The Keep is an excellent ice cream shop right on Mendon Road. I enjoyed their gelato flavors and the indoor seating available.

A great desert spot. The decor is fine, but the food is fantastic. The entire space is filled with the smell of fresh-made waffles for their waffle cones/bowls. They're perfectly sugared and have a wonderful flavor that pairs with their home made Ice Cream. I had the Peppermint Patty, which had nice big pieces of the candy with a deliciously minty ice cream. My wife had the 'everything' ice cream which is a bit like Ben and Jerry's half baked... but with more cookies and brownies smashed in. Finally, we finished our indulgence with a fresh baked brownie which was cocoa-ey with a fantastic texture. read more

Ice cream is excellent. There was a line when I got there but the girls behind the counter were efficient, quick and friendly. Place was very busy! read more

Ice cream is homemade and super fresh. Amazing flavors. The Honey Bee was superb - not too sweet with the right balance of honey and vanilla. Peanut Butter Chocolate was a great balance of super chocolatey ice cream and giant chunks of peanut butter. Salted caramel has just the right burnt flavor for the caramel. All the flavors were sophisticated and delicious! Great stop and fun eclectic decor inside. read more

Easily the best ice cream I've ever had. All home made salted caramel chocolate crunch? Incredible! I sampled the honey too which tasted so much like honey I wasn't sure if it was ice cream. The bowls were environmentally conscious. They were making what I thought were ice cream pies but they were actually 2 giant scoop sundaes. Not the cheapest scoop but for a few cents more than average, the best is worth it. I think their regular scoop, which is quite large, was $4.15. Come on, we don't even complain about a $7 beer anymore. read more

Greatest ice cream I've ever had! All homemade and the service is superb! The Keep is THE BEST Ice Cream in Rhode Island!

Always look forward to sampling a new flavor they've created! Wonderful customer service and an all around enjoyable experience from start to finish. Highly recommend those homemade waffle cones! read more

Best ice cream ever! I tell everyone about it. It's homemade and portions are huge. They have amazing flavors. My favorite is the honey bee ice cream in in-house made waffle cone. It is worth the drive! read more

OMG! Best handcrafted ice cream joint in town and in souronding towns. They have a cute set up, couches, games, beautiful tin like ceiling with appealing decor. Very comfortable to sit down in with family and enjoy some of the best ice cream on their homemade waffle cones. read more

IM OBSSSESSED. Love the chocolate ice cream here so rich so good. I dream about it at night

The Keep is amazing! There is a nice ambiance, medieval. There is a big round table where people sometimes are playing some game and there are some different kinds of tables. There is a couch close to the window. The ice cream is just AMAZING! The honey ice cream has little crunchy pieces of honey. Salted caramel is also delicious. All fresh homemade ice cream, ice cream cone, whipped cream. It is not cheap because it is fresh and not full of preservatives. It is comfortable, cozy and delicious. We bring the kids there as a reward for good behavior. They close during the winter and come back in April. We always look forward to it. We are counting the days!. (The servings are big!) read more

Homemade waffle cones! Cold creamy decadent ice cream(I think it's homemade also)!! Cool and unique ambience! Recently went there on a blazing hot day and got a waffle cone with blueberry cheesecake and maple walnut ice cream. Absolutely amazing!! I thoroughly enjoyed my ice cream as I sat on the comfy couch with the a/c blowing. The lady who served me was very nice! They also have a self serve water station!! So glad I tried this place! This will be one of my hot spots for the summer!!! read more

Always love The Keep! Flavors are innovative such as the honey flavor--my favorite! The homemade recipes are amazing. Love that they offer gluten free vibes in high sugar and waffle cones. Also dairy free ice cream. My mother craved the mocha dairy free ice cream that was made with coconut milk. Let's face it, all their ice cream is cravable!! read more

We live right up the street and are here All. The. Time. They let you try all of the flavors - honey bee and game of cones are my favorite! They also have a blueberry cheesecake flavor. And I get it with hot fudge. So good! They also have seating and board games. Go check it out!! P.s. Shawn R's review is bull. They fresh squeeze the oranges for their orangesickle flavor. read more

So so decadent. Everything is made from scratch and you can tell this is a passion for the owner & chef. They never disappoint. Also, having ice cream in pints to enjoy from home is also a great option!! read more

Best ice cream in Rhode Island! Great selection of flavors. Service is always friendly. Well worth the trip.

This is the best ice cream that I have had in Rhode Island. It really is home made and you can taste it. I used to be a Brickleys devotee but this is my new favorite. The flavors are so original. The Sweet Honey Bee is unlike anything I have ever tasted. It has bits of honeycomb which gives it a nice crunch and chew. The Mango Lassi is another flavor that is out of this world! So good! I can't say enough good things about this place. The Salted Caramel Crunch has toffee chocolate saltine pieces, the kind of "crack" you make at Christmas. So genius! Go here! I live about 20 min away and it is SO worth the trip. read more

This place is AMAZING! Why wait in long crazy lines outside this summer when you can enjoy the DELICIOUS homemade ice cream of the Keep at any time! This is by far some of the most delicious ice cream i've ever had! Not to mention the homemade baked goods and dairy and gluten free options! Even the ingredients in the ice creams are homemade! Adorable castle like decor and its never overcrowded! BEST PLACE EVER! read more

Very nice staff, decent selection of Ice cream and reasonable prices. They offer dairy free ,gluten free, and lactaid pills at no extra charge. The people that work there are insanely nice, and as someone who is always inexplicably parched after eating ice cream, having self-serve water available for free is another great plus! read more

