I had my surgery pre-covid, and I had the worst vision EVER! I was in my mid-50s and have worn glasses, more like goggles, my entire life. My recovery was literally overnight. Great experience all around- from the consultation to the day of the procedure. During the consultation, I felt a little pressured to follow through with the procedure, but I don't regret getting lasik one bit. They help set up a date for your procedure after your lasik, so it can seem rushed. But, I knew I wanted to see the world clearer, and lasik was the way to go. My eyes were so, so bad prior to lasik. I HAD -11.5 IN EACH EYE, and now I CAN SEE 20/20. It's a whole new way to experience the world. The staff and everyone involved were lovey and accommodating whenever I had a question. They helped me navigate the financing, and now I'm set up to pay off the procedure soon. Overall, this was a great experience and I have absolutely no regrets. Thank you, LVI! read more

My vision is now 20/15. So that's great! The office staff were all very nice. However, this was still the worst medical experience of my life. I discovered at my surgery appointment that there were various options for the procedure--Zeiss, PRK, Visumax, Contoura--none of which was adequately explained to me during the initial consultation. When they told me the Brooklyn office was cheaper than their Manhattan office, I specifically asked if it was the same procedure, and they said yes. I wasn't looking for the cheapest; I was looking for the best value. These are my eyes! The Manhattan Lasik Center website referenced it being a no-flap option, which the Brooklyn office did not offer. I didn't fully understand this until I was googling it on my phone and was already too invested in the process with a hairnet on my head getting prepped for the surgery. Scheduling was another issue; my surgery, scheduled for 2:15, didn't begin until 4:30, causing unnecessary stress as my friend waited for hours outside. At 3:00 when I started to realize things weren't moving very quickly, I asked if they still anticipated that I would be finished by 3:30 so I could let my ride know, and they said, "yes, you're about to be brought in." However, I did not even enter the surgery room until 4:30 PM. I was already nervous, and that was compounded by the fact that I now had someone waiting for me for two hours outside. The surgeon gave a brief one-minute, stressed, out-of-breath explanation of what he was going to do to a group of four of us crammed in a broom closet size room. It was clearly about prioritizing how many operations they could fit into an hour over any semblance of making us feel comfortable. The only thing I can compare it to was bringing my dog to the discount ASPCA clinic to be neutered. They provide no sedation, which seems to be pretty standard based on conversations Ive had with friends and family. Once in the surgery room, the machine looked old like a computer from the 90s; it did not look new and state-of-the-art. The outdated appearance of the equipment added to my overall discomfort. While I was completely disoriented, the surgeon (Dr. Jeryll Jackson) started aggressively calling directions at me to open my eyes and stare at the green light. There was no concern for how comfortable I was. The surgeon was rude, and the procedure felt rushed. The way they were prioritizing speed made me feel like there was too much opportunity for an increased margin for error. I felt like he grew frustrated that I wasn't following his commands, so he stuck the suction on my other eye extra aggressively, causing bruising on my eye. It's not that I couldn't hear him or that I was ignoring him. It was that I was disoriented, and every time he would tell me to look at the green light, he was covering it with his hand so I couldn't see it. That kind of temper is uncalled for in any profession. The surgeon lacked any semblance of bedside manner. The way I felt on that table was traumatizing, and that feeling would have been unnecessary if they just slowed down a bit and took time to calmly explain what they were doing to make me feel comfortable. Their priority was keeping up the pace of one patient every 10-15 minutes. I was kind of in disbelief that he was able to speak to a patient with that tone in front of the surgical techs, and they didn't say anything. Lately, why do they explain the post-op instructions after the patient has had a laser in their eye and can't see. That seemed a little ridiculous. But... my vision has been great so far! So far it's been better than 20/20 (20/15) so I can't be too mad, but I also wouldn't recommend this place to anyone for the reasons mentioned. read more

