Entered with an old credit voucher worth $50 from previous book sales. I figured that I would get a few books from a local bookstore rather than online because I already had the credit here. Firstly, I searched their online inventory website for the desired books. Website reported books in stock but were not on selves. The staff couldn't locate them either and said they would update the inventory. So the inventory site is unreliable. Secondly, upon ringing me up for $20, I produced the voucher thinking it would cover the entire cost. Unfortunately, it is only good for half the price of your purchase. When I expressed my confusion about this policy. The tall crotchety old man raised his voice and loudly repeated: "Good for HALF the purchase!" Sir there is no only else inside the store. It's not loud in there. I was your only customer all afternoon. There was no need to raise your voice at me. How embarrassing to get to the ripe old age of grey and still be throwing tantrums at paying customers no less! I should have left the store without purchasing anything but I was just so stunned! I understand that I failed to thoroughly read the small text at the bottom of the voucher that explains their policy. The old man could have simply referred to the text on the voucher instead of displaying such disrespectful behavior. Take your business elsewhere because your patronage is obviously not valued here. read more

The Bookman Used Bookstore is a delight and worth checking out! I remembered coming here before but forgot about returning over time. I found my way back and familiar is nice, including the same gentlemen are still manning and working at store! The bookstore is located in an outdated plaza with plenty of parking spaces. The store is very well organized and shelves full of treasures. If you have an hour to spare, it's nice to roam this bookstore, breathe in old smell of books and find a book of interest to purchase. I like supporting used bookstores as a way to promote sustainability and reduce waste. By shopping used bookstores stores, you're helping small businesses thrive and spread the love for reading. My only disappointment was being overcharged for a book, where the receipt indicated "hardcover" ($7.50), for a romance soft bound paperback novel. I guess it's still a steal. read more

Still the best second hand bookstore in the OC as everything is well categorized and sorted on the shelves. Even if you can't find something yourself, one of the knowledgeable staff will no where to look. If you have books you no longer want you can trade some of them in for store credit, which is a great money saving option. Parking is not as good as at their former location on Tustin Ave so it can sometimes be a bit of a challenge. read more

Bookman continues to amaze me with their variety of books - when I search for hard to find books I often find myself checking in here from time to time - and finding things I cant find elsewhere =) The better half wanted some Yoga and Tai Chi Chuan books - found em. Blue adept series book - bamm found em, Jack Campbell Lost fleet books - found em. The team here is knowledgeable and helpful, the prices are fair to fantastic, the quality and assortment second to none - by far the best local bookstore we have had the joy to find. Every visit at this used bookstore is growing on me more and more as a nice fantasy getaway looking for mass market paperbacks (you'll find me spending 2 hours at the Sci-Fi/Fantasy section teehee). Every visit is a new find, a new experience, a new adventure in its on way. This is definitely my current go-to to fulfill my hyper fixation on 80s - early 2000s fantasy stories in those bent and torn up, yellowing pages paperbacks. My favorite used bookstore! I try to shop second-hand whenever I can, and I'm very grateful that this shop has such a wide variety of affordable books. The workers are always so helpful, and have great recommendations based on books you've read and enjoyed. I'm currently on my apocalypse-phase, and have gotten some interesting stories based on their recommendations. Definitely a gem, tucked away in a little plaza with a small parking lot. They also have an online database that includes hardcover and trade cover, so you can look up whether or not they have the book you're interested in. Of course because they're dependent on what gets donated, the book you're looking for might not be there, but the workers do help you find alternatives that fit what you're looking for. read more

I have been shopping at Bookman for years. I am very happy they arrived some time after the closure of Book Baron, which was another excellent Orange County bookstore. Bookman always has a large and excellent collection of books, and I always find something I am happy with, and always look forward to return visits. This one's for the book lovers...there are racks and racks of books in a wide genre of options. It's easy to get swept away from one aisle to the next and a couple hours later walk out with a stack of books to read. It's nice to see books having a resurgence. read more

I went to return a book that had a bunch of missing pages, and the bald guy claimed that it wasn't one of their books, saying the handwriting of the price didn't look like theirs. Then the worker who sold me the book came in and confirmed that he had sold me the book. No apologies from the bald dummy. He also offered me only $5 for a brand new linguistics textbook. read more

I can't believe I've lived in the area for almost 20 years and never knew this place was here! It's a little hidden, but I found it by Googling "used book stores", and I'm glad I did. They have a ton of old and newer used books, and I mean, they have some "old" books! I found hardback covers from the mid-1900s, which were cool. They have a nice website where you can look up what they have in advance if you're looking for something specific, but you might still call if it isn't listed. I do think they are a little expensive compared to other used bookstores., but they were friendly enough and appeared to have a much larger selection than most used bookstores. read more

