This spot is such a gem in Old Town Tustin. It's a super cute bookstore with an amazing, welcoming staff and a great coffee shop inside, dangerous in the best way. I always make a point to stop by whenever I'm in the area just to browse the book selection. The space is cozy, thoughtfully curated, and exactly the kind of place that makes you want to linger a little longer. I knew about this bookstore for awhile but never had the time to visit since they close early during the week and weekends I am usually in LB. But when I got to meet some of the owners at the Festival of Books, I was encouraged to visit and I am so glad I was influenced. The bookstore is located in Downtown Tustin. There is plenty of street parking but it does get busy during the weekend. There are some parking lots but you may have to walk a bit. The actual bookstore has its own lot but it is small. The store itself is really cute and cozy. They have a good amount of bestsellers, new books, and mildly used books. Prices are great and don't break the bank. Books are in good condition which is also a plus. They have some really cute merchandise too. From T-shirts, totes, and other items for book lovers. Inside the store, there is also a coffee shop but I unfortunately did not try it out since I had just finished my cup. Make sure to follow them on Instagram or join the mailing list because they host a lot of events that are great. Also, keep an eye out for the OC Book Fair in November since they will be there. Overall, great bookstore and in a pretty cool area. This spot is great for a weekend trip after having brunch and finding your next great read. I will be back! read more

The most lovely indie bookstore! The atmosphere is so cozy, featuring old and new books and adorned with plants. They also serve some cafe drinks you can sip while browsing. There's also some seating, which I appreciate as this bookstore seems to encourage you to slow down and take a breather as you intentionally pick your next book selections instead of a go go go sales mindset. The area is pretty convenient to park around, and there's a bunch of other nice local businesses surrounding it worth checking out as well. read more

Arvida is a staple of the old Tustin community. Not only is this place a wonderfully designed store with a large variety of new and old books, but Arvida is also a gemstone of a 3rd space and cultural center that is so hard to find nowadays as corporations get bigger and bigger. This seems especially true given Orange County's inevitable beige takeover by a certain company headquartered in Irvine. But beyond its existence "sticking it to the man" Arvida also has wonderful staff and reasonable prices for what the offer. And with a coffee bar at the entrance, there's nothing that can beat wondering around finding your next paper adventure while sipping espresso. read more

Arvida Book Co is a gem of a bookstore located in the heart of Old Town Tustin. This bookstore is home to a variety of genre of books with brand new books and secondhand books to browse from. To get here, they have a small parking lot with about 3-4 spots or there is also street parking all around the area. Inside, they have a cozy and welcoming setup with curated books around every nook and corner. What I love about this spot is that there are always so many things to check out and everything is so well organized. The prices for the books are also very fair! I've walked by this store so many times and never had the time or opportunity to stop in. That all changed last weekend and I'm so glad I know what this store is all about now. They have a few small plants for sale outside, they sell coffee/tea, and a great variety of both new and used books from various genres. They play great music and they have one of the most inviting children's areas unlike any other in OC. I always try to find bookstores that are independently owned and operated small businesses to support and this one is woman owned to boot. You know, I used to work in Old Town Tustin back in the early 2000s at a sushi restaurant called Kitajima. It feels like decades ago (cause it was) but I always remembered Old Town Tustin had a very unique feel, especially being in Orange County. There is a feeling to it I can only describe as being similar to Stars Hollow from "Gilmore Girls". Growing up, I desired that type of vibe and familiarity but only found a coffee shop here or a store there fitting into theme. As I get older, I still yearn for such places and it was by chance I was able to stumble upon Arvida Book Co. on a cloudy day in November. Serendipitous, but a welcome turn of chance to find such an amazing book store. Firstly, the place has to be understood as more of a reading space than a book store. Yes, it has books although the selection isn't large. Instead, it can be seen as well curated with a moderate amount of books from different genres along with used and new books for sale. The best parts of this place though is how easy it is to fall into a book and get cozy in its space. There are plenty of different nooks and chairs to simply plop down and enjoy. There's even a small reading nook located in the space near the children's section and fantasy books. The children's section is also ornately decorated to give a space kids would love to spend time in. There is also a cafe located inside (although it was closed for the day we visited) and a small stage where you can see it can be used for small performances. All and all, I can't stop thinking about how wonderful and warm this place was. Though I don't have many reasons to visit Orange County these days coming here will always be a welcomed visit from me. read more