The LASIK Vision Institute was great! I had a free consultation which was so thorough - they answered all of my questions and made me even more excited for the procedure! They were able to book my procedure in the same month as the consultation and I received one of their best December discounts! The techs, doctors, and everyone else were so nice and made me feel 100% at ease about a procedure that tends to be very nerve-racking. The procedure itself took 4 minutes total for both eyes - so quick and it was very easy! I was shocked when they told me I was finished and good to go home - an hour before my ride was supposed to pick me up, so they helped me into an Uber to make sure I got home safely. I slept for the remainder of the night and woke up with what I felt like was perfect vision. They had previously told me I could expect 20/15 vision but when I went to the follow-up that morning, I was able to read the smallest line on the chart proving that I now have even better-than-perfect 20/10 vision!! Everyone in the office was thrilled with my results which made me even happier. I can see everything so clearly and it's so nice waking up being able to see without contacts or glasses. Other than putting in eye drops every hour (which feels very refreshing) - it's been a seamless recovery as if I didn't even have a procedure done. 10/10 would recommend LASIK Vision Institute. read more

I went in for a consultation. They were very nice and attended to me right away. However, in discussing the financial aspect, I expressed that I was weary to do anything right away. He told me that he'd just do a quick check to see if I would be eligible for a Care Credit card. I told him that I do not want a new credit card opened in my name right now because I need to refinance my vehicle first. He ensured me multiple times that it would just be an eligibility check, and would only knock 1 point off of my credit. Well, my credit dropped 10 points, and I just got the credit card in the mail that I did not want. Needless to say, I'm not very happy, and will likely be going elsewhere for my treatment. 2 stars for the thorough exam and explanation of the procedure. read more

I had an amazing upbeat consultation at the downtown Brooklyn location. Discussed my rather hectic schedule and was informed of choosing a preferred date based on needed healing time, but yet time sensitive schedule. I was excited! The appointment was scheduled for 8:45/9am sharp. Day of appointment, while in route, I received a call stating the doctor had a delayed flight. Confused on why he was set to arrive in, day of doing a surgery. I asked if there was no "back-up" surgeon. They informed me there was none. That my procedure would be pushed back to noon. The doctor would arrive before that but just for some needed space. I agreed. I stayed in the area because it made no sense to travel back in nyc traffic. At 1120, I arrived into the office, when ready to pay. The young lady asked me how I wanted to pay. I informed her credit card. She told me that the care credit was available to me from my consultation visit. I did not agree to the care credit at the time and she made it seem to me during that time, that it was a soft inquiry. However, the card was on it's way. That was now an issue I would have to deal with on a later date. I made my FULL payment on my credit card. Asked about recovery time changes (since I had to be in school for 430pm). The details of my recovery conveniently changed to shorter timing. I was placed into a room with drops in my eyes to wait until the doctor arrived. By 12:25pm, the doctor still had not arrived. I received no update on what was happening and still running on a tight schedule. I decided against doing the surgery. When requesting a refund, I was then asked if I would feel comfortable going to the Williamsburg location. Why was that NOW an offer? I was then asked, if I wanted to call the surgeon. Why wasn't the ETA of the surgeon not being informed to me?! Why is he still in route?! I reminded them about my prior arrangements. They asked if I could reschedule. No offer of another discount (outside of what I requested during my payment for the inconvenience and that was for the drops to be free). And the staff, that was once sweet did not remain as sweet or empathetic, after I received my refund. Nothing about the transaction was rude on either parties but not as pleasant as it was originally. I had a family member take a day off for this. I had rearranged a LOT for this, for absolutely no reason! As a nurse, I understand issues arriving, but this was uncalled for, for any medical practice. I am one to never leave reviews (this may actually be my first one.) However, I was extremely disappointed by the unorganized and poorly explained process. I will be doing my surgery somewhere else and it will now be pushed back for months because of this. read more

