I wasn't aware this restaurant had opened a couple of months ago until a girlfriend suggested it. We went for dinner and I ordered the Chili Chicken extra hot (spice level 5 out of 5). It was incredible! It was spicy but not just heat, there was so much flavor. We also ordered buttered naan. She had a vegetarian eggplant dish high she really enjoyed. I can't remember the name of it. When I pulled into the parking lot I expected a fast food environment but when we walked in I saw that it had a very warm inviting atmosphere and a sit down restaurant. Our waitress, Angelina, was so personable and professional. I don't have a lot of experience with Indian cuisine so she gave me some helpful regarding the spice level. I think she was a little worried when I ordered it at level 5 that I might need first aid so after she dropped off the food she came back and checked the level of my water frequently. I can't wait to go back. I am not sure if I'll be able to try something else because my dish was so incredible that it may just be my "go to". read more

Grabbed dinner to go from here last night and it was so good! A restaurant with good vegan options in Lake County can be difficult so we appreciated all the different menu options. I got the Chana Masala and my boyfriend got the Alu Gobhi. We both LOVED. I was unsure about the spiciness so I got a level 1 and my boyfriend (who loves spicy foods) got a two. I like a little kick and he said his wasn't too ~bad so we'll both probably up a level next time. I love garlic naan but decided to switch up with an order of the onion and I'm so happy I did. Had my first taste of Indian cuisine last night from The Indian Kitchen in Mentor. Ordered takeout - the Tandoori "Greek" Chicken Kebabs (How it appears on the online menu) and an order of Naan. Had a fun conversation with the person taking the order that convinced me the Greek should really have been "Green". Lo and behold the dish is VERY green indeed! The chicken was moist and good and the naan quickly disappeared on the ride home. The rice that accompanied the Greek kebabs was outstanding too! So glad to have Indian food in Mentor...finally! I have been in for the lunch buffet multiple times and had takeout once. The food has been great every time. I like how they have a lot of variety in the lunch buffet from day to day. It's a good deal too ($11.95). The takeout experience was good except they misunderstood one of the items I ordered. Be sure to have them repeat your order back to you! I'm not usually one to take off stars for service but I had to this time. The male server at the lunch buffet is flat out rude. I was a server myself so I tend to give a lot of leeway. I attribute one bad experience to the person just having a bad day. This day was bad experience number two. I watched how he interacted with other patrons...he behaved the same way as he did with me...rude and dismissive. The buffet is great value with a good selection of meat and vegetarian. We got an evening take out and it's very expensive. Our vegetarian and vegan options were $13.95 each and the one chicken dish was $15.95. The take out bowls were small. The flavors were authentic and amazing. I have never been in a restaurant so apathetic to the customers. They charge sales tax on to go orders, include a tip for themselves then threaten you if prosecution if you commit credit card fraud. I was ignored, my order was set out and no one bothered to tell me it was mine. By the time I checked it was cold. I had shrimp tandoori that had 7 shrimp in it and garlic nan that cost me $30. It's ok I guess. Went here twice, first time got takeout and it was good. But it was like 15.95 for chicken and rice..... So next time I go with a friend who wanted to try, server was nice but you can tell they don't know what the hell is going on. Luckily it was dead and there wasn't much wait. We love the food at The Indian Kitchen. However, they have screwed up our order multiple times now. Forgotten food items, wrong food, and spice level. Once they forgot the rice! My husband gets his order super spicy while I get zero spice. I cannot tell you how annoying it is when they switch the spice level and my meal is so hot I cannot even eat it and my husbands spice level is zero. We have called to complain when they have forgotten our appetizer and they have told us the next time we order they will throw in the free appetizer or whatever item they forgot. They still to this day have not yet credited us even when we have brought it to their attention upon ordering. Great food but, get your stuff together people or you will loose customers! read more