Way different than your usual ice cream place. Not only is the Ice cream rich, creamy, and delicious but they don't skimp on the real ingredients that are mixed in (think chunks of chocolate mint candy in the peppermint patty, brownie pieces and fudge swirl in the fudge brownie.) The atmosphere is sort of medieval, not quite sure how it ties in to ice cream but whatevs it was cool and original. Prices are higher than your average place but you can't complain, the ice cream is homemade and high quality and the portions are huge. On a recent Saturday night things were starting to pick up around 7 pm, really hope this place makes it!!! read more

Their ice cream is phenomenal! Love the creative flavor variations! This is definitely my local go-to and I've had ice cream all over this country including top names. My favorite flavors have been their cereal milk and honey bee. Looking forward to them opening in the Spring! read more

Best homemade ice cream we have ever had. My family favorites are the kaylabee honey, chocolate chip cookie dough and the triple chocolate ice cream. Try them all, ask for samples! They are more than willing to oblige read more

Recently moved to Cumberland and have been to The Keep three times now. The Keep has very interesting decor (I'm assuming it hasn't always been an ice cream store) and lots of room to stretch out and relax. They even have a section with chess and a coffee-store style lounge area with comfy chairs and couches. But, more importantly, the ice cream is delicious! Very unique flavors and they make it all from scratch in the store. Sort of pricey, but the ice cream is very rich and flavorful, so getting once scoop is definitely satisfying (and I can usually eat LOTS of ice cream). Also very environmentally friendly, which is always nice to see this day and age. Highly recommend. read more

Went to the Keep with my family, by far the best ice cream I have ever had. I ordered the Kayla Bee Honey with local honey I definitely recommend this. My husband had the vanilla bean in a homemade waffle cone, a return trip is a must. read more

The best ice cream in Cumberland!! As soon as you walk in the smell of waffle cone hits ya instantly your in love

This is our second time here! Absolutely fabulous ! I have been telling everyone and will definitely be back!

A major disappointment. After reading the dozens of positive reviews, I was at least expecting subpar ice cream. As I walked in I was immediately stunned by the medieval aesthetic which doesn't make any sense for an ice cream parlor. Then again, I'm here for the ice cream and not the design. I went with their best seller, honey and my wife went with game of cones - cool name as it relates to Game if Thrones. Although, prices were relatively high for ice cream - one scoop $4.15. But if it's premium and handmade, I don't mind paying a premium price. But to find out, "handmade" is a very loosely used term. This ice cream was nothing more than vanilla with day old ingredients folded in. It was flavorless and I couldn't come close to justifying its price. As I said, a major disappointment and I will not be returning. I would of been better off going to another local ice cream spot that serves the typical, garbage Hershey brand ice cream. If you want something that is lightyear's above Rhode Island's rest, Three sisters on Hope street is a must. Do yourself a favor, and drive the extra five minutes. read more

This is my new favorite ice cream spot. Everything is homemade on site and they even have gluten free cones (which are amazing). I would definitely recommend the peanut butter chocolate or the honey ice cream which is made with real local honey! Amazingly clean and creative atmosphere. read more

The best homemade ice cream around! The ice cream is always fresh with homemade ingredients mixed in. I prefer the homemade waffle cone with one huge scoop. My husband also loves the handmade shakes! I've tried many flavors and haven't tried one I didn't like! This hidden gem on Mendon Road in Cumberland is a MUST try if you love high quality, homemade ice cream! read more

Great little sweets shop. Tasty ice cream. Made there in house. Flavors change too except for the common ones. Can get a pint to keep at home too. Definitely recommend stopping in if you are craving ice cream. read more

Ice cream is good but is WAY overpriced. No one that works there is happy or smiling. They just do their job but don't smile. The owner gives you half as much ice cream as her staff does when you place the same order. She also seems miserable. read more

Local girl, using local ingredients. She's also a beekeeper and uses her own honey in her honey ice cream. I'm not sure I've ever eaten an ice cream more delicious, I haven't stopped thinking about it since having a cone three nights ago. It's out of this world. read more

Ice cream was great, happy they have dairy free flavors. A little pricey. But what a strange place! Odd furnishings and decor, you would never know it's an ice cream shop. Maybe that's part of the charm? read more

Amazing service and delicious ice cream!!! Would recommend the honey, Oreo, and black raspberry ice cream. They didn't have any black raspberry out and my grandpa asked if they had any in the back. They brought it out for him with a huge smile. So nice of them to do this!!! The hot fudge is homemade and out of this world. read more

BEST ice cream in RI....quite possibly in the Northeast. Indoors (unique atmosphere), homemade ice cream with unique flavors. Many toppings made in house- hot fudge is to die for. Must try flavors: coffee oreo, chocolate chip, almond joy, honey bee and orange sherbet. Waffle cones and bowls are great add-ons. read more

Preposterously good icecream! And is all medievil themes inside. Definitely worth the trip.

Quality was very good. Pricing was questionable. Three small (one scoop), one in a waffle cone, two in dishes. Should be $3.65 each plus $1.50 for waffle cone, plus tax. I was charged $14.65, which means I was charged over $1.00 for jimmies? If a charge for jimmies was posted, I did not see it. It seems like a lot of money for what we got. So many good ice cream choices around, we are one and done with The Keep. Also, a customer brought a meal from the pizza place next door to eat while his companion enjoyed ice cream and all we could smell was fish. read more

These people are mad scientists, or to be more in keeping with the fun theming, wizards! Tonight I had the honor of being the first customer to try a new flavor...tahini! It was as delicious as it was surprising. Definitely worth stopping in to see what's new. read more