I had my LASIK done here this week, and I could not have asked for a better experience. I've had glasses since I was 8 years old and walked in with a prescription of almost -10 diopters in both eyes. I've been wanting LASIK for a few years now (wanting to be 20/20 by 2020) and knew it would be life-changing. I found out that I was a candidate at a different laser vision center in Manhattan, but I left with the feeling that I was being sold to and that office cared more about churn than customer happiness. From the beginning, the entire staff at LVI was friendly and attentive, and I knew that I was going to be way more comfortable getting it done there. A few scans and a 5 minute procedure later I was able to walk out of the room with clear (although a little hazy, to be expected!) vision. The next day I came in seeing a better-than-perfect 20/15. I would highly recommend LVI and LASIK itself to anyone considering it! read more

For the longest time I had bad vision and been debating whether I would want to go through a lasik procedure or not. I ended up taking the groupon for Vision Institute and went through the procedure about 2 month ago. It was one of the best decisions I ever made and ended up with slightly better than 20/20 vision. I felt the staff at Vision Institute were very professional and did a great job of explaining expectations, procedures for recovery, and reassuring my fears. If you read through the reviews, you'll find a pattern. Those that gave bad reviews is with the after care visits, or customer service. I got my LASIK surgery here about two months ago - the surgery went well and I'm very pleased with the results thus far. I got PRK and yes, the recovery process is painful, uncomfortable, but I get to look at the clock when I wake up in the morning without having to look for my glass, which is amazing. The price? it's reasonable, and actually think it's on the lower spectrum with their promotion (They seems to have some sort of promotion going on all the time - groupon, insurance, etc.). Now, then why only three starts? the staffs are nice in person and very accommodating, but it seems IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of them. I had to reschedule my follow up visits a few weeks ago, I tried calling them multiple times a day, and no answers and no phone call back. I emailed them, and still no answer. When I went in for my post-one week check up, I was left in the waiting room by myself, with no receptionist, for 30 minutes. It's my eyes, so I want to make sure I get the proper follow up visits to ensure my eyes are healing but the after surgery customer service seem to be lacking a great deal and I do not feel like a valued customer here. If this is something you think it's important (like me) then I recommend looking for another place. If you are not irritated by this, and just looking for a more affordable place to get LASIK this place works fine. read more

They were good pre-op, always called to try and get me in for a consultation or appointment. Gave off the vibe like they really cared. The sales rep or consultant was pretty fake but nice, she took the time to explain everything, and had her tactics to establish trust for example, she would sit with you by the couch rather than having a desk in between you- she's clearly studied this. She tried to sell me a high price, but we settled for a more reasonable one. All pre-op assessments are done by techs and what seem to be ophthalmologists-the techs actually knew more than the doctors especially one I believe her name was Angela. I never saw Dr, Garrana until the day of the procedure, like literally when I was about to lie down under the lasik machine. She was working in a rushed manner, and it was as if in a sweat shop. There we were, all patients sitting in line one after the other anxiously awaiting our turn. The room looked like a closet, we could hear the laser machine going off with the patient's before us further increasing anxiety. When it was my turn they opened the doors and had me lie down, they then gave me a teddy bear to hug- this was great because I was about to freaking loose it. I had the lasik PRK procedure. She would put drops in my eyes, fiddled with each for a few seconds. Had me look at some colored dot. They counted 10sec in each eye and just like that it was done. I felt nothing but happiness that it was finally over with and done. Post-op I was not surprised to be seen by another ophthalmologist (you will see a different one every time you go). I think I only went to one or 2 post op appointments. After your procedure you are no longer important, and they no longer care. The reason I gave this place 4 stars is because of the great price, the amazing care pre-op, and because they got the job done. I can finally see crystal clear! On the contrary, it would have been nice to have the doctor herself assess me every once in a while, a permanent ophthalmologist rather than random doctors would have also been a plus. Lastly they should provide better post-op care and attention. It was made pretty clear they only want your money, not just this place but i've been to a few... they're all the same. read more

