Good deals! I heard about this place because my husband, who grew up in Orange County, knew about it. After he mentioned it, I looked it up on Yelp and was pleasantly surprised by the reviews. This is a cute bookstore! The prices are unbeatable! I wanted the Twilight book set for a gift and found it here, for a lot cheaper than other places. The set was in great condition too. The bookstore is very organized and clean. It was pretty easy to navigate the store and find books. Service was good too. The person offered to help us look for what we wanted. I would come back here for more books in the future. read more

One of my reading friends recommended this store. There is more than one location, I will have to make time to go to their sister store because I loved this one. If you have some time in your day and you need new (used) books this is a great resource! I spent maybe 30-45 minutes browsing the aisles in most sections and I came home with about 8 books! All different genres, some non fiction, cookbooks and even some popular books I've heard others raving about! It was buy one get one free in most categories so I felt like I was able to grab a nice selection of books to add to my shelves at home. The attendant minding the cash register was very sweet and helpful, offering me more time to grab a second book from a category to really maximize the BOGO deal I was receiving! I spent about $45ish on 8 books which I think is a steal considering I was excited about every one I picked out! read more

My first time going to $1 plus bookshop and I love it here. The place is nice and clean, I went on a Sat around 11am and there's not a lot of people and I found 4 books for about $13. I found another used bookstore (Bookman) down the block and bought a book for about $10. I love books so it's worth every penny that I spent on. I highly recommend this bookstore. read more

I went here years ago and didn't find much, but now as a massive romance reader and collector of older romances this is my favorite shop! I've been three times in the past couple of months and would visit more if I lived closer. There are tons of mass market romances in great condition and it's always a fun hunt through the stacks. Plus mass markets are $1 which is such a good deal. The store is large and full of treasures so it's worth the visit! They are located in the back of the shopping center and have plenty of parking. read more

Stumbled on this hidden gem waiting for my cat to receive lab work at the Cat Care Clinic, which is also in the Tustin and Lincoln complex. $1 Plus Books is located at the far right of Vons at the very back...so it's literally hidden. Most books I looked at were between $1-5, which I find to be a very reasonably price for well maintained used mass market paperback and common hardcover books inside of a used bookstores (if you want super cheap, but fewer options, visit all of our local public libraries - you're welcome). I'm not entirely sure they offer a bundled deal where you buy a certain number of paperbacks/hardcovers and get a deal, but it would be nice - if they do, it's not posted visibly. The book store is quite large with lots of windows, and is well labeled between subjects and authors making it fairly easy to find what you are looking for, especially if you desire a certain subject or specific author. The older lady running the counter smiled at us when we entered and replied to my greeting with a quick hello, but did not offer any assistance, but nor did I ask for it. My almost 13 year old son found two books (1 hardcover with dust jacket in praying condition with $13 original price tag joke book and 1 softcover illustrated condensed medical reference book) and is super pleased with his purchase ($3.99 each). Overall I recommend hunting through their extensive selection of books because I suspect you too will find a fun read to bring home too - and it's nice inside, plus you're supporting a small business and helping give books another chance. I forgot to ask her if she buys any used books from customers. I'll ask next time because I have a good collection. Happy hunting! read more

This bookstore is in the Vons plaza. Lots of parking available. It's a large store, bigger than I expected. Very clean and organized store. Friendly staff. Stumbled upon this place because I needed to donate books. Most libraries are not accepting donations due to covid. This place accepts donations, so donate away! No restrictions on donating unlike the library. It's a nice alternative to the library since a lot of libraries are closed now. Support local small businesses! read more

