And biggest thing that struck me is that it did not smell like a musty resale or consignment store. It is huge, and it's pretty easy to get lost in it. But it has all these little sections and "rooms" that people can rent to consign or sell their wears. There are people who are selling "flea market" style, and there are artists who are using it as a small store style...crafts, and painting, photography, wood working, jewelry...some pretty awesome stuff. They also have a local artist who does painting classes out of the studio, and right when you first walk in a whole rack of books written by local authors. We picked up a kids book about a bunny that immigrates from Italy to Clarksburg...which I thought would be good for my boys as it mirrors their ancestors history. We also found some records, and an old WV license plate.

I really wish Yelp allowed 6 or 7 stars because this place is absolutely awesome. 2 years ago I…read morefound myself staying in Bridgeport for a short vacation. I looked up gift stores in the area and stumbled across this gem. When my girlfriend and I went there we were amazed by the amount of things in there. So much stuff to look at. There was everything in there like local crafts, dolls, Jim Shore figures, candles, and seasonal country gifts. This year I was back in Bridgeport and I had to make it a point to go back to Country Peddler. Everything was exactly how I remembered it. Awesome gifts, a great selection, and definately some of the friendliest people I have ever had the pleasure of speaking to. I had a blast walking around buying all sorts of things. I got candles, a lamp, a watering can that looks like a ladybug, and a Jim Shore plant stake with a cardinal on it. Next year I will be back in the Bridgeport area and I without a doubt will be making it a point to go back. I can't say enough good things about this place. You need to see it for yourself.

Spencer's is just as I remember it when I was a teen--alt trendy in the front and borderline-XXX in the back, hahaha. My teens always joke, "Don't go too far in the back of the store! We're not supposed to see that!" HA! This Spencer's was well stocked and well maintained. It is designed to overstimulate, with floor-to-ceiling merchandise that is alt pop-culture wild and wacky, with some raunchy mixed in. There was a tee clearance sale going on when we were in, and our teens dug through the crates and each found a couple they liked for $7 or $8 a piece. My darling husband offered to buy me a Tarot deck I was examining, as they had a small but quality rack of decks here. The checkout staff was friendly and kept the line moving along. Our fam' had fun shopping at this Spencer's, just not too deep into the depths of the store, of course. ;-) :-D :-D :-D