LVI's great but not for everyone. My vision's now better than 20/20 and surgery was finished only a week or two after the initial consultation! It's an assembly line because they've done Lasik a million times. The surgery is done in-office (not at a hospital) because they've got their own laser machine (they're massive machines -- many ophthalmologists essentially share a hospital or other facility's machine). But the LVI assembly line may rub others the wrong way. You'll never meet (much less speak to) your surgeon until 30 seconds before surgery while lying on your back already in the laser machine. Before LVI I went to regular ophthalmology practices for Lasik consultations. The doctors' talk had no value, wasted time, and they took forever to do initial tests that LVI's done a million times and does efficiently. Lasik's uncomplicated. Had I known better LVI would've been my first and only stop. Don't overthink whether to get Lasik. Just do it. So glad to be done with glasses and contact lenses and I don't know why I didn't go to LVI earlier! read more

I had my LASIK surgery here and now have 20/20 vision. The doctors were fantastic, and I'm told were some of the pioneers of laser eye surgery. The staff is warm and welcoming, and Lily goes a great job of managing the process and answering all your questions. After your surgery, make sure to order some extra eyedrops off of Amazon; a pack of 100 costs around 20 bucks and will last you eons. I think there's a consensus in the reviews that wait times on surgery days can be a bit long. This was true for me too, so either arrive extra early or bring a book. read more

I had wanted to get this done for AGES. We're talking years & years. I was stuck with glasses or contacts since high school & very frustrated with that. It seemed like LASIK was not only out of my reach financially but way too risky in terms of my health (the average cost was around $5,000-6,000 & I'd heard about people still needing corrective lenses after surgery or seeing starbursts and having problems with night vision). My mother was convinced that if I got this done, I'd end up being permanently blind instead of relying on contact lenses and having a slight astigmatism in one eye. One day, after seeing a Groupon deal on this that I couldn't afford I decided to look into this facility and ask some questions. I read good things online & decided I may as well check out the free consultation to see if I even qualified for LASIK in the first place. I was very concerned that I wouldn't even be able to get it by some freak of nature (as I've been unable to do a lot of things or had problems in life b/c of little freak of nature incidents/events/realities like not being able to tan & so forth). Well, I was in for a shock when I got the consultation and was told I was the perfect candidate for LASIK. They don't do air puffs to determine if you have glaucoma, they do their own comprehensive eye exam to see if you are eligible for this & are more than happy to answer any questions you have. This staff made me feel there's no such thing as a stupid question. In fact, the woman who was working with me at the consultation told me she'd had the procedure herself so told me exactly what to expect if I decided to get it. The big sticking point after this was cost. I figured there was no way I could get an installment plan that would permit me to do this & avoid ever increasing contact lens costs (particularly in light of the impending loss of medical insurance to get affordable eye exams). I was wrong so in light of that, it was time for me to take that offer & finally get it done. Preparing for this is a bit of a cash outlay and you're going to have to give up your contacts. If you're not running low on them, you might want to wait on this until after you're running short on them. I've yet to figure out a way to get rid of them & get some of the cost spent back on them, which is a huge pain in the behind. Also, it's a good idea to have someone escort you home the day after surgery; I didn't expect to have such a person but Fate ended up smiling on me & giving me that escort. You'll be waiting a while for surgery so bring something to do or read. You also pay a small deposit that goes toward the cost to hold your spot for surgery. While it won't be the greatest 15 minutes of your life & you're going to need to be careful with your eyes for a month or so, if you end up getting LASIK Dr. Garrana and the staff here are a great choice and facility since they know what they're doing. After my last check up (a few months later), the doctor said my eyes didn't even look like I'd had the surgery. I didn't get starbursts or night vision issues or any problems at all; in fact my eyes are better than 20/20 now. It feels like I never needed glasses or contacts though not very long ago, I did have a need for them. I have absolutely no complaints here & nothing has gone wrong for me thus far. read more

