Just imagine going to your new home COVID gym and not knowing whether your gut is shrinking or your biceps are growing because you have NO MIRROR in your gym. Naturally, you won't want to go to your gym in this condition. Anyone who's been to a proper gym knows that mirrors are everywhere to 1) remind you that most of us SHOULD NOT be wearing spandex all the time and 2) show you how good your arms look when lighting is strategically placed and you lift your arm at just the right angle and 3) help you check out all the other spandex-laden people so you can compare yourself to them. To be fair, the lack of mirrors and inability to admire or scorn myself was not the only reason I was not making it to my COVID gym. About 5 years ago, I moved to a new West Seattle home. It turns out that my fancy house with the fancy view of the port and the steel plant and the West Seattle bridge is the LOUDEST PLACE ON EARTH. In case you didn't know, steel plants operate 24/7 and trains go to and from the port ALL NIGHT, apparently operated by disgruntled workers who enjoy honking their train horns at ungodly hours when no one should be awake. Happily, the West Seattle Bridge during COVID is the quietest it's been since I arrived in my home, which I'm adding to the story in case my readers think I'm not able to find positivity or silver linings. To make a short story unnecessarily long, I needed a more soundproof window to help eliminate the noise and allow me to get restorative rest that would help prepare me for my upcoming gym visits.
