Awesome place to listen to jazz music! Food is well prepared and delectable. Great ambiance for a date night or a late night night cap:) If you're a fan of intimate live music and cozy atmospheres, THe Kitchen Cafe in Dallas is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in a warm, inviting environment that's perfect for unwinding with great music, food, and drinks. Atmosphere: The ambiance is what really sets it apart. The café exudes a laid-back, intimate vibe, with dim lighting, exposed brick walls, and comfortable seating that makes it feel like you're in a friend's living room--if your friend happens to have amazing taste in music! The soft glow of candles on tables and the close-knit setup create an atmosphere that feels personal and welcoming, perfect for an evening of relaxation or a night out with friends. Service: The service her exceptional. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always on point without being intrusive. They're knowledgeable about the drinks and food menu, and they make great recommendations if you're unsure of what to order. It's clear that the team here values the guest experience, and that makes the visit even more enjoyable. The owners, Tony and Lisa are always there and very welcoming too! Jazz Music: The main attraction is, of course, the jazz. They hosts a mix of local talent and visiting artists, and the quality of performances is top-notch. Whether you're catching an up-and-coming local talent or a seasoned jazz veteran, the music always feels fresh and exciting. The acoustics of the space are perfect for jazz, allowing the smooth tones of saxophones, trumpets, and bass to fill the room without overpowering conversation. It's an ideal spot for music lovers, whether you're a jazz aficionado or simply someone who appreciates live music. Overall Experience: What really makes this place stand out is its ability to create a perfect harmony of great music, stellar service, and a cozy environment. It's a place where you can enjoy a night out in the city while feeling like you've discovered a hidden gem. If you're ever in Dallas and in the mood for some live jazz, this café should be on your list. It's the kind of spot you'll return to again and again, not just for the music but for the vibe and the people. Looking forward to listening to more great music this year!!!!

I think the food and the live music made up for the lack of service. We had reservations and were sat immediately, asked for our drink orders but they didn't have White Zin (from menu) nor any raspberry cocktail. We ordered Chardonnay, and it never came until the food arrived and we had to ask again for our wine. They also brought us both the same dish even though my boyfriend ordered the shrimp meal. They only have 3 entree options, and although they have other dessert options, they said they only had the lemon cake. For such a small menu, they should be able to have those few items. The service is lacking for a $150 bill. The food tasted great, the ambiance is really nice, quaint, small and intimate. The live music was a blues band and they were great! Hopefully they do better with service to keep this place open. It seemed there were only 2 waiters in the place.

$48 ( not including tip)for chicken pasta dish and glass of wine. The $32 for just chicken was pricey especially when chicken wasn't tender , they forgot included grilled veggies and there didn't appear to be any sauce. It was tasteless. This was their Wednesday menu. Another Wednesday I had the pizza which was pricey for the size

Simple menu, great live jazz music, fun environment. Enjoyed the entire experience. The music was great and the crowd loved it. The food was good and the menu was straight forward and to the point. I liked that the restaurant had a dim lit room the entire time, it really set the mood for some jazz and good music. Would recommend if you are looking to try a different kind of dining experience. It is very personal and overall I had a great time.

The Kitchen Cafe in North Dallas a real treasure.

Wonderful show at the Kitchen Cafe this evening, singing along and loving the James Taylor, CSN, Stephen Stills, night. Brings back great memories and transports us back to the 60's and 70's. A tremendous venue, we're lucking to have such great music in Dallas. The night just got better, the Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Simon & Garfunkel, should not be missed.

The menu options are plentiful and unique. The service is exceptional. This is what I had: 1st visit: Coffee: Mocha covered cherries,10/10 very unique flavor profile. The cherry flavor is there along with the chocolate. They make their own chocolate milk. The mix of flavors is spot on. Veggie omelet: 8/10 the crust is flaky, the ingredients are fresh and well balanced. There is an even ratio of veggie to egg. It boils have used a but more seasoning. 2nd visit: Coffee: Graham cracker latte, 10/10 strong toasty coffee flavor. I could not taste a distinct graham flavor although the balance of flavor is there. It is pleasing to the palate. Cranberry Cider: 10/10 great flavor. It was warm and inviting. It felt like a warm hug near a fire place. Bacon, cheddar, chive, scone: 10/10 seasoned well due to the mix of ingredients. The bacon was crispy, the cheddar is present and gooey, the chive is like the hall monitor that keeps everything together. The scone is moist and not too dense. I enjoyed it. Breakfast sandwich with bacon and egg: 10/10 the bread is thin and crispy. They took the cheese off by request. The bacon has a great flavor but could have been crunchier. The egg is perfectly over easy and has the perfect balance of a soft and gooey yolk.

The only small downside was that they weren't as hot as I usually like, but that's an easy fix -- I'll just ask for extra hot next time. Someone else in our group tried the apple cider and said it was okay, but it tasted more like warm apple juice since the spices you usually expect in apple cider weren't noticeable. Overall, a solid spot for coffee, especially if you're in the area and craving a smooth latte. Would definitely come back and just customize the temp next time.

Our waiter was seemingly new at waiting tables and seemed confused and unsure when taking our order. He obviously couldn't handle a party of that size and should have had some help. When the food arrived at the table, two orders were completely incorrect and had to be sent back. When the re-made the two orders, one was incorrect a SECOND time. It seemed like their was very little communication between the waiter and the kitchen. Consequently, it took extra time for everyone to finish eating and one person's food order simply. never. arrived. After waiting we had to approach the host (the waiter wasn't around) to ask to speak to a manager. The staff then REFUSED to get a manger for us! We finally spoke to a manager who offered a 30% discount after arguing with us and telling us varying stories as to why our food didn't arrive until our party was ready to leave. Sloppy, disorganized, uncaring and boarder-line hostile staff. Our brunch outing was ruined. None of us will return. I do not recommend. Plus their tomato sauce definitely comes out of a can.

I love the Ascension Coffee at The Star, so I was excited about coming to this location. Apple Maps…read moretook me into a parking garage even though there is a ground-level parking lot, so keep that in mind if you are coming for the first time! The place has a variety of seating, is clean, and isn't too loud. There were a lot of people studying and working. I didn't have the best experience. They had their Fall drinks written on the menu and then after explaining to me what the Johnny cakes latte tastes like, they told me it wasn't available until Tuesday, which was misleading. I tried to order a seasonal peach tea drink, and they told me they were out of it. At this point, I was frustrated and got the golden latte, which tasted awful. It was so ginger-y and not smooth at all. It tasted like the equivalent of a tough-to-get-down juice shot. I ordered a breakfast veggie sandwich, which wasn't bad, but my friend and I both ordered it for dine-in, and for some reason mine came out in a to-go box. This was super odd and there wasn't an apology or anything. The sandwich was okay - the avocados weren't ripe yet and were kind of hard. The brioche was good, but $10 for something I could throw together at home in 5 mins was unimpressive. Overall, I won't be back. Ascension in Frisco has seriously the best service, with an expanded menu, and coming here was so subpar and disappointing.