Why didn't I find this place sooner??? My children and I are avid readers, not to mention we have a little free library in our yard. This is the perfect place to load up on amazing books! Books stores are such a dying breed, unfortunately, which makes used bookstores so much fun! Think of a giant garage sale only with books. They try to keep things organized, but with so many books, you really have to hunt for what you're looking for - or hunt for what you're not looking for that grabs your attention enough to spend a buck to buy it. They also have past magazines and also some records which are fun to browse through. What I love the most is used music books, and not just books about music, but actual music books. The variety changes so you have to check back often, but you can find some real gems. I personally found a book of church organ music that is out of print. Great find! The hours seem to change every now and then as it's obviously not a chain store that can support a ton of employees, but if you hit it up late morning to early evening, you'll probably get them while they're open. read more

I have been wanting to check out this bookstore for so long and I finally got to visit. The store is large and full of shelves to explore. I've been coming to this bookstore for about a year now. They have a nice self help/improvement section if you're into that - that's really the only kind of reading I like to do so I can't comment for their other sections. But I've definitely found popular authors & widely known books which is awesome because they're only $1. I also own a crafting business that upcycles used books into new home decor so I come here to buy my books in bulk. I'll walk out with 100 books at time. The title of the store is misleading most books are well over a dollar. Service is non existant. Workers could care less about what book you want. And the place is musty and spooky. We've been here a couple times and my kids and I can spend hours here. It's a gem! It's organized and they have lots to chose from. Most books are a dollar with the exception of some that are $2 or $3. My 17 year old son and my 7 year old daughter always find lots of books. I liked this place a lot more when they let customers use their restroom.. And when they were a $1 book store. Now they are "$1 PLUS * BOOK SHOP". It used to be a fun treasure hunt going here, but now all of the better stuff is at the front of the store. The stuff at the front of the store, on the walls and in cases, is all way over $1. I understand that a store needs to make money, but the name feels misleading. What does it mean? Isn't just about every used book store $1 plus? So, maybe it is a promise that you won't find anything for less than $1? I'm not sure about the viability of that business model. Aside from the negatives of the store name and pricing issues and no public restroom, there is a positive to shopping here - the selection. As other reviewers have stated they have quite a good selection of books here. The titles are multitudinous and high inventory turns keep the selection fresh. read more

Twice now I've come because Yelp has stated that they are open but they actually are not or close earlier than stated. Great selection of used books, especially in the reference and puzzles and games section. A couple of my favorite books I got were a book of miscellaneous tests that had many cool questions in psychology and another book with cool word games and verbal puzzles. Convenient location and as a book lover, I would come here after visiting the nearby Bookman and the Bargain Book World that used to be at the Village at Orange. Prices for books are more like 3 bucks each now as they moved all their books that were around that price point from their old store further down Tustin. That is still very affordable and excellent value for their high-quality books. They also sell great high-quality face masks at very reasonable prices! read more

This bookstore is unreal. Wonderful! All books are used and in good condition. Nearly all books are a dollar, there are a few behind the counter that are more expensive (think $3 or $5). And the selection is great. Really really great, I've found new releases and classics and everything in between. I have brought several friends here and will continue to do so! Very large place with a great selection, ran by the owner, who is very nice and helpful. Just know that many books are not $1 but rather averaging around ~$4-5 as far as the nonfiction and classics I looked at (range $3-7 but still great price for the quality of the books). The owner said $1 refers to the childrens books (I didn't look at them to verify though). Will return. read more

I LOVE One Dollar Bookstore, I could come here every day! Huge selection of books with oodles of well-known, recent titles in various genres. I'm impressed by how many are in great condition. Unlike other stores, the books are set up horizontally, which I really like because I don't have to bend my neck sideways to read the titles (ouch). Each book is seriously a dollar - no tricks. Even oversize hardcovers such as coffee table books are still just a dollar. Naturally, as a devoted customer for a long time, my shelves are stuffed to the max. :) Some extra notes: They're at the back of the plaza, the store furthest from the street. Plenty of parking. Credit cards are accepted with a 5-book minimum purchase. You can pay credit for less than 5 but there's a 25-cent fee. No returns allowed, but come on, they're ONE dollar. The one dollar book store that use to be open near Irvine was by far the most organized one dollar bookstore. This one is organized to certain extent. The hours here are from 10am to 8pm.
