I had NY strip with broccolini and potatoes while my wife had the shrimp and grits and our 3 year old had butter pasta with Parmesan - all three were a hit. For dessert I had the sticky toffee cake with ice cream and the ladies shared the chocolate cake. Power Wheelchair Elevator access to the restaurant. Tables are high enough to get legs under. Good room to get around and in between tables.

The restaurant itself is a nice, open space, although the decor is a little odd with a lot of fake flowers everywhere. We started with the calamari and crab dip. The crab dip was easily the best thing we had. Creamy, flavorful and served with fried pita chips that were hot, crispy and really good. The calamari was just okay. It tasted a little like it may have been frozen rather than freshly prepared. I had the cheeseburger, which was fine but nothing particularly memorable. The fries were actually pretty good and nicely crisp. The biggest miss for me was the spicy margarita. The spice came from pickled jalapeños, which gave the whole drink a strange pickled flavor instead of that fresh jalapeño heat I was expecting. I ended up not drinking it. Overall, not a bad experience, especially considering it was off-season and they were working with a very small staff. The crab dip was definitely the standout.

Bear with me here; maybe this goes out into the abyss but I'm still gonna say it…read more Years & years ago I was wandering around the area & came upon Island Krave. It was brand new & the woman tending the store was friendly, energetic & passionate about the food she was serving. I ordered jerk chicken but she insisted on letting me have a taste of everything on the menu. Everything was delicious & I now had a new obsession- the sweet coco bread. For years after that whenever I was around I would pop in. I've since moved to GA and been living here for almost ten years. Any transplant will tell you sometimes only family & food keep you tethered to your home state. So happens this wknd I was in town for my sisters wedding & got my hair done a couple blocks away from Island Krave. As she finished up I placed an order on Uber eats, really excited for this meal- something familiar & missed. To see how the quality & care has declined truly hurts my heart. The portion of meat they served me was actually disrespectful to people who work hard for their money & choose to support a small business. These pictures are after they added some. If you're going to chop it to smitherens you need to measure it out to ensure the portions make sense. Anyone that cooks can tell you this is a thigh at best. & this is a $17 plate. I don't want to talk down on the place too much it's just sad how much of a let down the entire meal was after I felt like they threw my stuff together thinking it was being delivered and they wouldn't have to look me in the face. The Mac was good & the flavor of the chicken was as well. Cabbage mushy & salty. Rice is not yellow. & apparently $5 gets you one slice of coco bread now (I got two bc of my troubles, ha!) Idk I hope they can figure it out but personally I would never spend another dollar in this place.

They quickly moved us to a larger table when our party of 5 turned into 8 because of surprise guests! It was a long overdue reunion. A few of us were craving the Pastelon, since we are fans of sweet plantains, but sadly, they didn't have it available that evening. However, our kind server said we could order mofongo with the sweet plantains, so we decided to give it a try. We chose the steak strips and fried pork versions. Everything was delicious! We always enjoy the variety of the menu. Plus, the expanded dining room spaces make the restaurant very welcoming. Our party of 8 was treated well, and we all enjoyed our meals!

Since we were in the area and wanted to grab a small bite to eat, we decided to stop in. The staff greeted us as soon as we walked in and the restaurant smelled amazing, so we couldn't wait to grab a drink and order our favorites. We decided to sit at the bar, so we were given menus to look over and the bartender was very nice. I ordered the Spicy Passionfruit Margarita and my daughter ordered the Rican Rum Punch. Both were good but I enjoyed the Margarita much better! Since we weren't very hungry, we chose our favorites which were the Arroz con Gandules and the Relleno de Papa, which is a mashed potato ball filled with savory, ground beef. The food was flavorful and absolutely delicious! They also have a pink sauce, which is a ketchup/mayo mix, but it always pairs so well with the food. Everything was so good, we put in another order of both to take home lol. De Rican Chef never disappoints! After all these years, their food still tastes just as good as it did the first time we went! If you're looking for great, Puerto Rican food, definitely stop in!!!