Let me start by saying that their directions here were really confusing. Flag 1: I called from downstairs to ask which corner to enter from three times and got a different explanation each time. Then finally some one gave me the correct directions. Flag 2: No one behind the table to greet me and make sure I was in the right spot. Some one did shout and tell me to just write my name down. I did. I arrived exactly on time. It was not too busy. 11:45. Flag 3: Absolutely no one came up to me as I waited. They kept calling people in that were before me so I thought "ok they were here prior to me perhaps when it's my turn I will fill everything out..." Then they called some one who was after me. So at 12:35 I make my way to the front to complain. They gave me a "oops our bad it's so busy".... not it was not busy. I noted my name was crossed of the sign in sheet. Some one finally calle me in at 12:45 so exactly an hour since my arrival. Again with the dry apologies. I don't think I will get my surgery here.... read more

Disclaimer: I did not have surgery here. This review only reflects my experience waiting for, but ultimately not even going to, the consultation appointment. I'm rating 3 stars not to sway the rating, but leaving this review so that others have some information. When I arrived for my consultation in Oct. 2017, there were 2 huge red flags in the initial paperwork they gave me to complete. First, the paperwork included an application for CareCredit, a healthcare credit card. The application was included without any kind of "this is optional" disclaimer, making it seem as though you have to sign up for it. FYI, in 2013, the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau [RIP] ordered CareCredit to refund consumers $34.1 million due to "deceptive credit card enrollment tactics." Second, I read the entire patient privacy document, and it essentially says that your information may also be given to third-party companies, including advertisers. Nope! I left before even going into the appointment. (FWIW, I had Lasik surgery at a different place, and they did not push me to sign up for a credit card, nor did their patient privacy document make any reference to selling/giving away your private information to advertisers. It is par for the course for your anonymized surgery info to be used for scientific studies, though.) I also got bad vibes from the other people in the waiting room, including a guy who was incensed that he couldn't have day-of surgery as promised, and kept calling the surgeon names. I know the office doesn't have control over their patients' behavior, but it seemed like this guy had been hoodwinked into wasting a day off of work. Other folks had also been kept waiting for a long time for their consultations. The last thing that made me "nope" out of there? I made my consultation appointment over the phone through the main LASIK Vision Institute website, but the office had no record of my appointment. They didn't tell me this right off the bat, but after 30+ minutes of waiting, I went up to clarify. The staff was friendly, but they wasted my time, and in my opinion, their office is involved in shady consumer practices. read more

I haven't even been in to see a doctor but i must comment on the screening/scheduling staff...unprofessional and poor customer service. A word of advice, if someone asks a question and you put them on hold, inform them that you're transferring the call to a totally different department. That way they don't get abruptly and rudely interrupted by the person on the other end when they're explaining I'm on hold and they state you've been transferred to referrals. Not once, but three times! And then i was instructed on the procedure for verification and appointment which i assume was incorrect because once verification of a referral was received, no one called me back to schedule an appointment. When i called back, I'm told the department is closed so someone will call me Monday....really? NO THANKS! read more

They're nice and accommodating until you try to have the enhancement done. Why even try to sell insurance when you have no intention of honoring it? Had two follow ups done to be considered for an enhancement, no calls back after confirmation. The second follow up I went to was scheduled for when they opened, 9AM and was checked in immediately. I was seen at 9:20, no other people in the waiting room. I didn't want to be rude but the exact reason I moved it up from 9:30 to 9 was so I wouldn't miss work. I had to get up and tell the receptionist, hey I'm going to be late for work, can I be seen yet? Scheduling for the enhancement did not go well. I called and a male receptionist at the office gave me an attitude telling me that I called the wrong office. I've only been to the Brooklyn Court Street location. He insisted I was at the SF office I had never been to and that I didn't have any appointments on record. I had to ask him to look up my file three times, he didn't even ask me for my last name, I had to tell him to look up my number and last name for him to go "oh sorry looking at the wrong file." Did not apologize for the attitude he gave me at all. I get that people are busy, but you don't talk down to people, then shrug it off when you're wrong. I really don't want to come back here but I already paid for the insurance. read more

