I was trying to find a nice hair salon closer to my house so I decided to give this place a try. I showed up when I thought I made the appointment for. There was another customer that walked in just in front of me and she sat in awaiting area. I asked her if there was a receptionist and she said she just text her stylist to let her know she was there. I had never been there before and didn't request a particular person. Also, no phone number like that was provided to me. I looked around and could only find two staff members in the middle of cutting other people's hair. They have no receptionist and were completely ignoring me. After walking around the front and side entrance area for about 15 minutes someone finally came out. She apologized saying that she thought I was friends with the other lady and that's why she didn't check on me. She went to look up my appointment and found that it was supposed to be the week prior somehow. she was nice enough to make me an appointment for the following week and I was not charged that other deposit. When I came back the following week for my appointment, the stylist was about 10 minutes late and took forever to cut my hair. It's a simple haircut and took an entire hour without washing or styling. She also took a couple phone calls from her daughter during my appointment and apologized multiple times stating that was out of the ordinary. She was very nice but I would not come back here. During my first visit, I noticed a sign on the front entrance that there was absolutely no children allowed. When I was waiting to be helped, I noticed there was a child about eight years old that seemed to be one of the stylists' children that was in the main work area watching cartoons while people are getting their haircut. This is not a professional salon. I was really hoping this would be a good place. It was a similar haircut to what I received at Great Clips but took four times as long.

I was mostly going for the relaxation and this experience definitely delivers. I made an appointment online and then went to TCG's location in the Hourglass District. They did send a note beforehand, saying what to expect, how to show up (with unwashed hair), and to not show up too far in advance as they have limited seating. It is a small location and in addition to the Headspa, they are a full service Aveda Hair salon. There are two Headspa scalp analysis stations at the front as well as two Headspa beds in the back. The description did say that there may be other guests in the same room as you and when I arrived, someone else had already started her experience but it was fine. It really didn't impact my experience at all. Abigail had me sit at the scalp analysis station and then asked me questions about my hair and scalp, as well as how much pressure I preferred for massages (the 60 minute experience includes a leg massage, a hand massage and of course the head massages throughout), and what temperature I like the water. She then had me pick which essential oils scent I would like - I chose bergamot and lavender - which would permeate the experience. Abigail viewed my scalp through a magnifying camera and showed that I had product residue on my scalp all along the bottom of the hair shafts. I then changed into a robe and got on one of the Headspa beds. I was covered with blankets as well as a weighted blanket and it was so relaxing already. Abigail then covered my eyes and started working on my scalp and hair. To be honest, I really have no idea what she did, LOL, but it felt great! There were a few tools that really massaged my scalp as well as several different products. During the session, she massaged my legs as well as moisturized and massaged my hands. Then it was time for the cold rinse of my hair and my session was, sadly, over. When we returned to the magnifying camera, I was amazed at how shiny and clean my scalp was! Abigail then put in a detangler and brushed my hair. My hair is too short for braids but a simple braid is included if your hair is long enough. Not included is a blow dry, as that is a separate cost, but my hair was just slightly damp so I was fine. This is a great experience and I will definitely do it again.

When I reached out to have it fixed, the stylist (Jessica) attempted a "root touch-up," which only made things worse--the top half of my hair ended up a completely different color from the bottom, with strong orange tones. When I contacted the salon again, the director (Lisa Reule) was unapologetic and only offered for me to return a third time so they could "fix" it. At that point, I had lost all confidence in their ability and went to Mosaic Salon instead, where they were able to repair the damage. Mosaic has always done beautiful work for me, and this experience reminded me it's worth the extra drive to go somewhere with real expertise. I do not recommend InStyle Salon, but I highly recommend Mosaic for professional, consistent results.

After having my hair color completely butchered at a different salon, Rameh and the ladies took me under their wing and promised that they could fix it and they delivered. My hairstylist now is Jessica and she is not only a great person to chat with, she's wildly talented AND has become a friend. Lowie is also really great as well. Christine, the owner, is insanely sweet and always finds a way to squeeze me in the books even when I am seriously last minute with my appointment requests. My hair had gone through a lot of damage from attempting to get a balayage done. My hair was fried, brittle and falling out. I had a haircut and they left it straight across my back with no shape whatsoever. I went to a second salon to color my hair back to a dark chocolate brown color and they cut my hair only to leave it uneven! Long parts on the back and short in others. Horrible. I finally found this location which was close by to where I was hunting for a new salon. And GUSTAVO did magic! He knew exactly what he was doing and I could tell right away. He was not scared to tug here and there and was handling my hair was such confidence. He wasn't afraid to get in there and even out the mess I walked in with. He layered my hair beautifully and didn't cut it any shorter than it already was. Ruthie and her team have gone to great lengths to ensure Mikah Salon is a safe and welcoming environment. I've been extremely hesitant to go anywhere outside of the bare essentials right now, but before I even entered the building I was reassured of the precautions they're taking by a sign on the door. It clearly stated that masks were required, as was hand washing and having your temperature taken immediately upon entering. After using hand sanitizer and having my temperature taken inside, I did not have to wait in close proximity to others. Rather, I was taken directly to my salon chair that had a sign stating it had just been cleaned and sanitized for my use. From there out I experienced the same high quality of service I know I can expect from Ruthie! She didn't touch my hair until we had discussed at length what I was hoping for, and that's exactly the haircut I left with! They have tons of service options and offer special touches - like a glass of champagne on purchases over $50 I got a simple gel manicure and the technician was so kind, talkative, and engaging. The manicure came with a hand massage (and not just the ""hand massage" that most salons advertise - this was a REAL, long, relaxing hand massage). The manicure ended with a paraffin wax treatment. Prior to this, I had never hear of a paraffin wax treatment, but boy was it something I'll never forget - it reminded me of dipping my finger in warm wax as a kid and peeling it off. The joy and satisfaction was just the same! Except this left my hand feeling soft and supple. It was also very fun to watch it get peeled off. It's been 5 1/2 weeks since I had my manicure done and it still looks perfect save the portion of my new nail that's grown in.
