Nestled in the lower east side of Milwaukee, The Lafayette Place serves up amazing vegan brunch fare. We recently stopped by on a Saturday morning. Though an intimate space, we were able to find a spot immediately right by the window (lovely!). Their space is chic and comfortable. We started our morning with their oatmilk cafe au lait, which was comfort in a cup. So yum. One thing to note is that though they have some delicious coffee options, they don't have espresso drinks. Not that we were bothered, just a note! For my breakfast, I got the cheesy hash which was an absolutely flavor explosion. It was so tasty and over-the-top delicious with just the right amount of heat. It's a tasty combination of their house potatoes, roasted veggies, vegan chorizo, melted violife cheese, avocado & avocado chipotle sauce. It's also served with a side of toast (which was hearty and delicious). The service is some of the best in the city. Seriously. They're so lovely in here. Get to it! read more

The amount of guacamole and chipotle sauce was the perfect ratio to hashbrown and impossible sausage. Took a group of Omni friends to this spot. They have a great brunch and lunch menu. I got the vegan brekkie samy. It was so good. My wife let me try her sloppy joe. The sauce was chef kiss. I also had a chocolate chip muffin. So good. My Omni friends said they liked it so much they're coming back. First time having breakfast at The Lafayette Place and it was quite tasty and satisfying. I ordered the cheezy hash and the vegan jam and butter goes beautifully with the toast that accompanies the hash. It's sure to keep you full and happy for a while! I can't stop raving to anyone who will listen to me about the cold brew old fashioned cocktail! Brunch had never been better since that thing was invented. Talk about a Milwaukee thing.. All of the food is amazing. All of the food is vegan. All of the food is worth trying and as an Omni person I can assure you that this ain't your grandmas vegan diner. It's a tiny place as it always has been but they do a good job of fitting everyone in fairly comfortably. Not sure if they take reservations but highly recommend you get one if possible. My only complaint is that I was too full to order everything off the menu!!! I ordered the breakfast sammie. All of the options sounded so good- it truly was a tough choice. My friend ordered the veggie melt with a cup of soup, which is her usual go to (she claims it's the best thing on tbe menu!) I ordered an oatmeal crème pie to take home, but ended up eating half of there! My friend got a carrot muffin that was super moist and flavorful. The ambiance was light and welcoming, and the servers were so cheerful. I left super full, which was the perfect excuse to take a nice nap to be the cherry on top to this great Sunday. Wonderful vegan restaurant with lots of great options! The staff was also so nice and helpful! I got the cheesy hash and it was so good, great portion size and the flavors were spot on. Had a really pleasant lunch experience here. Walked in alone at about 1PM on a Saturday afternoon and it was quiet and not too busy in the restaurant. The two ladies behind the bar / bakery case were both very friendly. I chose to sit at the bar and liked the clean and bright dining environment already. Ordering is all through the bar code. I picked the sammy w fruit cup with a peach basil smoothie. Got a cinnamon roll by mistake but it was good. The sammy was so good - I liked all the ingredients in it: the perfectly toasted bun, the creamy guacamole with the crispy hash brown patty and the slightly spicy sauce! Highly recommend it. The smoothie was very thick and filled all the way to the top, so I felt it was worth the $8 haha. I will definitely come back. I think it's a great place for eat alone or hang with small group of friends. read more

Love this new vegan place. Its delicious!! My friends and I tried Lafayette Place today and its such a fun place to brunch and connect with your crew. We ordered the tofu scramble plate, ciabatta Ruby's Bagel Sandwich and the impossible burger sandwich. For drinks we got the brunch ol fashioned, a bloody Mary. The food textures were yummy and all the flavors came together beautifully. The staff is very courteous and we got to order from our very table using a QR code. So pleased to see The Lafayette Place open up here. We love The National and were pumped that they'd be continuing on with a vegan menu in this space. And the space itself is still as delightful as ever. The big bright mural really makes for a pleasant breakfast back drop. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful and ordering from our phones at the table is super easy and convenient. We've ordered brunch for pick up as well as dined in - both great experiences. You can't go wrong with the vegan breakfast sammie and the ruby's bagel sandwich is a flavorful delight. Also the smoothies we've tried so far (banana chai and blueberry muffin) were both fantastic. We haven't tried the lunch items yet, but I'm sure I'll find an excuse to as soon as possible. Gooodness! A fine vegan brunch experience! We were traveling and searched for vegan breakfast and came across this little gem. From the oatly lattes to the meals- my husband and I were mind blown. The food all sounded amazing so we actually ordered more than two entrees and shared them all. We had to wait a while for a spot, but totally understandable. While waiting we talked to some people that , like us, have been long time vegans. So refreshing! After we all ate we ended up talking another 45 min and by the end of our conversations we exchanged instagrams and plan on meeting up again soon. What a bonus. Can't wait to go back! So cute w/ tasty eats/treats!! We needed