Excellent experience by an awesome staff. One week after Lasik and I have 20/10 vision. Went in for a consultation, which lasted 2-3 hours as they perform a battery of eye tests to determine your eligibility and explain both the surgical and financial options available. Dr. Nghe and her staff were all extremely helpful and informative. A week later I was under the laser, which took less than 15 minutes for both eyes. It definitely felt strange but was not painful. Followed their post-surgical protocol to the letter and the recovery was quite smooth -- nowhere near as painful as I thought it would be. Came back the next day for follow-up and tested at 20/20. They said it would likely improve as my eyes continued to recover, which proved correct when I went in for a one-week follow-up and tested at 20/10. Eagle-eye vision, freedom from contact lenses, and a lifetime warranty if I ever need to repeat the process in the future for less than $3000. Best money I've spent thus far. read more

I had a wonderful experience at the LASIK Vision Institute in Brooklyn on Court Street. I had my LASIK (with Corona) procedure done two weeks ago and I am feeling great and can see FANTASTICALLY. I have spent years wanting to do LASIK but was too afraid to do it and now I wish I had done it earlier. I started with a virtual consultation which helped me decide that LASIK was something I definitely wanted to do. I then did an in person consultation with Francisco who was so kind and wonderful that he made me calm down and actually be excited about the procedure. I also met with Dr. Patel who was also just wonderful. Francisco and Dr. Patel were both instrumental in my decision to actually get LASIK and get it at this location. They were knowledgeable, truthful, and made me feel safe. After qualifying for the procedure I actually scheduled it immediately a few days later under the recommendation of Francisco so that I wouldn't scare myself into canceling it and so I could start enjoying my new eye sight as soon as possible. The procedure was VERY quick and I was aware of every step because I had been told beforehand and the surgeon made sure to tell me exactly what was going to happen. I would recommend bringing stress balls to hold during the procedure, just to help you relax! That was at noon and by 6pm that night my vision was 100% better and I realized everything was dirtier than I had previously thought and I had a lot of cleaning to do. I even drove the next day. You are given directions, goggles, sunglasses, and eye drops to use for a week and it's all very easy to follow and do. My two follow up appointments were quick and went great. I would do this once a year if it meant I could see like I can now forever. I am VERY happy with my experience. Just for reference my eyes were: -2.75 in my right eye and -2.25 in my right with astigmatisms in both. read more

Recently I went in for a Lasik PRK procedure. The PRK procedure is more invasive than the "regular" Lasik procedure and takes longer to recover from (1 to 3 months) but in the long run is considered safer and appropriate for people like me with incredibly bad vision (-8.5). Anyway, my favorite part was the Surgery itself. I know it sounds scary, but the experience is anything but. For each eye, the laser surgery itself was just 54 seconds. It was a great, fast, completely comfortable experience. I was able to walk out of the experience without any difficulties. Now to be honest, the next week after the surgery was difficult. PRK (unlike regular Lasik) takes some time before your vision develops. Therefore for the first 2 weeks, things were still blurry. But by the third week, I was able to experience 20/20 vision without the help of glasses - which is in my opinion, amazing considering my vision prior to the procedure. In addition to the surgery itself, I was very happy with their customer support. They helped me promptly when I lost one of my eye drop medications by directly working with the pharmacy to send me a new prescription and made themselves available for my questions and concerns. Overall, I'd highly recommend their center for Lasik and PRK procedure. read more

