The skin wasn't rendered down properly making it like rubber. You could still see the white fat and wasn't crispy at all. It wasn't even brown. It was a huge letdown. The wild rice had no flavor and strawberry sauce added nothing. Was told cheese cake was great, but it wasn't even cheesecake. It was a cheesecake crust with a custard center. The industrial is probably the best restaurant in rock falls. It's a hidden gem- it doesn't look like much from the outside. The food is good- not fine dining but a solid filet with good pasta dishes with rotating choice veggies or potatoes. The service is great- staff are very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is a standard large room with tables so nothing very special about it, but the lighting is warm and friendly enough to feel welcomed. Wine glass pours are pretty large so you get great value for your money there! The pear martini is also fantastic. Great happy hour opportunities and upscale dining in rural Illinois. A quick jaunt across an empty lot from the Holiday Inn, the restaurant attached to McCormick Event Center is a friendly and relaxed venue to enjoy an upscale meal. Add in my Candlelight rewards points and I'm all in to return! My first visit I chose to dine only on appetizers; they did not disappoint (see pictures). Personally, I would err on the side of the seafood options (which is a strange recommendation for a land locked, midwestern establishment). The SCALLOPS and SHRIMP were the best out of all of 'em! Wine is typically $8 to $10 a glass, and the tender I had delivered a healthy pour. If you're into signature cocktails, your pocketbook will also enjoy the 4-6 p.m. happy hour menu which offers 'em half off. My second visit I went all in on the DUCK BREAST and BRUSCHETTA. The duck was cooked well and served in slices over a seasoned rice medley. I had asked to skip the rice for BRUSSELS SPROUT side (which they brought anyway), but I'm glad I did. Food is excellent yet a bit pricey. Service was also excellent. Except the hostess was a little unfriendly, my 92 year old mother walked in first, so she sat her in the bar area, keeping her away from the dining area. That didn't sit well with me. But over all, the food was very good. read more

I was out in the hinterlands visiting blood, and they recommended we come here. It was an excellent decision. Duck breast is succulent and tender, and a must order. The halibut is meaty and delicious, if a tad firm. Meatballs and Shrimp Scampi are tasty starters. Finish with the grasshopper cheesecake and bourbon on the rocks. Cocktails are strong and delicious, and all liquor pours are cheap and heavy, words that bring tears of joy to many a noble bourbon boozer. It truly is a thing of beauty. The one puzzler is the wine selection - there barely is one. The "Reserve" list has only four reds, all under $70. Get the Malbec, its a lovely marriage of earth and fruit. The decor is industrial-light. A little bare bones, as if the money ran out, and a bit too bright. The walls are painted a bland beige, which reflects lighting and drains atmosphere. A romantic destination, this is not. Be advised that they charge a 3% fee for credit card purchases, and don't advertise that fact beforehand. At least not so I could have seen it. read more

First of all Bryan was our waiter. He was wonderful and colorful and gave great recommendations. We started with the bacon bourbon scallops. Delicious doesn't start to cover it. We had the rib-eye and the duck. Mmmmmm so scrumptious!! Perfectly cooked and flavorful. We finished the Andes mint cheesecake. We should've started with it. Holy man. So so yummy. I had the steak , salad and steamed vegetables, the steak was cooked well it had a little bit of gristle overall experience was good, service was good I think they need additional servers because our appetizer was not received due to multiple tables at the time we arrived. We started out for another restaurant but they were closed. We are SO glad we came here. The bruschetta is incredible, the drinks were top notch (highly recommend the Smoked Old Fashioned and the Blackberry Sour!!), and the entrees were absolutely amazing. We had the Rack of Lamb and the Smoked Pork Chop. We will be back again. The service and ambiance are terrific. Do yourself a favor and try this restaurant for dinner. I travel the world, drink and judge the finest wines, eat the best foods, and write about them. Some locals told me that this restaurant would be better than the candlelight claiming that "everything is better than the candlelight." After I arrived, I learned that this is supposed to be a higher-end restaurant, owned by the candlelight. It basically was the candlelight with high prices. The wine list was the worst I have ever seen for a restaurant this expensive --mainly over expensive California fruit-bombs. When I saw a $79 steak on the menu, I thought to myself ' I don't even see these prices in New York City.' Be f$#king real; that was rock Falls and not New York ! My brother-in-law ordered a $25 hamburger. He said that it did not taste any better than a five dollar burger. I couldn't figure out why they would charge $25 for that. It didn't even have a disguise. It was a five-dollar hamburger with the price of $25. I had the scallops. They were OK. Basically they had heat and salinity, but really, no complementary acids. I finally found a lemon wedge underneath the pile. But that really didn't do the job. I have to say that the Oktoberfest beer I had was really good. The waitress was kind and provided the best service she could offer. Basically, this is a less-than average place with a very high-end price. I don't think I will go back next time I am in town. You certainly won't find wines to pair well with the food. This place is a bust. read more

Our party of four enjoyed the ribeye, the New York strip, the duck breast, and the pasta with wagyu meatballs for our entrees. The steaks were over-the-top great quality and cooked perfectly to order. For apps, we had the scallops, seared tuna salad, and hot crab dip and all were also tasty and high quality. Very large appetizer portions! There was also a nice bread, olive oil, and parmesan cheese platter delivered between the apps and entrees. The bar drinks were great. Also, I am gluten-free because of Celiac disease and I had a wonderful safe meal! The wine-by-the-glass list is quite good and the bottle list is small but reasonably priced. The drinks from the bar were outstanding. Service was attentive and drinks were remembered and refilled as asked. Our server and also the Manager checked in on us frequently and we felt so welcome. We were there for a special birthday and all the staff were so great! We enjoyed the "industrial" theme. Nice artwork and open ceilings. Lovely stone bar area. But with the prices maybe a more upscale feel? I was going to give it 4 stars because of this issue, but the food and staff melted my heart and I'm going for 5 stars.