to grab something quick before going to the airport and delighted to find The Lafayette Place! I got the po'boy sandwich and hubs got the breakfast sandwich, both were scrumptious! The individual helping us behind the counter was also a ray of sunshine! :) We are not local to the area but could totally see this establishment being a neighborhood favorite. We were so glad to see another vegan restaurant fill this space. The inside is so charming with an excellent staff that is very attentive to their customers. We started with a hot and comforting London Fog to warm us up on a frigid day. My husband ordered the Ruby's Bagel Sandwich, a delicious vegan take on a sausage, egg and cheese bagel sandwich served with crispy breakfast potatoes. The veggie burrito was packed with flavor. I love a breakfast burrito and this one stands up to all the rest! My absolute favorite breakfast spot! I've gone almost once a week since they've opened. Everything I've tried has been delicious. I love so much of the menu, I usually order a second meal to go! My personal favorites are the bagel sandwich & the cheesy hash. The cold brew old fashioned is a MUST! You can't go wrong with their smoothies either. Their rotating selection of desserts are great, I especially loved the butterscotch bars. I took my non-vegan dad here as well as some other vegan breakfast spots while he was in town. Lafayette Place was by far his favorite! He wants to go back next time he visits to get the chorizo burrito again. The staff is excellent! They always create an inviting & clean environment to enjoy a meal. Special shout-out to Georgia for always providing excellent service & lovely conversation! I may become a vegan now. Honestly I did not know vegan food could be sooooo good! Rolled up here on a Sunday for brunch with a group of four. It was decently packed, but the Lafayette Place is pretty small so waiting for a table of 4 took a while. However the staff was very friendly and tried to accommodate as fast as possible. I highly recommend coming here with a group of 2 or just on your own because of the small space. So I am pretty sure everything on the menu is vegan. I honestly didn't realize that until I was here, but I'm always down to try something different so it didn't bother me! Now everyone in my group ordered from the brunch menu and I specifically got the Chorizo burrito. Let's just say Lafayette Place doesn't miss because everyone enjoyed their meal! Now I'm going to let you in on the best item on the menu. The banana chai smoothie! I don't care if you don't like banana, chai, or even smoothies, just order it because it's that amazing! The Lafayette Place is one of my favorite brunch spots in the East Side - maybe even in Milwaukee. Honestly, I didn't know of any good vegan places until I came here and to be fair I never sought them out. Actually, the first time I went to the Lafayette Place I wasn't aware their menu only had vegan options. I got the chorizo burrito and to be brief, it slapped! I've tried other dishes and without surprise it's all fantastic! The staff here is also super friendly and passionate about what they do. Every time I go I'm always greeted by staff who seem like they want to be there (and it's appreciated). If I had to recommend one thing, I'd say the banana chai smoothie. And I have to give them props for the Goldilocks portion sizes: not too small, so you don't feel like you're getting ripped off, and not too big, so you don't hate yourself after. Came on a busy Saturday morning. A table was being held rudely for 10ish people but only 2/10 in the party was there. Tiny happy restaurant! We had lunch here today. I came from out of town, so I had never heard of it and had no idea what to expect. I wasn't looking forward to parking but the gods smiled on us. We happened to go on a weekday, which was ideal since there are only about 5 tables and a bar. The place is wall to wall charm. Best bathroom I've ever seen in a restaurant! The staff was helpful and sweet and made us feel at home. It was tough to decide what to order, everything looked great. Neither of us wanted faux meat, so I had the veggie melt- I love Brussels sprouts. It was really gooey cheesey. I don't eat a lot of vegan cheese but this was creamy and necessary for sandwich integrity. I was glad I didn't skip it! The veggies were soft and sweet- well-roasted on crisp sourdough bread. My friend had the portobello banh mi. I love banh mi, but I was afraid it would be too much portobello. Not so! It was a wonderful backdrop for the jalapeño and pickled veggies. Both came with kettle chips which were a nice touch. They had a bottle of cold water with glasses on the table. We really appreciated how clean and thoughtful everything was. Someone took great care thinking this place through! Next time I plan to get the veggie burrito. The nice thing about a small place is you can see exactly what everyone else is eating and it looked delicious! My first visit and LAST. Give yourself a round of applause Georgia for making me feel unwelcome. I brought my daughter here for brunch we are Foodies. I noticed how helpful and talkative Georgia was with other customers. Our meals were served not asked once if food was okay. I sat there over an hour and noticed her niceties with the customers and clearly had a disgruntled look on my face. It was my first time here and the meal selections were creative and inviting. Service to ME horrible and a HELLO how are you just once would have made the difference. But since this could have just been my experience... I won't visit again and if I see their business suggested as a catering option. It will be a NO for me. My opinion may not have value here but I will not spend money with BAD customer service.
