Was fortunate enough to be in England and visit the Landsdown Pub on one of the biggest nights in English sports for a few years. England playing in the knockout stages of the World Cup attracted a huge crowd to the Landsdown Pub who were prepared with outdoor seating areas, tents and tv's.
Hard to provide a full and fair review given the special occasion and how busy it was on the night. They could definitely have used way more staff as getting a drink meant a 20 minute wait at the bar and when we inquired about food, we were told to expect a two hour wait.
The atmosphere during the game (England v Colombia), and the shared enthusiasm amongst the patrons, made up for the slow service; despite not being able to eat we were able to get in our fair share of drinks, only after a good amount of pushing our way to the front of the bar, and really enjoy and savior the night and the England victory! Drink options were plentiful with lots of great beer/ale choices available, although all drinks came in plastic cups on this night as each England goal was celebrated with cups (and their contents), as well as condiments flying through the air.
An unbelievable night which will never be forgotten, just a shame about the food as the menu boasted some great looking options. read more
