It is right by me and they have many options to choose from, including dishes of the day which can vary from pasta to steak sandwich. I used to only get bowls but then I began to try other things and I loved each thing I've gotten. I definitely recommend the quesadilla, building your own bowl (which includes a base, a protein, 4 toppings, and sauce of choice). I recently tried the breaded chicken club sandwich, too. The staff is incredibly kind, they'll help you out with any question you may have about the menu or otherwise. Their protein options are not at all limited, from jerk chicken to picanha steak you'll find something that's right for you. The location is a bit small, it's only to-go orders really. The parking structure has about 3-4 spaces that belong to the actual restaurant and peak time is almost always around noon-1 PM for lunch. With FIU being a few steps away, it's most students' go-to. The food was yummy so I decided I would try again later. The food is well portioned and leaves me with leftovers for later. I wrote a review a couple of days ago while very angry after a horrible experience. I got back a vile response from the owner, so I'll start again. I had a hard day, ordered what I thought would be a delicious lunch, as I've ordered from them several times before. Just wanting to relax and enjoy. This time, it was awful. I was looking forward to what they call Green in their name, plus some chicken. That's what I liked about this place in the past. The freshness of the greens plus a protein. I have no idea what happened on their end, but the toppings I ordered were mainly just not there, and instead toppings that I didn't order. Very little greens except for the wrong ones. No black beans that I ordered, no cilantro that I ordered. Etc. And the absolute worst part, is that they filled the plate with tons and tons and tons of chicken. Just looking at it made me gag. It was dry and so unappetizing. Some pieces of chicken had bone fragments. I ate some, and have had an upset stomach since. I immediately contacted the Restaurant and spoke to the owner and expressed my displeasure very politely. She offered a refund and I declined. It wasn't about the $$ but the horrible experience. I wrote my review. I was absolutely not happy. But I was done. But then my phone kept ringing. I ignored it. I had a rough day and wanted to be left alone. The owner forced her employee who obviously wasn't trained in how to prepare a meal properly, to call me. Repeatedly. And then to text me!! Instead of just letting it go. Offering me money again, as if that takes care of a horrible experience. How dare the owner give out my name and phone number to an employee? Unreal. So I sent back several text messages expressing how I really felt about the disgusting food they sent me. How dare this employee invade my private space with repeated calls and then a text about her mistake. Just ridiculous. I felt harassed for just expressing how disgusting their food was. So I got upset and responded. The world has become very complicated when you can't even order food and give an honest opinion without having boundaries broken. The owner is 100% responsible for not training her staff, yet she forces them to repeatedly contact the customer. Extremely disappointed. read more

My friend, who lives right above this place, recommended it to me. It's clearly designed for FIU students, with a casual, come-and-go vibe. While it may not have anything particularly unique, the staff were incredibly nice and friendly. I tried the Chimichurri steak tacos, which, at $15 for three tacos, initially seemed pricey, but they were generously filled with delicious meat and larger than your average taco. Came here for some good food for lunch and was shocked to see it empty on a Saturday. Usually this business is booming mon-fri and for good reason too. I ordered the big mouth bowl with chicken teriyaki and cilantro sauce. Also got myself a mango pineapple smoothie which was AMAZING! Staff is always nice and courteous as well as fast and efficient with the serving of ingredients. My meal and drink came out to 17 dollars and the price is totally worth the amount of food you get.the only thing I'd critique is the lack of parking for this business since its located on the first floor of a university dorm which has limited parking and kind of always blocking off the way when parking to dine in. This place is located on the first floor, facing 8 st , in the 109 Tower. If you drive by 8st you always see the sign but very difficult to see the entrance haha. Parking is located inside the apartment parking garage. There are LITERALLY four spots!! All the parking is assigned to residents, future residents, extreme hair salons and the green chicken. Literally FOUR SPOTS. Once inside, this place is very tiny. They have bar stool seats, about 10 and four desk . Everything is extremely well kept and the service is AMAZING. You could create your own bowls, wraps and salads. They have two sizes of bowls, the regular size I promise is big enough to fill you up. Next time I go I am trying their jerked chicken or maybe a wrap, but definitely coming back. read more

I really enjoyed this place and would definitely go back.  I had a lunch planned with a co-worker and we wanted to check out a new place.  The Green Chicken's location was somewhere in between us and it had great reviews so we decided to check it out. It's located on the ground floor of a residential building just across from FIU (SW 8th Street & 109th Ave.), just off the main road but parking is not great. I ended up finding paid parking about a block away in front of a nearby strip mall. Not too far at all. The place was bright, clean and employees were very nice, greeted you before you approached to order with a smile (which is nice these days). The food selection was impressive. Their big items were Wraps, Salads, Quesadillas, Tacos, Wings and Smoothies, with some Jamaican influenced items on the menu (jerk meats, wings, Jamaican beef patties, etc...). They also had some daily specials that looked appetizing. We went on a Wednesday which was 'Pasta Day'. And you could have the pasta carbonara or with any of their meats as proteins which included Bacon ('carbonara'), Chicken (grilled or Jerk) and steak - including Picanha (!) and Churrasco (skirt) - which they say they have every day and available in any of the formats - wraps, bowls, pasta, etc... The menu shows some seafood items as well but I didn't explore.  The food prep area was setup in kind of a 'Chipotle-style' fashion where you pick the format and ingredients and add your protein. Everything looked very clean, fresh and ingredients were abundant! I had a Jerk Chicken Wrap (custom built with the ingredients I wanted) which was VERY TASTY! My coworker had a bowl with steak and rice. We both shared a Jamaican Beef Patty which was really good! And we each had smoothies - which they call out are made with fresh fruit (vs. frozen stuff I guess) which is nice. I had a Pineapple Ginger and he had a Mango Pineapple smoothie. Both really good. Portions are generous and I tend to believe you are able to take home some leftovers but I ended up gobbling up my whole huge wrap and as a result was still full around dinner time. So in summary - food and service were very good! If there was a 4.5 star rating, I would give them that. It's a Very Good place, and I would recommend your eating there. So why not 5 stars? For 5 stars, you kinda' have to 'blow my mind' somehow. That's just my take on 5 stars. Also - It wasn't cheap.  A little more than expected by a place by the university frequented by students. For 2 food items (bowl & wrap), 2 smoothies and 1 beef patty the bill was $51.81 (includes 15% tip). That was a little more than I expected. Also - there's no inside seating. Although there are a few small tables outside in the shade but it can see it getting a little hot if there's no breeze. There was a light breeze while we were there but we spent a lot of our time swatting away at flies that wanted in on our food.  Not sure much can be done about that but maybe an outside bug zapper?  Explains why a lot of their food was being picked up 'to-go'.  Great place though and great food. I would highly recommend and expect to return to "The Green Chicken"!  :-) read more

Wow! I must say, you're immediately transported to a tropical paradise when you enter this place! The music is bumpin, and you're greeted by the wonderful staff ! They are also Dog friendly!Even when they are busy ( which is to be expected because the food is so delicious) you will be taken care of. The food selection is overwhelming ! From Smoothies, healthy bowls with many toppings available, daily specials range from Indian Chicken tikka to oxtail with rice and peas, the menu goes on and on! My favorite are the steak quesadillas, and I add on plantains to make it sweet. The smoothies are to DIE for with their fresh fruit and juices.
