I've put off writing this review probably a little longer than I should have, but given upcoming NFL playoffs, it feels like I really ought to share my experience. I went with a group of friends to the Kentucky Inn to watch the college football championship earlier this month (Go Blue!). I honestly asked a lot of questions before agreeing to this, because I was a bit concerned about setup, capacity, etc. I was reassured heartily by my friend. And I will say the vibe in terms of tables and TVs was nice; definitely cozy low key neighborhood feels. That said, the service was a huge issue. We arrived around 5/5:30 and got in a round of beers. We were told we couldn't order food yet, which I was fine with, figuring the server wanted to pace things. From there it devolved though. More and more people poured in, and as the game started (and continued...) no additional service was to be had. If we tried to ask for anything we got told 'not now.' To summarize immensely, there was one server working on a night with probably about a 100 patrons, and everyone was in the same boat. There was a bartender as well, and he eventually began pitching in to work the rest of the restaurant. Clearly, they were remarkably understaffed for a huge sporting event, and while I certainly commiserate with the staff trying to handle the situation, it was a pretty epic disaster. We tried at one point to get some pitchers to help the service situation, but were told by the server they were out of draft beer (later we got a different story, the issue was they only had a handful of pitchers). We also couldn't leave at any point, because they took our credit cards when we arrived hours earlier. I didn't get to order and eat any food (or a second round for that matter) until over 3 hours into the evening at some point during the fourth quarter. We all certainly would've spent a lot more at this establishment if they had been staffed properly, as I'm sure would've everyone else. And while perhaps some people might wonder if a Monday night game was the issue (even if it was a national championship), I will further note that my friend spoke with the manager before making our reservation for 20 people and was told they could handle it. **He called a few more times during the week beforehand to ensure this.** So honestly, that feels like a choice. read more

The food was definitely decent. For a bar, but wow was the service absolutely atrocious. There was no one in there and I went to the bar to get a drink and we were told to go back to our tables and wait to be served, it had been 30 minutes till we had talked to a server. I have been here over 10 times and the staff is rude everytime. This will be my last time, we tipped 12% for their awful service and on the way out we were told "you should eat at McDonalds next time if you only tip that much". This story ends with the server running outside after we left to flip us off the double bird, screaming around other patrons and passers-by for us to "Never come back here again!!". It doesn't get less classy, so 1 star for Kentucky Inn due to that horrific experience. This was on 1/22/22 for the NFC divisional game. The Story: Kentucky Inn was one on the list of our rounds of Packers bars in Denver. Becky was there who I met while scoping out the place a few days earlier (she was a patron, not working) I said hi and we chatted. She was helping customers find seats not "on the clock", great behavior of an employee! Things went terribly wrong from there. The server that came to our table was behaving badly emotionally, she didn't seem to be happy or wanting to be there, working. She was unpleasant in the way she spoke to us. We came in so happy and excited and the staff there literally ruined our vibe. Whatever is wrong with you, that's not our problem. We shouldn't, as strangers and customers, have to be your punching bags. Plus it's busy, you're a Packer bar -- knowing it's the playoffs! We got our own water from a bucket in the back of the room - noting it's one less job for them to do! My first beverage was great, it was a Manhattan Rye from their menu. Nice and boozy, great price. The first server mentioned she wasn't going to keep waiting on us, so we had no problem with that due to her poor demeanor! The next server seemed better, but it got worse, unfortunately. She stopped checking on us. There was a backroom behind us with a table, multiple stools, and a pool table. I'm guessing since they stopped doing their jobs, that entire side room cleared out well before the game was over and I saw several Packer shirts, so I'm sure they had planned to stay (see pic). My next Manhattan Rye must've been made by someone else because the color and taste were completely different. Whatever, I drank it, but, the first was better. It was a looong time before the server had come back. At least 20-25 minutes. So, finally, I went to the bar to order because I was hungry and thirsty. Our server was behind the bar along with our initial server. I guess people at the bar are getting the best, most attentive service? Not really fair to everyone there. I went to her to order and she totally REFUSED to take it. I couldn't believe it, still can't. As a former bar/restaurant worker myself, I don't get it. I'm doing the walk for you, I'm making it easier for you to do your job so that I can purchase more from this establishment, yet you refuse me? Wow. She said to go back to my table and she will take my order there. Honestly, I wish I'd have grabbed some cash and walked up and tried that. She also said the guy who was the food runner, could also have taken orders. How would I know? The guy never asked us anything or indicated that he'd take orders so I'm confused by her comment. It took her another at least 15 minutes to actually come to our table again. She really took her sweet time. Why? How does this benefit her? I ordered a mushroom flatbread and another drink, sure to get a double since I have no idea when she'll decide to show back up. My friends order a drink and ask about the churros ordered 35-40 mins ago. The server said they were "defrosting". In retrospect, this was a red flag to cancel the order. The churros come out, finally, and they were the whitest brown I've ever seen a churro