I had an amazing experience at the Lasik Vision Institute. Before surgery, I came in for a consultation. The consultation and testing does take a couple hours, which I was made aware of before coming in. It is totally worth the wait though-the exams are very very thorough, and the staff does an excellent job of explaining the testing, and the procedure that is best suited for you. Lily does an excellent job of managing everything, and called before and after surgery to check up on me and made sure I was comfortable before my procedure. I was nervous about having Lasik done- but she did an excellent job of easing my fears, as did all of the techs and doctors. I am SO happy, I highly recommend the Lasik Vision Institute!! So I had PRK on February 28, 2015. My vision was horrible, I mean seriously (for example, if a freak wind came and blew off my glasses I would have to just pitch a tent right where I was and wait for someone to rescue me. I could be around the corner from my house and STILL not be able to find my way home without my glasses smh). I was really scared but the staff did a great job relaxing and insuring me that everything would be okay. My recovery was slow (and painful the first three days) due to me having PRK (removing the layer over the cornea) instead of Lasik (creating a flap instead of totally removing the layer). Now looking back I believe I made the right choice and have no regrets whatsoever! I'm seeing 20/20 and I swear everything looks like its HD (seriously is this how the world looks! After 15 - 20 minutes of waiting I walked out and just rescheduled for the following week. I get there the following Saturday and guess what, I waited another hour after being assured that it wouldn't be a long wait. Smh! Went in for a consultation, after 45 mins of running test, I was told to sit in the waiting room and wait for the doctor.. after 15 mins of waiting there.. the assistant decided she'd continue testing me because the doctor was with a patient (waste of 15 mins).. after another 15 mins of testing I was told they'd have to dilate my eyes to run more test which will take another hour. I declined. The doctor came in, confirmed that I couldn't wait, then said she'd send the consultant in to speak to me about the specifics and pricing.. the consultant came, didn't sit.. told me to grab my things.. spoke while walking out the room.. we discussed when I could come back while walking into the waiting area.. she grabbed a card and said to give her a call about scheduling another appointment because the office is now closed for lunch lol.. while holding the door for me to exit. read more

Before having the LASIK done at the Laser Institute, I read all these reviews and I had consultations at 2 other places, whose names I won't mention. I decided to go with the Lasik Institute because the price was significantly lower. Normally, when dealing with something as precious as my eyes, lowest price would not be my primary motivation but after reading all the reviews first and not finding anyone who had any serious complaints and after researching the Dr. (Dr. Garrana for me), I felt very confident that she was as competent as anyone in the field. I'm so glad I went with my gut because the results have been fantastic! The consultation lasted about an hour. Not much waiting at all. I was told I was a candidate for LASIK but it was up to me if I wanted LASIK or PRK. It took me a couple of weeks to decide (which I recommend you do too because 1) it is a big decision and 2) because you are more likely to be offered a discount) but I decided on LASIK. When I showed up for the surgery, there were 3 other people there too getting a procedure done. After about 5 minutes, all of us were brought into a waiting room where we were briefed on what to expect during and after surgery and about the drops, etc. and able to ask any questions we had. After no more than 30 minutes I was called into the operating room. The surgery took about 60 seconds on each eye so there is really not much to explain and nothing at all to be nervous about. After the surgery, I could see 20/20 just about right away despite a little cloudiness. I had light sensitivity and mild pain in my left eye. I took 2 Alleve PM when I got home and fell asleep. The next morning I woke up seeing perfectly with no pain or any side effects whatsoever. It really felt like a miracle. Its been 11 days since the surgery and everything is great. No dry eyes, halos, or anything that I read on some reviews. I wanted to wait at least a week to write a review but I honestly do not have a bad word to say about the whole experience. read more

