety of new age stuff. read more

Absolutely the most random store... Part metaphysical, part spiritual, part alcoholic. I guess the overall theme of all the items are inspiration and strength, LOL. Heavy focus on 12 step items. You want chips, the got em all!! I left with a malachite crystal, I thought the crystal selection would be better considering all the other random items they carried but it was not, bummer. They have resident psychics as well, FYI read more

I came here a few weeks ago and I can't wait to go back! I'm actually hoping to stop by in the morning to pick up some crystals for my friend! I was especially drawn to the crystal section in the store! What a beautiful and expansive display they have! Jolene helped my sister and I the entire time we were there. She was so helpful answering my questions and sharing her wisdom with us. I ended up leaving with some Moldavite, Blue Kyanite, A little metal starfish, and a GORGEOUS pink abalone shell. Thank you, Jolene. You were a pleasure to meet and a great addition to the shop! read more

Love this place! Good prices and great service :) This is probably my favorite crystal shop in Orange County!

This is a cool store with a lot of beautiful items and a great energy! My reading by Michelle was mind blowing!!! Life changing literally! She talked about things NO ONE knows except for the people who did them and they have passed on. Those people came through loud and clear. I finally have the closure I've needed my entire life. I am so grateful. Also. She was spot on about my kids and everything else!!! Michelle is the real deal!! Thank you. My gratitude to you is forevermore ‼ read more

I went to The Latest Thing today to specifically exchange a 53 years sober medallion that I received from The Latest Thing when I had asked for a 52 years sober medallion. I seemed so simple to just exchange for the correct one. The person claimed that I didn't buy it there! When I bought the medallion at The Latest Thing in June 2020 I also bought a 35 years sober medallion for my wife. I have done this for many years in a row going back to when the store was on Mesa Verde Drive (when I lived in Costa Mesa). I now live in North Orange County. I didn't mind the drive. I felt that the employee in June made an honest mistake, and I should have verified that I received the correct medallion. Today, the person behind the counter claimed that the medallion was never sold in that store! So I purchased a new 52 years sober medallion, left stating my disgust and that they had lost a customer. I also advised 45 participants of an AA meeting about the unethical treatment I received. I intend to do the same at other meetings. I have not achieved 52 years of continuous sobriety by lying or cheating anyone, and I'm disheartened that a store specializing in items for a spiritual program like AA would do so. read more

Happy and harmonious shop. Love the peacefulness found here.

I came to this store for the first time, the customer service is great . What a fun place, it has so much nice stuff. I will be back again read more

The two women working there kept pestering my friend and I by following us around and continually asking us if we needed help. After it happened a second time I had a feeling that they thought we were going to steal something. That's not good karma on their part. I felt uncomfortable, maybe they were borderline racist or were not used to seeing two young Asian people shopping at a gift store for crystals and scented candles. Needless to say I didn't buy anything and just walked out. There are better gift shops in the area with friendly cashiers. If you're into the metaphysical I recommend going to Visions and Dreams down the street and steering clear of this place. read more

If you're in recovery or maybe you like crystals, or incense, or books, or cards, or jewelry... well then this the place to go. I'm in recovery and I really love this store. They have big book covers, and all kinds of birthday chips for different lengths of sobriety that are all different styles which I think is super awesome. Even if I wasn't in recovery, I would probably come here for incense and crystals because they have a really awesome selection. The employees are super helpful and sweet ladies, most of them are in recovery too which is friggin rad. Literally I cannot get enough of this store. One time someone gave me a card for my birthday from here and it had my astrological sign on it, super intricate and big too. Love this place - it's definitely a one of a kind. read more

When you own a retail store you need to provide a bathroom for your customers. I drove over an hour to this location . Walked into the store not one person said anything to me. I went up to the front counter and asked were was the rest room. " We do not have a restroom for Public use" This location did not have any near by fast food places so I was out of luck...