Really pleased that Mentor finally has a new Indian restaurant. We ordered a good sampling of their product and found it to be everything we hoped for. The lamb Biryani was chock full of lamb and very tasty. The butter chicken sauce was excellent. The chicken was very tender, even though it was white meat. Most butter chicken I've had comes from the thigh, but didn't bother me, as it was very tender. We had several other dishes that were very good, as well. Came in on a Monday night around 7 to order food at the bar (no liquor license, but there is a bar and BYO). The waitress was very friendly, but the staff is still obviously getting the hang of their point of sales system. The server warned me it would be 45 minutes before I would get my food. I ordered the channa masala with naan to go, as I wanted to leave the restaurant and come back since they couldn't serve me promptly. I ordered a "1" for spice level, so very mild. Honestly the first time I went here it was amazing now it tastes like there's only one cook cooking in the kitchen And it seems like a lot of corners are being cut. I would still eat the food but I wouldn't pay $20 a plate You're gonna have to change the price to $10 a plate. The lamb dish was definitely not worth it this last time It was full of cartilage and fat There was barely any meat on the lamb. The food was delicious, piping hot and authentic. Our server was very nice and very attentive. The owner kept a well run kitchen and floor. I took my toddler with us and she loved the food as well. We love the food at Indian kitchen and order from here several times each month. Tonight, I placed an order through Uber Eats for pickup and paid online. When my husband went to pick up the order, there was a miscommunication and he was given and charged for someone else's order. We figured it out when he returned home and I called to figure out what happened and see if my original order could be refunded. A man got on the phone and screamed at me, threatened me and insulted my husband. Miscommunications happen but this is not how you run a business or treat human beings. One of the worst dinning experiences I've had in a long time. Went there for dinner. Only 3 other tables occupied when we arrived. We waited for probably close to 10 minutes for anyone to come to our table. The waiter never greeted us. When he finally did bring us water, he just asked if we were ready to order - those were finally his first word to us despite me greeting him and thanking him for the water. After waiting 30 minutes for our food, they tell us they don't have any lamb which is what my husband ordered. There were 3 of us and our dishes all came out at different times. There was probably 5 minutes between just the first two. When we finally did get it my protein was way over cooked - mixed grille. I was supposed to have chicken and shrimp. I found 2 shrimp tails and one shrimp body. Both proteins were exceptionally dry. The best thing we had was the rice and the vegetables which were tasty. read more

I know the Yelp community is all about supporting local businesses, especially now. One place I do not want to see close is IK. I believe it is the same owners as Pari in Chesterland which we've always loved, so when I learned Mentor was getting an Indian restaurant to fill a huge and long-standing whole in the restaurant landscape, we were pretty happy. Now, onto the review of my most recent takeout order. I had the Balti Style Lamb, tender pieces in a traditional onion sauce. I wanted to try something different and liked the complexity of the spices, richness, and warmth the dish gives you when you taste it. Another great thing about IK is the plethora of veggie/vegan options, and my wife capitalized on that with the Malai Kofta (veggie balls in creamy cashew sauce w/ paneer cheese). I love that there are so many different flavor profiles available and not everything tastes the same. It keeps me wanting to come back and try new items. However, a couple of things kept IK from earning the fifth star. First, if you want medium spicy, don't order "3", it's very mild. Secondly, we spent $50 with these two dishes and two orders of naan. Well, they're really half orders when you get takeout, which I can't explain, it's just their policy. For this price at comparable restaurants, we would have had a lot of more food, the portions need to be larger. And last thing, in case this is important to you, none of the employees were wearing masks, although the appearance of the restaurant was very clean. read more

The craving started with Trader Joe's Butter Chicken. All week I waited to go for the first time to The Indian Kitchen in Mentor. I even perused the menu online ahead of time so I knew what mouthwatering delicacies I wanted to order. We had plans to do other things later in the evening so arrived for an early dinner at 4:45 pm on Saturday. Closed. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Google search states that the hours on Saturday are 11 am - 11 pm. Their website states that the hours on Saturday are 11 am - 11 pm. If I had looked at Yelp I would have seen that every day hours are 11 am - 2:30 pm then 5 pm - 10 pm. That would have helped no? Hahaha...no. I just messaged them on FB to inquire and someone replied, without apology, "We open at 5:00 pm 3 to 5 is our break time". So even Yelp info is wrong. We decided to go to Blaze instead. The boarded up windows there did not bode well either. Judging by the other comments about the service, if wrong hours, being closed and no apology tweaks me, showing up might just give me an aneurysm. read more

The food is delicious but so overpriced. A $20 dinner that doesn't even fill you up?! So not worth it. The service is also super slow and I've had multiple issues with them making my order wrong. I even ordered pick up once and when I got there, they said someone else had accidentally taken my food! How does that accidentally happen?? And it was a $60 order. I waited for them to remake it, but it was pretty off-putting. This place would only be getting 2 stars if it weren't for the fact that the food is delicious and it's pretty much the only Indian food in Mentor, so not a whole lot of competition. Excellent! Thank goodness we do not have to drive to cleveland heights for authentic Indian Food. I had the samosa chat(could be a meal in itself), a Dal which combined lentils and kidney beans, garlic naan, and homemade pistachio kulfi (ice cream) to finish. Ahhhmazing!!! Portions very large.
