They have a load of activities that she goes to and I think that's going to keep her mind sharper much longer than if she was still living alone. She goes to Mahjong, exercise classes, live music and recitals, plus a lively happy hour each Friday. Most of the folks there are so vibrant, coming from all over the US and different countries. They also have "armchair astronomy" classes and various lectures. The staff are caring, pleasant, and helpful. Dawn and Ralph, the managers, do a great job. I'm so glad we found this place. Mom was hesitant to go live there and she recently told me how much better her life is now that she's with other people.

First of all I'd like to say that the Clairmont is doing a pretty good job but could do better. I…read morehave had trouble with the billing department getting back to me. There was a problem with the facility apartment insurance request. I paid and submitted the forms about a month prior to move-in and the first bill over 6 weeks later included a fee for not having insurance. I tried contacting the billing office and requested a call back to get things clarified. This did not happen and the problem was not fixed. I again went to Francine who has been my anchor at the Clairmont to get problems fixed. I finally received approval of the policy on October 17th but I had submitted the information in early August! In addition the bill itself was incorrect. The dinning room food has improved, per my father, but the utensils are still awful! I do wish your administrative staff would try using the forks at the facility and imagine that they have arthritis in their hands as these residents frequently do. My dad does better with most plastic forks than the forks supplied at the Clairmont. Please, this should be an easy upgrade. One thing we really appreciate is the ability to have a pet and to have a fenced "yard" area outside of their apartment. I think this adds a homey feel for many of the residents. Better water access would be a plus for those with outside plants. You have outside waste bins for doggy waste but no plastic bags at the one outside of the building for the last 6 weeks. Your showers do not have safety bars inside of the shower, Since most of the residents at this facility use walkers, canes or wheelchairs, why do you think it unnecessary to have a safety bar inside of the shower? This would be a considerate and wise upgrade for the apartments. Overall, we (the family) really like this facility and the people who live and work there. My Dad is still adjusting......

Infected employees were not immediately removed from duty, isolated, or replaced. There was no proper quarantine, masking enforcement, contact tracing, or notification to residents or their families. This exposed vulnerable senior residents, many with underlying medical conditions, to serious risk of illness. The staff were not given proper PPE or guidance on usage of PPE The Executive Director is an arrogant rude unprofessional disrespectful clown and a disgusting jerk who treats his staff especially in Assisted living as dirt. The food is unhygienic, bland and not worth for human consumption and the kitchen is infested with roaches and bugs. Unfortunately the dietary needs of residents are not taken in consideration. The hallways smell of urine and stale mold The elevator has been broken and non functional multiple times in Assisted living. Not to mention flooding of rooms is common during any rains.. The maintainance is equally despicable and pathetic.. and very slow to respond or too careless to respond.¹ This facility is not worth any negative stars.

That is still the case and I especially enjoy eating with my friends. Our menus are varied with many healthy options. We have an extensive salad bar, daily choice of soup, and three entrees to select from (plus desserts). If nothing appeals, we have the option of ordering something from the "Always Available Menu" which includes such items as grilled chicken or fish, hamburgers, grilled cheese sandwich, etc. We even have vegetarian options which started in response to resident requests. There is a wide variety of activities and exercise programs to keep us busy, interested and healthy. I also appreciate having transportation provided now that I've sold my car. Our driver tries very hard to get me to all my appointments as I don't have the option to use Uber due to my use of a mobility scooter.

I enjoy visiting the residents. I have seen firsthand how committed the Atria team is to offer meaningful activities for its residents and adapting when challenges arise such as inclement weather. The facility supports a diverse schedule of activities - on premises, external field trips and social gatherings. Recently, they have undergone some renovation - carpet replacement, painting, replacement of furniture and artwork. Today, some additional renovation was being done in the lobby floor and the front desk was very helpful in sharing an alternative path. The excuse given was the pandemic. The food was poor quality and residents frequently waited 30-45 to get waited on because there was not adequate wait staff. The tables are so crowded together (because the Enclave couldn't or wouldn't hire enough wait staff to open the other dining room) that it was dangerous for residents using walkers or scooters to navigate between them. Thank goodness my mom did not need any assistance in her apartment. She was mobile and able to take her own medications. There was CONSTANT turnover in all areas including management. We gave 30 day notice, moved Mom to Brookdale (wonderful!)in June and now are fighting for the 1/2 month refund we are due. The incompetence at this facility is truly unbelievable. Don't move your loved one here!

Six months later, they notified us that rent was going up 14%. This is the Austin market -- rent increases are a fact of life! But when your entire demographic is on a fixed income, raising the rent at all six months in, much less by more than ten percent, suggests a certain disregard for the types of decisions that families make for eldercare. Nobody ever likes rent increases and we've always been accustomed to getting one each year in previous facilities. But as the Enclave collects a tidy 'community fee' of $2,500 when you move in, they have incentive to turn rooms over. I quote the outgoing director: "While I hope (your dad) will be able to stay here, I certainly understand if a change is needed based on finances." In other words: We'd like somebody else's community fee. A shame, because the people on the ground doing the work are good and the facility charges otherwise pretty reasonable rates. It'd just be nice if they stuck to them for more than six months.