look before (there is a pic from another Yelper, Heather, showing them). My friend tried them anyway and they were completely inedible. She sent them back. My other friend ordered a dessert martini on the menu, which never showed up. My mushroom flatbread came out without any mozzarella cheese and someone dumped a ton of salt on the mushrooms. I told the server about the missing cheese and she repeated "there's no cheese?" as I picked up a slice from the meal sitting right in front of her to demonstrate the missing cheese at a closer vantage point. I couldn't hear what she said (lots of loud people + mask) but 10-15 mins later another flatbread showed up with the mozzarella and bonus it had less salt. We get the check and it's wrong. My friend explains. Next bill comes and it's wrong. Repeat. Two of us are paying with cash, one with card. She separates the card bill with the two cash bills. What's unbelievable is that when she separates them, the total somehow increases from the original bill. We explain and she still wants us to pay the inflated price. What? How can we even deal with this lack of logic? At this point I'm ready not to tip at all it's just getting SO bad. Instead, we tip about 10% which is GENEROUS given the service we received. Her 10% tip is what caused her to run outside flipping us off and yelling to "never come back". That was more than she deserved and regardless, you don't get to respond like that if you don't like the tip. These were older, more mature women serving us, but so immature!! read more

Went to the Kentucky Inn to watch the game and have a burger. The place was packed but fun. We ordered some nachos but got persuaded into some kind of tater tots with green chili. We got grease filled tots with fried cheese Kurds some mystery meat and some salsa on top! RFK jr. would not be pleased! haha Then came the mushroom Swiss burger or should I say the arugula burger...I ordered it medium and it was well done with maybe two mushrooms but plenty of arugula. True dive bar vibes here with some fun & chill customers to talk with. The bar area is big enough to sit with your friends or significant other while also being able to meet some awesome people. They have 2 dart boards that are pretty well kept, but the markers don't work, so don't expect to be able to keep track of the score if you're going to play darts. They have amazing food! The Mac & cheese is absolutely to die for & reasonably priced for the portion size; only 7.50 but they do charge extra for add ons. Not giving 5 stars due to the fact that the lady behind the bar was rude to us & not polite at all throughout the night & it was only about 9pm when we were there & it wasn't even super crowded. Yes, this is a great neighborhood sports bar and, yes, the kitchen does a great job serving a varied and interesting menu. But, I have to echo a couple of negative reviews here on Yelp regarding dismal service. We were a party of four on a busy night and were left ungreeted and unserved for 40 minutes before one of the only two employees served us. The only other employee actually seemed to go out of his way to ignore us and avoid eye contact in a gruff and unfriendly manner that created an almost confrontational atmosphere. We needed to politely wave for any more visits to our table and each time received only reluctant drink refills. It's important to note here that friends and I have repeatedly seen this happen at the Kentucky Inn. I wouldn't write a review like this if it were just a one off experience. Here's the part of the review where I express sympathy for an overworked staff and how all servers work for tips from often grateful and overly needy patrons. All of that is true but it's also true that there is an unspoken agreement between the management of a restaurant and the public that an adequate staff is at least attempted to be hired. This place makes no attempt and seems to blatantly refuse to provide adequate service. Please hire some additional help. read more

Do not expect service during any Packers games! Poorly staffed, bad attitudes and slow service. Their excuse? "We're busy." There were two servers and dwindled down to one server by halftime. I ordered the churros, which is the ONLY dessert item on the menu, and was told they had to defrost. When they finally arrived, they were hard as a rock and tasted freezer burned - I ended up returning them. The quesadilla was actually good and a came in a healthy portion. It came with sour cream and a red and green salsa. The cheese had a nice pull to it and the onions were cooked with the cheese inside the tortilla, nice touch. Drink service...terrible. For a, roughly, three hour game, I only got to order two drinks. If you want to try this place out, make sure there aren't any games on. You might get better, and more prompt, service. read more

Update 2.4.22 - spoke to the owner Jimmy. He filled my ear on all the issues with KY Inn and how he was stuck with it. Told me he would follow up with Becca, the GM (who was there the night we were) and would call me back, with her on the line, to discuss. That was over 2 weeks ago and heard nothing back. Stopped in his other bar to follow up and left a message, no response. Apparently the bad service and trashy waitstaff are tolerated up to the ownership level. Was so excited to try this place for a Packer play off game. Complete disappointment. Our first sever was surly and made it clear that it was the end if her shift and she was done. We asked for water and were directed to a fill your own. Fine, except it was inaccessible behind a seated table. Ordered food and drinks - WI burger and Quesadilla. Burger had NO flavor. Quesadilla was okay. When we asked for silverware and napkins the runner rolled his eyes, went to get them and just dropped them on the table. First round of drinks were good - WI old fashioned and one of their specialty whiskey drinks. Waited to order more food and drinks, waited and waited. The server, Red, would go to the table in front of us and to her side and actively ignore us. My friend finally went to the bar to order and was turned away and told to wait for the server. She finally showed up 20 or so minutes later and we ordered. We also noticed that the five people in the back