My first time visiting Bookman, and I'm loving the place. The staffs were nice & helpful and I found one book that I think worth the buying. Some books are dirty, have writing on them, and not worth $5 let alone $5+ (in my opinion). I love how organized each isle is, to make it easy for me to find what I'm looking for. They have a website for you to look for the books, call them so they can set aside for you, and I think that's a great idea. Since I'm not from the area and driving is about 30 minutes, and with this option will save me a lot of time. I don't have to look for books by books, isles by isles. Here, I spent $10 for one book, and I found another used book store at $1 plus bookshop about 10 minutes away and I was able to buy 4 books for about $13. They don't have a huge selection of books by like Bookman, but I was lucky to find some art & craft books (for cheap). Overall, I highly recommend Bookman, just go and browse what you can find for yourself. The price is decent and I love books and I gotta get it or I'll die. Thank you Bookman! read more

Bookman is definitely one of my favorite bookstores that I've recently visited. I've had the pleasure of visiting twice now and both times I've left with books that were on my list, or even better books I didn't know I needed. Books here have been worth their price. I've been fortunate enough to find books in gently used conditions for prices that are better than what I can find on Amazon. There are several different sections with books just packed well throughout the store. Odds are you'll find something that will attract your attention. I've always been greeted and helped very will by staff the couple of times I've visited. The store has just a general sense of feeling welcomed. I told my cashier that I could get lost in the store just browsing and I was welcomed to get lost in the store anytime. Truly this place boasts one of the best collections of books available for visitors to purchase. You know when you've found a great spot because books just seem to occupy so much of the store. But you can walk around comfortably while you browse! There is plenty of parking available in the plaza. If you are in the city of Orange, make sure to check out Bookman! I'd find it hard to imagine someone stopping by here and not finding at least one book that they're interested in, even better when it's for a great price! read more

So glad to have come across this bookshop on yelp! This is one of the best used bookstores in the OC. Located just outside of Old Towne Orange, it houses thousands of books, literature, historical of all sorts. We were looking for a particular book and they have a good inventory system that didn't pull up the title. But it did not prevent Husband and I from walking home with a boxload of precious finds. We started browsing through the dollar books outside the store. With great patience and a good eye, we were able to find about 6. One was on cheese, "The Complete Book of Cheese", looks like a nice vintage copy. I love it! Upon entrance, there is a little seating area for those who like a place to read or ponder. The storeowner is super friendly and was able help Husband with titles he was searching for. I jumped right into the new arrival section and found a few interesting ones like "Vietnamese Communism" and "Taliban". So much to learn, so little time. Jean Paul Sartre, "The Words", caught my eye. Then I wandered, and there are plenty of aisles to wander through...I spent most of my time in the cookbook section. I built a pretty nice collection, but so far away from getting all that I would like. Added "Larousse Gastronomique", originally published in 1938, I got this Sixth Printing from 1965 and was thrilled. These are some of the treasures you will discover. Books are very will organized in all genres. There is even a little section for the little ones where they can enjoy some reads, floor seats on padded matting. Music streams from above with swing-era sounds. "In the Mood" gets you really in the mood to vintage old books. I know it got me! So maybe give yourself a good hour in this shop. I knew about Bookman for a while now and since I love books and I was in Orange area, I had to go and check it out. Unfortunately, maybe the timing wasn't the best for me. They just moved at this new location, which is nice, big with a decent parking lot and easy to find. But they're opened while they're still arranging the store, putting shelves together and unpacking. Some books are already on the shelves, which is nice - Fiction, Horror, etc. The selection is OK, prices the same. I've seen better. But it's hard to browse when workers are hammering, etc. I was there on a Saturday. Staff is nice, there is a restroom to use. Once the bookstore is set up, I'm sure it'll be cool to check out. If you live in the area, go to Chapman, this place could be a great resource. As for me, maybe another visit? read more

I think they moved locations a few years ago, because I remember coming here as a kid, but in a different location. Check the address before you go! They have a ton of books. Bookstores are rare now, so support local businesses! They accept book donations! Donate books here since libraries are still not accepting books. First time here! Loved how organized and clean everything was. Not the biggest used bookstore I've been to but there is a huge selection of books. This place is a book lover's fantasy because there's books of all different genres from fantasy to interior design. They did a great job at labeling the different sections of the store by genre so it's easy to navigate and find a specific genre. I found the vintage postcards and book covers found throughout the store very cute. I didn't think I was going to come out buying any books today but I came across the children's section and thought of my friend's little siblings. All of the books were in fair/good condition. This place would be great for teachers who are looking to expand their classroom library and parents. I ended up buying 3 childrens book and 1 baking book that came to be around $13. The only used bookstores I frequent are Friends of the Library sales at local libraries and when I discovered Bookman, my bookish heart squealed with delight! I found Bookman on Yelp and was super excited to check it out. The outside gives it the appearance of a smaller place than it is. The inside is quite spacious and organized! On a Sunday, I came to Bookman after Shop Small Business Saturday to do my part in supporting small businesses. I think books are one of the few things in life we can certainly recycle and donate. They have clearance racks outside where all the books are $1 and their prices are fair for a used bookstore. As a romance reader I wish their turnover for mass markets was a bit higher, but I still always find a few gems.