I went in for a consultation today. The staff greeted me as soon as I came in. Surprisingly very little paper. I was offered refreshments while I waited which wasn't long. My consultation lasted an hour because I wasn't a candidate. They made sure to explain why I wasn't a candidate and also made sure I wasn't upset which I appreciated. I had custom lasik done by Dr. Garrana back in March. Overall, I'm very happy with the results so far. The only complaints I have so far after 1 month is dry eyes in the morning and some starbursts from white lights while driving at night. Both are tolerable and have improved over the month. I'll say that Dr. Garrana is very good at what she does, but what I hate is that she doesn't do the follow up appointments with you the next day. It's done with the optometrist there. As a physician myself, I feel that the surgeon should at least stick around to observe their handiwork, but that's just my opinion. The staff there is friendly, but in the end it's just a big sales pitch. With strangely a huge push to sell these puncta plugs (which when I spoke with the surgeon directly are in fact endorsed by her). I ended up getting them in the end when they got discounted to 100 for both, but I'm not entirely sure if they really are making that big of a difference or not. Everything about my experience at The LASIK Vision Institute has been phenomenal. You are treated with the utmost courtesy from beginning to end. I noticed the staff actually explains the different tests and the procedure itself in a simplified way and makes sure you have an understanding of the procedure. They are using top-of-the-line equipment and the operation itself took mere seconds. I am currently almost done completely recovering and the staff at LVI is doing a remarkable job making sure I'm doing okay. It has been over a month since I've had my surgery and I am very very happy! I cannot thank the staff here enough for literally changing my life even if its in such a small way. This Lasik Vision Institute is located in Downtown BK, which is a mess if you are driving, but of course easy peasy if coming from subway ( the A ain't too far). The building is easy to spot and they have a receptionist ( door man) if you get lost to direct and identify you. Upon entrance into the office the pretty ladies have always greeted people and are very pleasant. There is even coffee and the office space is immaculate. All the staff are great, from the patient coordinator, to the receptionist to the techs. I've been able to reschedule easily during times where I didn't think I could make a certain date. The consultation did take longer than the actual surgery and follow ups but isn't that expected? You are getting an eye exam, getting explained the right procedure for you as well as being initiated as a first time patient. So allow some time for you first consultation and don't rush. My post opt instructions were very clear via the doctors explanations and while PRK ( which is what I opted for) does take longer in the end it was worth experience. Overall? I am still coming to this office for follow-ups and have recommended this place to all my coworkers looking for vision correction. Approve! read more

So they finally reversed the $2900 charge on my Care Credit account, but they kept the $100 that they forced me to pay to "hold" my cancelled surgery appointment. So, the initial exam is "free" only if you don't change your mind. This place just sucks all around. I had my complication-free "all-laser" surgery done at Manhattan Lasik Center for the same price this place was charging me for a bladed surgery. I have pretty heavy bias against most doctors, because I've had some terrible experiences in the past. But this place is staffed exclusively by some of the friendliest, kindest, most professional people I've ever met. Is the wait time extreme? Yes, absolutely, but only because the appointment is extremely thorough. They double and triple check everything before surgery in order to make sure they get it exactly right, and honestly, that's worth some extra wait time. Thinking about lasik? It's been more than 6 months after I did my second time PRK (yes, I did it twice). So far so good. It's time for me to write a review. Here's the whole story. I did PRK in mid-July, 2016 for the first time. Everybody knows it takes a long time to heal before getting improvements with vision. For me, it's even longer--maybe just because my vision is so bad. I can feel the progress almost one month with frequently using artificial tears. To be honest, it's far from my expectation to the real situation--my vision at that time was 20/30 with left eye and 20/50 with right one. After consulting the doctor, they gave me a choice to do the surgery again without charging me anything except the prescription, which is only $30 in total after covered by my insurance. I was so glad that I bought 1 year plan before the first surgery. After hesitating, I made up my mind to do it again, even it will be painful and uncomfortable for a time period which could't be described as short. My initial aim is to reach 20/20, I should endure the temporary discomforts if I have a chance to reach my goal. The healing procedure was even harder than former one, through I feel grateful choose to do it for giving me a chance to reach better than 20/20 with both of my eyes now. I did the vision check in Beijing last month, just half a year after the second time surgery. The doctor didn't find anything bad. The seldom dryness is acceptable, artificial tears can be really helpful. My life has been changed since I could see the world clearly.