area walked out after they were there 30 min, never got service and were turned away, like us, at the bar. Asked about the churros ordered 30 min previously and were told they were being thawed. When they finally came out 10 - 15 min later they were freezer burned and inedible. My friend's Flatbread was missing cheese, a key ingredient, which should have been obvious to the server had she taken 5 seconds to look at the order before bringing it to us. The dish was also VERY salty. I never got my drink at all. The evening end was just as much of a joke. She ignored us again for another 30 min. Had to finally corner her at the staff station to get our check. Told her to make sure I not get charged for the drink I never got. Her response was just "oh, you never got it?" No sorry, nothing. She asked if we wanted separate and I said yes. She comes over 10 min later, slams it on the table and said she didn't separate it because it was too much work. My friend paying with card wrote which items were hers and the other two of us were paying cash. 15 min later she comes back over and says the amounts don't add up for the card. She had put items on it that we had not noted. Our amended check was also $14 more. I told her that she put additional items on the card and pointed out the amounts of the two new checks were more than our original check. She got snotty, said she got it after we kept repeating what was wrong on the check and tried to rip it out of my friend's hand. I then had to run after her to the bar and show her, again, why the check was wrong, after she stomped away. We had initially left a 15% tip but after the check debacle we dropped it to 10% and left. Given she is already making $15 to $20 an hour, pre tip, it was still generous. She apparently beelined to our table when we left because she knew how bad she was and wanted to check her tip. We were 3/4 of a block down when she comes out screaming at us to never come back, flipping us off and calling us names. Completely unprofessional and gross. Despite the lack of service and constant issues we were nice, never got mad or even irritated until the check issue. Why she expected a huge tip is beyond me. I never disliked the Packers. Well, unless they were playing the Dolphins! But when your new girlfriend is from Wisconsin, guess what? You become a die-hard Packers fan! She did a little research and found that the Kentucky Inn is rooted in all things Wisconsin so off we go to watch the Packers play! Located on Pearl, there is always a spot to park on the street. Luckily we arrived early and grabbed a table. It does fill up during game so you have been warned! Omergosh. Fried cheese curds. I think I could have eaten 5 baskets then gone into a food coma! I have walked and driven by here many times but finally decided to stop in with a friend last week. It wasn't empty, but also not so packed and loud that you can't have a conversation. (We went at 6pm on a Friday.) I'm not a big drinker, so I was glad that although they're a bar, they also have a diverse menu. I had a basic burger and was excited to see that they allow one to have a side salad instead of fries at no extra charge! So many restaurants charge something like $3 extra to sub a salad for fries and I was so happy that Kentucky Inn doesn't do that. The burger was fantastic - quality meat and I could tell by the shape and taste that it wasn't just a frozen patty. Side note: my friend and I were initially greeted by one person who was wearing an apron, making it obvious she was a server. She also brought us water. However, when we were still perusing the menu, we were approached by a man who was not wearing an apron who asked us if we wanted anything else to drink. We gave him a weird look and a short response because we weren't sure if he worked there. Then we saw him bringing food and drinks to other tables, realized that he did in fact work there, and apologized to him next time he came to our table. I used to pick up the Bus to Baker Middle School in front of this place when I was kid - we'd be in back packs and slacks and fools would be falling out this place - if you didn't have donut money you'd be in the cold with Wash Parks finest- so im not surprised to get some attitude when I only order a soda water at first - and I'm also not surprised I get the deliberate - hand washed plastic kids soda cup - lime not an option. This had been a nice place for years, before and after the remodel. I've come for both random occasions and for some Packers games, and it has been pleasant, with even good food, and decent service, except about a year ago I did have an odd run-in with a foul-mouthed long dark-brown (or black) haired middle aged server/bartender (with big, trashy exposed arm tattoos). Tonight, she ended up "serving" us at the bar, taking her time to get our beer order, and taking much longer to later to take what we wanted to be a simple chips/guacamole appetizer plus two new beers. She protested that the chips would take over 45 minutes (what?), and when I noted this was a little strange to my wife, this lady bartender took my head off. I defended my ordinary comment and she continued to eviscerate and berate me, inventing the notion that I'm somehow "entitled"... for wondering why a place that hasn't had this problem before, who competes against places that don't have this problem, is this backed up. We were actually thinking that they might have been short staffed, and were going to settle for just two more beers before getting food elsewhere, but this angry lady bartender kept talking to us like we were her lowly employees, with plenty of barking and yelling to make some sort of "point." I told her we didn't work for her, and she asserted, "I don't work for you either," to which I replied: "that is totally clear" (who else should she be ultimately working for, besides reasonable paying customers who just want to have the advertised/known experience and pay full price?... what is "entitled" about this?). We decided not only not to order food, but to not order the next round of beers, pay the minimum bill, and get out right away with a resolve to not come back, despite us being occasional customers for years and living within walking distance for well over a decade.
