You might call this exceptional little find a "dive juice bar" but having grown up in Coconut Grove, this place still gives off an authentic hippie vibe. Unlike everything around it, it hasn't lost. It's wonderful beachy, hippie charm. It's down to earth and that's what makes it great. The people who work here and people who eat and drink here are down to earth and friendly. Oh, how The Last Carrot has my heart. It was an awkward first date over 15 years ago that introduced me to The Last Carrot. While that relationship never went anywhere, I have it to thank for my ongoing to relationship with The Last Carrot. What I love is how time stands fairly still in this establishment, meaning, it looks and feels almost exactly the same as it did the first time I walked in. Sure there have been some upgrades here and there but the essence of The Last Carrot has remained the same -- fresh food, simple ingredients, super laid back vibes. This is truly a locals place--familiar faces all around and a charming team that remembers you. I think for anyone new trying The Last Carrot out--here's my advice: trust the process! Walk-in, grab a seat, decide what you want and trust that someone did notice you walked in and will take your order. I say this because depending on the time that you go, it gets quite busy. Since they make everything to order, it can feel like a long time to get through the dining experience. Therefore if you're in a time crunch I recommend placing an order to go. But if you have time to spare, find a spot at the food counter, enjoy the people watching, listen to a good book or podcast and soak it all in! The whole menu is yummy but my absolute favorite are the SPINACH PIES. My order hasn't changed in all these years--a tuna or chicken spinach pie, add avocado with Mixed Veggie Juice add ginger. Also, the side sauces are thing here--if anything, just go to try the sauce. I know a lot of people prefer the green but I personally adore both red and green. I love LAST CARROT! Hidden gem in Coconut Grove that I just tried for the first time. The spot is small and cozy and the vibes you expect from a healthy and vegan lunch spot. Lovely staff and soo quick at giving your order, making it the perfect lunch spot. I love fresh food and this was just that. Fresh veggies with lots of flavor in the protein, and not to mention their green sauce/ vinaigrette. Best sauce I've tried in a while. I devoured it all over my sandwich. My friend and I shared the falafel and hummus sandwich and my mom got the cheese one. I would get the falafel next time and add a bit of hummus. Loved the falafel flavor. Parking is annoying because of the location, but it's out of their control. They do have a small lot out front that you may be able to get a spot in. Once inside, it has a very open, welcoming, farmer market kinda feel to it. There is limited seating and a diner style bar area to eat at. The people are friendly and inviting. The menu has a decent amount of options at reasonable prices. We had a few different things and were happy with them. They also have smoothies, which are always tasty. So after a weekend of indulgent eating & drinking, we decided to try something a little healthier, especially since we were planning some urban hiking (well a 3 mile walk which I hadn't done in a while.) R looked up "Healthy Dining" on Yelp Mobile, and Last Carrot came up. Step inside and you're in the 70's and early 80's when the Rainbow Family Gathering camped off Peacock Park & smoothies cost 95 cents. Heck, it even smells healthy in there! They have both a counter and a few tables and some whimsical art on the wall. I'm not that experienced in the healthfood game, so I let bae do some recommendations on the juices. She suggested the wheatgrass shot which I braved. I guess it must have worked since I was able to get a long walk in! My main course was their chicken salad wrap on a whole wheat tortilla with plenty of sprouts, carrots & tomatoes. I preferred the vinaigrette instead of the herbal dressing. Our waitress, who I think was the owner, was also pleasant in explaining the different dishes as well as letting me sample some first. However, the food is cheap and fresh, and service is fast if you're in a hurry. It's FREEZING inside, so bring a jacket/sweatshirt. I went for lunch on Friday and they were unfortunately out of both avocado and falafel. They were also unable to accommodate my request for white meat chicken salad without celery, but promised that the celery was insignificant. However, it ruined the taste of the salad for me.