I REALLY want to love this shop. As a coffee shop and hangout spot, it's fun. And the curation of new books is decent. But I am really not impressed with the used book selection. When I asked if they buy used books I was told that they only take donations, which explains the lack of quality in used books. I had a chance to check out this book shop for a reading event that evening. It was banned book week and I took delight in the caution tape in the window coupled with displays of these "illicit" books. Arvida has comfy books to sit and read, a fun children's area, previously owned books, a coffee shop, and an enclosed open-air patio. The staff are attentive and friendly. There were many titles packed into the space without creating a sense of overwhelm - pricing, I assume is standard (since I am currently on a self-imposed restriction and can't buy anymore books until I read the latest stack). My wife LOVES books. We go to bookstores and libraries wherever we go. She loves finding great bookstores and this is one of them for used books. A really nice selection of used books. Fun to browse. Cute kids section with even a kid cubby for them to read in. The person working there was friendly and knowledgeable. The prices were good, typical of used book pricing. The place has a little coffee bar and a hidden courtyard in the back with tables and chairs. Another big plus is the parking. We were there on a busy Saturday morning and found no street parking. The cute downtown was packed. When we got to the bookstore, we were not expecting a spot but found its exclusive little parking lot with 4 spots and three of them empty. read more

The price value of each used books at Arvida Book Co is pretty good especially for myself who goes to several other second hand bookstores. The service is good and mainly at checkout. Personally, when I'm shopping or even just browsing for books I don't like to be asked too often if I'm doing okay, looking for something specific or being followed and endlessly being recommended books. As much as I appreciate the extra service I prefer book shopping on my own accord--it's more peaceful than someone always hovering over you. It's a cute little bookstore that gives off small town energy. The air is always wafting with the scent of coffee from the coffee stand inside the store. I've never tried their coffee, but I'm so tempted to have a taste the next time I visit. They also have plenty of comfy seats inside, and there's several occasions where I've seen someone bring their dog in here to chill and read. The decorations really bring everything together with the overall cozy vibe of the store. I also noticed on their Instagram that they also hold book club meetings. They sorta mix their used books with their new books, so it's a little tricky to figure out the price of the each book. Luckily, the used books typically have the price penciled in on the title page. This book store is TOP NOTCH. The owners were intentional about creating a space that is an overall asset to the community. First and foremost they have av beautifully designed children's section that makes even the eldest of us want to snuggle up in the cozy reading corner with a book. Then they have an outdoor veranda decked with greenery that can host anything from a book club meeting to an author chat and they do list that! Did I mention they also have really awesome book themed Christmas decor as well? Love it. I needed a spot to host my book clubs end of year meeting this summer and they welcomed us with open arms. That SAME DAY they were holding a speed dating event immediately after which is so fun and cool. The owners are kind and it's clear they care about the people of the community. I discovered this sweet little bookstore while waiting for the nearby Assistance League of Tustin to open. Best decision I've made all week, maybe all month. Met the owner, and his dog - both exceptionaly welcoming. His book selection was great, as was the Americano. We talked about the art he had on the walls. I love book stores and Arvida has everything I look for; new books, used books, coffee bar, cool things to buy (I bought a Billy Holiday saint candle!), comfortable seating and a friendly owner! SO AWESOME!! This is a used/new book store that also carries paintings, ceramics, tote bags, and other handmade items by select local artists. Book lovers.. we were amazed by the collection of books! I was so excited to check out this Indie bookstore considering I haven't found many in South OC that I love. I really enjoy The Last Bookstore & Book Soup in LA so after seeing photos I had high hopes for this bookstore! Unfortunately, upon entering the man working the front was the first bad sign (wish I would have grabbed his name). I'm not sure if he's the owner, I have a bad feeling that he could be, but he was neither friendly or welcoming. No greeting, no hi welcome let me know if I can help, nothing, not even a glance or a smile. I wandered around a bit to get a feel for the store and even after being in the store for over 45 mins the rude guy at the front never acknowledged me once. The only acknowledgment I received ironically was from a fellow customer who I can only assume is a regular. She was nice and asked how I liked the bookstore and for a moment I thought she actually worked there since she asked if I was finding everything alright! After talking to her a bit it was obvious she was special needs but super nice and funny. I noticed that same special needs girl speaking with some other customers telling them how she loves the bookstore, and how she works at Disneyland, and she just seems to love being sociable with everyone. She didn't bother me at all. I really didn't like the fact that when she left that same rude man started laughing at her with another customer, asking if she was bothering her and making fun of that special needs girl, saying how annoying she is and how she comes in with her stories and he just went on and on about her. The customer actually said "oh no she wasn't bugging me she was actually nice" this guy really doesn't like that girl for whatever reason and that's fine he doesn't have to but he also shouldn't be making fun of a customer (especially a special needs one) in front of other customers. It was so ridiculous and cringey to witness and really turned me off from ever coming back to this bookstore or being able to recommend anyone else to check it out too! I enjoyed the decor, the color coordinated bookshelf with the fun candles, the big comfy chairs and the music. What I didn't love was mainly the rude guy at the front! Also, if I really have to nitpick I felt like there was a slight lack in categories, way too much dust/cobwebs/dead spiders everywhere. I wish the young adult, horror and mystery sections were better placed I hate how they're shoved all the way in the very back in this weirdly dim lit back hallway. read more

I visited for the first time for the Funny Story midnight release party and loved my experience! I love that the party felt personal with the store's cozy atmosphere and well throighy out theme decorations.
